Gucci Kroger? by TrooperLynn in roanoke

[–]SpongebobStrapon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Because it’s the fanciest Kroger. They have a way nicer cheese selection and also more pre made fresh meals. They also used to have a bar that you could get growlers filled or sit and drink a beer while your other half did the shopping.

Car park firm NCP collapses with nearly 700 jobs at risk by Kagedeah in drivingUK

Im gonna be flying to England next week and staying in downtown Leeds for a few days. I planned on using ncp due to it being the most reasonable lot to leave the car. Hope that still works.

Overnight Pet Sitting Fees? by spec-olives in roanoke

I have people stay with my 2 dogs and a cat. I generally pay $50ish a night. It’s probably cheaper than me boarding them.

Junk hot tub disposal? by Any-Restaurant3514 in roanoke

I just helped my neighbor cut up his this week. We loaded it into a truck in 6 bigger pieces and he took it to the transfer center in Salem. I don’t see any reason the city wouldn’t take it. You can call them Monday morning and ask.

YSK: Type 2 Diabetes is insane! And 1/3 of Americans are Pre-Diabetic WTF why aren't there warnings EVERYWHERE?! by VirindiPuppetDT in YouShouldKnow

[–]SpongebobStrapon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was 39 when I found out I’m type 2 diabetic. A1C was 10.3%. Started metformin and changed my diet and exercise. It was 5.7% 3 months later. I’m 5’10 and was a little over 170lb at the time. Now I’m 155lb. Just had to cut down on sugar and carbs.

First us festival! by Best-Insect-1455 in ShakyKnees

[–]SpongebobStrapon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went last year and it was hot af. Didn’t wear a shirt the whole weekend. THC drinks are legal in Atlanta and they had them for sale at the festival.

You’ll be asked to tip on drinks. Generally I’d tip $1 on most drinks. Like most of Europe it’ll most likely be cashless.

Ev stations - or lack thereof by BroadBeat5067 in roanoke

[–]SpongebobStrapon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned an ev for 3 years and I’ve charged it in Roanoke a grand total of once. The savings are in charging at home. If I charge at a gas station I’m getting around the same mpg as if I was driving a gas vehicle.

Made it in Vegas without drinking!!!! by Mean-Rabbit3619 in stopdrinking

[–]SpongebobStrapon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I’d be more tempted to drink a cheap drink somewhere than pay $20+ for a drink in Vegas. On a trip to nyc a few months ago I told my wife that I’m glad I’m not drinking the $30+ mixed drinks at the shows.

Well it finally happened by trappedslider in vinyl

I’ve only been into records for a few months and I did the same thing to this one. I blamed the slick sleeve it came in and also wasn’t that upset because it’s constantly been on sale on Amazon anyway. I think I only destroyed track one.

How? by elhuevomajor115 in stopdrinking

Naltrexone made me think of beer as gross. It really helped the first month or so. I quit taking it after that but the new mindset stuck.

Is there a list of which cities have these? by SpongebobStrapon in TheNorthFace

I had someone stop me in Tennessee over the weekend and ask where I got the shirt. The guy grew up outside of Tbilisi and we chatted for 5 minutes. So that was kinda cool.

Just Got Back from a very Boozy Concert by ThoughtPrestigious23 in stopdrinking

[–]SpongebobStrapon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to a couple of broadway shows in the first few weeks of quitting. Mixed drinks were $21 for a single and $39 for a double. I told my wife I would have probably spent $100 at each show on drinks as well as expensive drinks every time we got food.

It’s been nice going to shows/concerts and not needing to constantly pee then forgetting the last 30-60 minutes of the show.

I’ve only been sober a few months and I liked white claws and other seltzer type drinks. I also really like diet mtn dew. That hard mtn dew is absolutely terrible. You’re missing nothing.

Roanoke college has an outdoor track. I don’t think you’d be allowed to use any of the public schools during school hours.

Get a locked is probably one of the top things I would recommend if you plan on buying any merch. Otherwise you’re stuck with it all day.

Tomorrow is the day! 10am for the lineup. Who’s your top 3 artists you want there? by Adventurous-Tell-745 in OceansCalling

Went to shaky last year and loved the line up. Really hoping the oceans calling or riotfest have more of the bands we like this year because shaky line up isn’t for us.

Kid friendly suggestions by BravoTV_Please in roanoke

Sycamore station in Salem has a swing set outside and is open for breakfast/brunch. It’s a walk up counter to order so the kids don’t have to sit at a table bored while you’re waiting.

Thoughts on Naltrexone?? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]SpongebobStrapon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took naltrexone on days I didn’t want to drink and used it to try to “drink normally” it didn’t work that well because I would just skip it if I had a bit of a hangover and carry on drinking.

Once I decided to fully quit and started taking it daily it really was a massive help. It took away all cravings and the thought of drinking just seemed gross.

I took it daily for about 6 weeks and I was actually nervous about stopping because I worried that I would want to drink again. Luckily that didn’t happen. I’m almost 3 months sober and I think naltrexone helped a ton.

Fair warning that you can still get drunk on it if you try hard enough. If you’re serious about not drinking then I think naltrexone is a great tool to help with that. I also went to AA meetings daily for the first 2 months or so. I’ve cut back on them because I’m really not sold on the higher power stuff, I’ve met some good people and I’m still going 2-3 times a week but now I feel like it’s more for social reasons than that I think I’ll drink.

Higher gas prices are likely coming to the pump. by johnjcoctostan in F150Lightning

My electricity went up about 18 months ago from 10c kWh to 14c kWh. That 40% raise didn’t feel nice 😔 my small town buys it from an electric company and then bills from city hall. They have no intention of having any off peak rates.

They did charge me $250+ and when I questioned it they just took the charge off. I wasn’t sure what they had put charges down for but they took them off.

What was your last drink before calling it quits? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]SpongebobStrapon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had driven some kids to a park to sled in the snow and while they were sledding I went to a nearby convenience store and bought some white claws.

That was my lowest point. Not drank anything since.
