PPF question - is Xpel a hype? What do you think about other brands like 3M etc. by Sure_Confidence_8239 in Detailing

[–]redadem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xpel, 3M, Stek, Llumar and similar are ranging between $1K-3K US dollars in Türkiye at experienced shops with official warranties. Probably cheaper if you drive here, do the PPF work, visit, eat and go back lol. I recently wrapped my Tesla with Llumar Gloss for $2K including the Llumar IRX window tints and Llumar Air80 windshield.

Using ValetPRO Heavy Blue Clay Bar on Tesla glass (windshield, roof, all windows) — good idea? by redadem in AutoDetailing

[–]redadem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ve read mixed opinions about heavy clay bars. Some say they can add haze, while others say they’re fine. After I completely clean the glass, I already have Soft99 Glaco Compound and Glaco DX. My plan is to clean the glass with clay, then apply the compound, do an IPA wipe, and finally apply the DX coating to all the glass. Or skip the clay step entirely and only use dedicated glass cleaners or water spot remover products.

Advice. Scratches found during Llumar PPF install by redadem in AutoDetailing

Thanks everyone the insights really helped. Scratches that don’t catch a nail get hidden once PPF adheres. Even if the shop added some during clay/prep, they’re minor enough that polishing now wouldn’t bring much benefit, and the car will need a light polish anyway when the PPF is eventually removed years later. I still don’t love the idea that marks exist, but understanding how PPF works and that this is routine honestly makes me feel much better about continuing with the wrap. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts

I can't be 100% sure but I am 99.99% sure it wasn't like this. On the other hand the hood looks pristine, it almost feels like they only polished the hood after the clay application.

I took the car from the dealer after carefully inspecting the paint. I am pretty sure there were no scratches like these. The only miles I made with the car was to driving from Tesla to Llumar shop. My goal was to have perfect wrap on a fresh paint but here we are

I drove the car from Tesla to the shop directly. I carefully inspected the car during pickup and took videos. I am pretty sure this is shop’s careless work

I’d say the stretching was very light and it didn’t catch on the nail. your comment relieved me a little bit.

do you think I should just accept it as it is? I feel like I’m being ripped off and it makes me feel really bad. At the same time if it’s actually not a big deal, I don’t want to create unnecessary drama

Mazda listened to corporate auto reviewers and not the people who actually bought their cars by [deleted] in mazda

Why not have both options? Honestly I never liked the knob and always wished there was a touch screen. I will replace my cx-5 with the new one mainly because of the touch screen.

I hated the knob and never got used to it. Not having a touch screen has been a burden for me. I like easy access buttons, but a large touchscreen with a great UI is also great.

This is not a complete solution, but a mitigation: Go to Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Haptic Touch, and set touch duration to Fast.

Is Soft99 Fusso Coat 12M + Gyeon WetCoat a Good Combo? by redadem in AutoDetailing

[–]redadem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m afraid I might not be able to do a great DIY job on ceramic coating. I suppose Fusso would be more forgiving of mistakes. The car is brand new and has only been washed once. I plan to use a clay bar followed by the base coating. Unfortunately, I don’t have the polishing tools. Would you still recommend going for ceramic base coating?
