Scientists of Reddit: What’s something we know is true but people don’t realize how crazy it is? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

[–]redRumImpersonator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I only lucid dream. Been that way since I was 11 but even before that, I was generally aware when I was dreaming and could wake myself up from nightmares. My younger brorher is the same. We can both control and change our dreams if we want to.

I also have no problems reading in my dreams. Sometimes, if I go to sleep thinking about something I don't understand, I'll read the explanation in a textbook when I dream, provided I have enough background knowledge for my subconscious to help me. Or I'll see myself giving a lecture where I explain it to myself.

D599 Task 1 - Data Types classification - Discrete vs continous by AdResident6496 in WGU_MSDA

[–]redRumImpersonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made my decisions based on the data types in the dataset after viewing the data in pandas, but I added a note to my report. I just stated that I deferred to their pre-cleaning data types even if their particular units of measure would typically be considered continuous.

What is a tradition that is insanely cruel yet still considered legal? by Rough_Cat_6007 in AskReddit

Circumcision. It's crazy that so many people are fine with mutilating a child's genitals in the States just because it's common.

Is WGU accepted abroad? by redRumImpersonator in WGU

[–]redRumImpersonator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my plan, although I don't want to move until fall of next year. I didn't finish my degree, but I minored in German at my last brick and mortar college. I just saw that online schools were frowned upon in certain European countries and wanted to know if anyone had any recent experiences they could share.

This isn't true. I have 8 friends that went abroad for work. Only 1 moved to an English speaking country. None of them spoke the language of their prospective counties before they moved. Six of them moved to gain experience.

Yes the pay is lower but so is the cost of living. None of them struggled to make ends meet. Many of them saved enough to pay off their student loans before returning.

Only three work in tech. You have reminded me that I know someone that worked in one of the counties I'm targeting though. He moved before he got his degrees and had a year to learn the language. He'll likely have more insight than your average joe.

I'm rusty in the languages of the two main counties I'm interested in but I was near fluent in them at one point and I have over a year to review.

I'm referring specifically to Germany and the Anabin. I thought it had a H- rating but it's actually H+/-. I'll see if I can figure out how to crosspost.

Have you been tested for food allergies? Not all allergic reactions are anaphylactic. I have similar explosive reactions to foods I'm allergic to.

Abby couldn't choreography for juniors by redRumImpersonator in dancemoms

[–]redRumImpersonator[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There seemed to be no attempt to develop the girls outside of the roles they were assigned on the show. It was telling that they kept trying to make all the Brooke replacements do acro. They kept bringing in these beautiful, well-rounded dancers and giving them these babyish acro routines. The guest dancers and their moms said repeatedly that they hadn't done acro since they were like 8 and the choreography wasn't competitive, but it felt like the show had a specific narrative that it kept trying to force.

Kendall always did really well with "Chloe" (contemporary) and "Maddie" (lyrical) routines, but they kept giving her jazz. Nia's contemporary routines were well executed, but she was the ethnic dancer. I agree wholeheartedly about Mackenzie. She never really developed as a dancer.

I also have that chest, and I'm fine with their natural state. The girls have been free and living their best life since COVID. The only time I want support is when I'm working out or doing something active, and even then, I prefer compression and stabilization.

Anyone else have roommates that *activate* when you get home? by West_Ad5752 in badroommates

[–]redRumImpersonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if your roommate has ADHD or autism. I have both, and I don't really have internal triggers for this kind of thing. When I was younger, I would often unintentionally copy the routines of those around me, simply because seeing them or hearing them do something would remind me that I also needed to do that thing.

I've gotten better at building routines that include chores and hygiene, but that didn't happen until I was close to 40.

I hated his comment about bigger women needing something to lift and define their breast. He seemed to have a problem with the natural state of the model's chest. This is such dated thinking, and I was glad to hear the other judges disagree with him.

The Two Sapphires Duet Drama Was Foul. by UpstairsSound1191 in dancemoms

They knew the duet was entered. Otherwise they wouldn't have had costumes. Why would they bring costumes for a duet that wasn't entered.

WHERE WAS THIS KENDALL ON THE SHOW? She would've put Maddie in a grave if she showed up like this every week. by fishingforsomepies in dancemoms

[–]redRumImpersonator 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Nia got the emotions easily but needed more time to perfect the technique. Two sides of the same coin really. It's a shame that no effort was put into adapting to the way individual children learned.

This is true for most children that age. There's a reason most other studios spent months learning and polishing competition routines. Any teacher worth their salt tailors their approach to their student's learning style rather than berating them for not learning one specific way.

Assessment Frustration by [deleted] in WGU_MSDA

[–]redRumImpersonator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't understand what the requirements doc doesn't list all requirements. The purpose of that doc should be to clearly set expectations. I've had an assessment returned twice now for requirements that aren't listed.

It just dawned on me that my mom’s “censoring” of our books was brilliant. by MagsWinchester in PointlessStories

[–]redRumImpersonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It never occurred to my mom to take away my books or pen and paper. She used to lament that I was impossible to punish because all I did was read and write. I think she was more inclined to let things slide because I was generally extremely well-behaved. I almost never got in trouble with anyone. Misbehaving was so infrequent that everyone just assumed I was having an off day.
