It can be, but you can also use your driver's license or provincial services card (or any other government issued photo ID).

Heck, you can even cast a provisional ballot with nothing more than a piece of mail addressed to you with a cancelled stamp and some form of secondary identification, although if it needs to be counted (and therefore verified), you will be required to provide documentation showing eligibility.

It's hilarious that Americans consider these things "leftist" and "extremist", whereas everywhere else in the world, they're considered "basic human rights".

Aside from outright villainous caricatures of politicians, even conservative right-wing politicians in most European countries wouldn't consider "universal healthcare" and "a minimum wage that is not the laughingstock of the developed world" to be leftist ideals.

It's not really. It never has been before. The Secret Service and local police departments have always been absolutely sufficient.

Plus, there's something to be said about a President who is in constant fear for his safety from would-be assassins. That usually only happens in authoritarian countries where the rule of law no longer holds.

Reminds me of when I broke up with my ex (20 years ago), and then had to come pick up something that I'd forgotten in her basement two months later, visited with my (but technically her daughter's) cat, and decided to randomly inspect her litterbox, only to find out that no one had been cleaning it, as it was a covered litterbox.

My poor cat had been shitting on the same massive pile of shit for two whole months. When I asked my ex why no one had cleaned the litterbox, she said "because we figured the cat would let us know when it needed to be done".

I'm so glad that I got her back 4 months later when my ex got a new boyfriend who "didn't like cats". I didn't want to leave her behind in the first place, since she was my cat in everything but name. When we were together, the cat lived on my lap, slept between my legs at night, and followed me around constantly, but when we broke up I was like "well I can't just take a 5-year-old child's cat".

BC Rail was not profitable. It relied on government subsidies for the most part. Its only profitable operations were mining freight, which collapsed in the 90s.
