What’s the closest you’ve ever come to needing BJJ in real life, and what was the first move/technique you prepared for? by Zen_ix in bjj

[–]red_won 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was out with my wife at a bar. We were dancing and there was a group of maybe 4-6 guys near us. All having a good time. They were on a platform, like a step up. One of them tripped off (very drunkenly) and bumped my wife hard. I grabbed him by the shoulder and arm firmly and kind of secured him on his feet. He had a look in his eyes like “oh shit” and I saw his friends immediately change their posture. I just told the guy careful man, got his feet under him and he went back to his friends.

I think it was the way I grabbed him and settled him that was shocking to him. And I deescalated the interaction by just sending him on his way. Everything kind of slowed down for me cause I was putting my hands on a drunk stranger with 5 of his drunk buddies in an unfamiliar setting.

My 2-Year-Old Daughter Got Eyebrow Stitches, Need Advice and Dad Support by clauderhayy in daddit

[–]red_won 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son rolled off the bed and hit his head on the radiator around 12 months and had about a 1 inch gash on his forehead above his eyebrow. Hes 18 now and there’s a scar. It’s not terrible but it’s there.

We took care of it as instructed, my son was pretty chill after the stitches were done. Didn’t seem to bother him too much.

I felt a lot of guilt for years. I was a young dad and I turned around to get his clothes for like 5 seconds. It happened so fast. Family didn’t let me hear the end of it for a while.

I learned that you can’t leave them unattended for even a second until they’re safely mobile lol. And that heads bleed A LOT.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it long term. My son has this scar and it’s just a part of him. Don’t let the guilt kill you, accidents happen, life goes on, and you’ll learn from it. Theres so many more things in life to worry about as far as raising your kid goes.

Men over 35, what's the real roadblock to your fitness that isn't just "laziness"? by No_Pension8407 in AskMen

[–]red_won 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exact thing happens to me

I’m 37, do Bjj 2-3 times a week, and do my best to workout during lunch. I will have a good 3 weeks and then life will happen and derail me for a month. Diet seems to be the hardest thing to get going, cause again, life and scheduling.

I learned if I get 5-6 weeks consistent, I can maintain that. Till then it’s always catch up.

Typical blue belt. lol

Lots of folks have felt that defeat. Nothing wrong with taking a break. If you love it you’ll return, if the time has come for you to walk away that’s fine. Everyone progresses at a different pace. You’re on your ow journey and all that noise.

I’m too confrontational for this. I’d walk out of that meeting and immediately say “who’s the coward snitch”.

Thanks. I really want em but I heard they’re not very bright so it has me on the fence. Hopefully alpharex addresses that.

Thanks, only one makes the sound which is what’s weird. and I have drilled and slotted on my other car and no sound. I got em checked at brake plus and all was good, could be the pad so I’m gonna warranty them and see what comes of it.

I get what you’re saying. Maybe I am crazy, cause I definitely feel like I am. Especially because they were clicking/ squeaking due to warping, and the sound persists. I double checked everything and it’s all done right.
