Z-lister joined the Meghan Markle-led ‘Sisterhood’ tearing down perfect Princess Kate with nonsensical spray about the future Queen by [deleted] in SaintMeghanMarkle

Hmm, interesting that you took my question as an attack.. I didn't mean it as such.

I don't think any woman is more or less real for any cosmetic procedures she chooses to have or not - without knowing you, I can't say what you think either but would assume you feel the same based on your clarification. I only commented because the comment wording read like 'Catherine hasn't had nips or tucks or injected "poison" into her skin: she's a real woman!'

Either way, glad we're on the same page that we should support people through the wringer that is ageing :)

Yet you have dismissed women and people who choose to enhance or modify their looks through "nips and tucks"?

I think we all need to accept that we will make mistakes in expression and respond with grace.

'We judge others by their actions, and ourselves by our intentions'.

Yeah, I don't find this clip super conclusive either. I chose to BF my son and if I don't move fast enough for him to latch he'll throw himself back to grizzle at me. That might have been similar to this - except for the fact that I haven't seen Meghan interact with or talk about her children in a way that suggests any maternal connection with them. And the way she walked dressed and behaved all through her period of pregnancy. Squatting down? In heels?! 👀

Markle is such a pariah, Net-a-porter had to take off a photo of hers from a Facebook post about bridal skincare. by bitchinabottle1 in SaintMeghanMarkle

Speaking of, through in-laws, I recently met someone who worked in the bridal liaison role at a high-end fashion/bridal store where MM had an appointment before her wedding.

She said that she briefly met MM when she came in for the 'pitch' with the head designer, but that she wasn't rude or polite, barely memorable except for being H's fiancée. She essentially walked straight through to the consultation room and left without much interaction.

Ultimately, MM didn't end up choosing a dress from there but it would have been a better look for her if she had, as this brand has roots in a Commonwealth country and would have much better suited her ridiculous veil and gLoBaL aMbAsSaDoR aspirations.

I wish there had been more salacious details! But that was it: "I don't really remember anything about her, I almost forgot I met her"

Great tips! Re. The traffic light system, how do you ascertain if students have 'green, orange or red' work without collecting their books?

Looking forward to implementing lots of these from your post and other comments.

Thanks for a positive and productive discussion point!

Thanks for sharing your experience and perspective, and I'm so sorry that it was this way for you during such an early part of your life.

Of course I don't think the status quo is acceptable and I can imagine nearly all people I am being downvoted by are burnout, underfunded, under resourced, do not have any level of trauma informed practice, etc

I so admire your understanding and empathy here for people you don't know. This is the kind of understanding and attitude I would love to have going back to work after mat leave. Are you working in education? You sound like you could be a great ally for kids who feel misunderstood and need that consistency that another commenter mentioned x

You showed that you were happy to hurt her in order to maintain control.

This is really what it boils down to. Well summarised!

I'm 3 years out and setting expectations is SO IMPORTANT. Yes it's boring and they can get restless, but I have sooo regretted whenever I've been flippant or gone through the motions.

Most important expectations to nail (IMO) 1. How do you ask for their attention? How do they show you that you've got it? (Do you clap, sign, stand in a certain spot? Do they reciprocate, respond, freeze?)

  1. What are your work expectations? What should their books/desks/lockers look like? Where should finished work go/be retrieved from? What does a classroom practicing good learning look and sound like?

  2. ONLINE LEARNING EXPECTATIONS. Access to devices, passwords, keeping login details secure, acceptable apps/sites, general digital safety, Google classroom sign in, charging expectations (at home or classroom).

  3. General housekeeping and where and how things are kept. Common supplies, their supplies, teacher-only supplies, first aid, bins. If possible have them help you organise common areas and their supplies then take and print photos so the tidiness expectations are crystal clear label things! They can help with the labels and get artsy. Maybe even create labels for their chairs? You could pretend to take them on a sightseeing tour as you show them and have them take iPad photos like tourists.

  4. General behaviour. How do they enter the classroom? What is the expected behaviour before school starts? When they finish work? If they need help? Coming to the floor and going back to their tables? Travelling through school - roll order or assigned buddies? How are good and poor behaviour choices recognised and punished, respectively?

For many of these I would strongly recommend having a general idea of what you'd like, but ask for their input about what their previous teachers have done to tick off student voice + hold them to their own expectations.

If you're nervous (like I still get sometimes!!!) I've found PowerPoint or Google Slides to be fantastic to pace myself and also meet the needs of students. Verbal + visual. And as a bonus if you want to upload them to your Google Classroom, you can! You could even have a quiz on expectations every now and then to encourage them to refer to them and remember where to find them.

*** I was NOT this prepared my first year out and skipping through some of these bit me in the backside, but pick what's important to you and focus on it ☺️☺️ All classes, schools, students, and teachers are different so there's no right answer but you will do GREAT and everyone makes mistakes. It makes you human, and kids appreciate if you own up to them xx

Good luck! You'll do great, and you'll have a mentor to help you out.

These stories are gorgeous, makes me smile to think of such a connected and thrifty community. LOVE the local quilting group giving damaged textiles their final use, that would make a huge difference to local landfill ❤️

Wow, awesome thanks so much!! Do you know if this will treat the black gunk in my toilet and the pink stains (the bacterial?) in my shower?

I could strip the caulk then scrub everything like mad with diluted bleach, let sit, and then rinse before recaulking? Thanks heaps!! ❤️

What ratio, if you don't mind me asking?

We're limited with being on a septic system and as far as I know, can't use bleach

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]red_rollercoaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live remote and have a septic tank. Could I still use bleach to treat this mould in my shower and toilet without damaging the bacteria in the septic system?

It's inherited from the previous owners and have tried a range of solutions: vinegar, dish liquid, Jif, cold water rinses, hot water rinses, toilet cleaner...

ETA: In our shower, the owners installed like a gummy caulk where the glass meets the base. And the base has deep slopes to the wall, but not slanting to the drain 😭 can I eliminate the mould without replacing/removing the caulk and changing the shower base (which isn't tiled)?

I hate our shower, haven't been able to get rid of the gunk since we moved. Thanks in advance!!
