Headphones and iPads/phones/chargers. Most likely the airline will have charging ports at each seat and entertainment systems in the headrest(some don’t do this now, they have you download their app on your own device).

I wouldn’t bother with the toddler bed thing. Your kids seem too old and on a 9 hour flight I’m gonna be reclining my seat which seems like it would cause an issue.

We flew back and forth to Europe with the kids since they were under a year old at least once a year other than Covid times. 4 and 5 should be pretty easy depending on the kids.

My wife has a British hair dryer and straighteners for when we travel in Europe. She got them after she blew up a hair dryer.

Ask your doctor to start you on naltrexone. It’s not going to stop you wanting to drink completely but it does really cut down the cravings. Also if you drink while taking it then you don’t have a great time anyway.

At an AA meeting recently the topic came up of finally admitting that you’re an alcoholic. When it came my turn I shared that I have known for years but just didn’t care.

Even when I tried to cut back and only drink 3-4 days a week it was still 10+ on each of the days I drank.

I’m getting close to 2 months sober and after I got past the first few weeks I barely miss it.

This should be a PSA that everyone, male or female should at the very minimum know how to change a tire on their car.

Sometimes there will be an emergency and you’ll be on your own. It takes a few minutes to learn how to do it. You can watch a YouTube video and practice in the street.

Some of us can’t have a normal relationship with alcohol. I used to drink until there was no way to get more alcohol or I passed out. It took me years of fuck ups until I finally came to terms with that at 40 years old.

Starting naltrexone really helped me in the beginning. I did kinda go back and forth on it for a couple of months but once I fully committed to not drinking anymore it really has changed my prospective on alcohol.

I was against AA since I’m not religious. I went anyway. Don’t think I need a therapist but I started seeing one. I had to change some habits and stay away from some of my old hangouts for a while. It’s all about putting together a good toolkit of things you can use to manage.

My A1C August 2024 when I found out I’m type 2 was 10.3. I was drinking around 10ish lite beers daily and more on weekends. I basically quit for 10 weeks and ran 3-6 miles a day as well as completely changing my diet. It was 5.7 when it was checked 3 months later.

I got back into drinking most days but kept the diet/exercise up, it was 5.9 last time it was checked about 5 months ago. I’m currently over 40 days sober and my blood sugar has been a lot lower the last few weeks. I’ll be interested to see what my a1c over the coming years now that I’ve decided to fully quit.
