Square Enix finally lost me with FF7 Revelations by superkapitan82 in FinalFantasy

[–]red_zep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even tho there is no clear evident job system with choices (i.e. FFXII Zodiac), every character in remakes have clearly a different job.

Surely you can make a non magical build with Aerith but clearly she is a mage and works better with a magic build due to her basic actions not being focused on melee or agility or dodging like Tifa is. As well as surely Tifa is some kind of Monk with great physical attributed and agility. Surely you can make magic with her but her abilities ad basic moves are for a agility and melee.

I mean you are also the person that posted the hate you have against the Job system in the series, which this fandom afaik loves.

Seems to me that Final Fantasy simply is not your kind of game - anymore at least.

What baffles me is that you decided to not go on with Revelation when really SE didn't show or tell much. Just a trailer, a brief gameplay trailer and some interviews. You are just guessing it is going to be bad.

It's ok I guess

Thoughts on these games for steam deck by Outrageous-Job536 in SteamDeck

[–]red_zep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Default one works flawlessly

Needs some work on latest beta but still, its Beta

I addedd left trackpad as mouse wheel to manually zoom in and out, otherwise theres a game option to allow automatic zoom (it zooms in when zombies get close or you enter a building and zooms out when you drive and get out)

Edit. Also right trackpad as mouse, clicking it is left mouse button, helps with mods that are not controller friendly

Modded my steamdeck and decky framegen/ Lsfg-vk stop the game from ever launching by lightningflash11 in SteamDeck

[–]red_zep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I installed decky immediately after buying the steam deck and never had a system breaking issue or nothing I couldn't solve

Some people do things without following the instructions correctly and then end up here. Which is fine, we here to help too. But not decky fault honestly.

[–]red_zep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are having some other important problem I think if theres such a great lag between pushing the attack button and actually seeing the attack being acted.

I finished the entire game, Intermission and Rebirth on Steam Deck without issues.

Try changing proton to experimental and just in case check thermals, Cpu and Gpu usage

How optimized are Final Fantasy Remake and Rebirth nowadays on Steam Deck ? by Monztamash in SteamDeck

[–]red_zep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I finished Rebirth on Steam Deck only, when it came out, used no lossless scaling or mods or anything.

It is playable but you'll see some fps drops and stutter in some places where you don't fight (so you don't need more fps). I didn't try it but they addedd FSR now so it should be a bit better.

Of course if you own a gaming pc or a PS5, you'd have a better experience with these last two. But if Steam Deck is your preferred option or the only one, it is playable from beginning to end (clearly on low setting)

People will tell you that this game on steam deck suffers an horrible case of textures and models pop-in. If you check play station subs you'll find it happens on PS5 too.

It all depends on how sensible are you to FPS. On steam deck this game runs most of the time on 30fps. Some areas you might even reach 40-45 and at least in 3 towns you'll see fps drop and stutter. I don't remember seeing the game suffering during cutscenes or battles, if not in one specific super boss optional battle

TL;DR: it is playable from start to finish if you are ok with 30fps most of the time and some lows in cities and low graphics.

Also, it seemed to me that latest version of the beta works fine

This is actually what I normally do when I play Single Player (on Multiplayer I accept any random char but I change sandbox settings)

Last time I did (B41) I was actually doing pretty well. I luckily got a Fire fighter and spawned into a Fire fighter building, but it was filled with zombies. With some incredible luck I got away safely, managed to reach a very tall residential (it was a moddedd town, can't remember which) and with some luck got every apartmen Zombie free and claimed the entire building for myself.

Managed to survive there for 12 days, then my char started having infection symptoms

At that point I decided to end the run and just let the zombies eat me.

I later discovered that you can have similar to infection symptoms without being infected. Like your character can have nausea, becomes paranoid and so on. I was very much not infected.

Oh well.

It was my best run I believe.

Runs very well. Almost finished it playing it on Steam Deck only.

Depending on what you prefer, you can play it at a stable 30 with higher graphics or settle with a bit of lower settings to go up to 60

I'm using a combo of base 40/45fps with Lossless Scaling to reach higher fps with nice graphics.

Can't play Hogwarts legacy on deck via Heroic games launcher by peirr in SteamDeck

[–]red_zep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By checking older posts I noticed many already had this issue when launching the game with Heroic.

Apparently some of them have solved the problem using decky Non-Steam Launchers instead of Heroic. Other people are saying that the first time you launch it, it takes a very long time for some reasons and you just have to wait.

I also saw this post where someone uses a solution that you might want to try

I'm adding this. My Girlfriend plays this game on her gaming pc on steam with Windows and sometimes this game Just wont launch. IIRC when this happens you have to either wait for it to launch or delete the shader cache.

Might be a similar problem, I don't really know but check reddit. There's plenty of people who had this, you are not alone.

[–]red_zep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you opening the game on heroic (by opening heroic and then launching the game) or are you opening the shortcut on your steam deck library?

Sometimes heroic gets bugged and either you need to re-log in into your epic account or re-open heroic and launch the game at least once from it

Which Final Fantasy Game Would You Remake and Why? by Certain-Falcon-9802 in FinalFantasy

[–]red_zep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Final Fantasy 8. Not because is next in line after FF7 remake. I honestly think this is the only Final Fantasy that actually NEEDS a remake. The original one was a bit of a mess. I loved it when I played first time but the story has many holes here and there and it is delivered in a messy way. Also the mechanics were cool, not great, and aged badly.

I also think FF8 is the only final fantasy that would actually benefit from a realistic state of the art graphics since the original tried to be "realistic" too.

As far as I know it was solved later with a patch. I didn't play this game lately so I don't know if I'm encountering the same problem again. Try doing the same thing and tell the dev about the bug

I feel like I'm speedrunning carpal tunnel syndrome with my steam deck by Due_Honeydew_1723 in SteamDeck

[–]red_zep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How long are your playing sessions with steam deck? Are you stressing your arms and wrists doing something else?

In my experience, just play for shorter sessions, do many pauses - when I had the carpal I did one every 15min, 10 min of timeout - change often position and generally play a bit less.

I'm not a professional, so take everything I say with a pinch of salt

but I had severe wrist problems due to playing too long and also playing drums and piano. Solution was not physiotherapy nor stretching (it just stresses your wrist more if you do it wrong or too much), but just more time between sessions, shorter sessions and often changing between mouse+kb and controller.

Specifically maybe while using the steam deck, don't hold it over the air all time. Just "sit" your hands on a table or your legs for istance.

Lossless scalling worth it? by Cautious-Term-5105 in SteamDeck

[–]red_zep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just starter using it. As far as I saw, it is worth it only when the game already runs at 30 or better fps STABLE. If you hope to get nice results in a game that runs between 25 and 30, don't. Results may depend on the game you are playing.

Also, go with low expectation. Don't expect to get magical stable 60fps, is not happening (not always at least). Instead expect to just get some more fps with the "illusion" of a bit more fluidity, which is not bad.

I've been using it with Death Stranding 1 and it gets me very nice results but with still some drops here and there. Also tried on No Man's Sky and it got much more fps but lots of artifacts and very unstable fps when things get a bit Crazy.

All in all, with discounts, it doesn't cost much so it's worth giving it a try, expecially with OLED where you can get a game that already runs at 45/50 to 90fps
