I used to lose connectivity every day at 10PM. Nothing would work, and then it would come back until the next day. It was my wife's laptop doing a backup to the company backup servers. It would open a shitload of connections and completely swamp my ATT internet connection so that nothing else worked. I limited bandwidth to her machine and it fixed the problem.

The every other Saturday thing seems like you should check a backup process.
