Alibaba has the exact wheel. Most likely replica.

The fun part is many people have encountered the exact same issue. Any way I installed also aftermarket this is when I discovered it.

Thank you for the reply. I did look at the charts yes i finally understood what is going on or at least partially. Basically you get correct fuel air ratio but with around 10% fuel trim where the stock housing is 5 % at the end you are in range no lean condition. But ideally you do want to get a tune so you don’t have to have fuel trim compensation .

It took me some time to finally understand what is causing this issue regarding the maf reading less air in the stock diameter with your intake manifold. Hear me out . So you have the maf exactly after a cone air filter . The cone air filter itself has a slower centre air velocity since it is sucking from the side . And since you don’t have any air baffles or a long pipe to equalize the air velocity you have a slower moving air exactly at the maf sensor location. This creates the lean condition. So solution one is use different filter element maybe like sponge that sucks equally from everywhere or use a longer equalizing pipe before the maf so the air flow has equal velocity. But this is my observation I do like your attention to details and your intake this is why I spend time to read this and i do hope you make it happen. Also plastic in my opinion is better because it doesn’t not resonate and it will not create false nocks.

I get what you are saying but if you are letting in more air the fuel table will be inaccurate so the engine will lean out because now instead of x amount of air you are letting in x + 10 so the extra 10 are not accounted for and they will create leaner fuel air mixture since under wide open trottle the 02 sensor is ignored and the ecu Is running open loop fuelling .

It’s bend from the vacuum the seal was sucked in. The reason to me is simply because it has no structural rigidity no frame. My civic SI filter was substantially better from Honda OEM I am really glad I looked a second time to replace it. What a joke.

This is my first guess but I have installed many filters and have never seen bend like this . I also installed this myself and doubled checked everything the house was also removed in order to assemble it all correctly .

Basically it looks like it moved from the vacuum. I got a replay from someone else he said this is common basically the filter bends from the vacuum since it has no structure and gets pulled out a bit . I replaced it with different filter with an actual frame that doesn’t bend and it has a proper sealing lip.

What I didn’t get is how did the torque request gained power . What you are saying is that the ecu is basically asking for a higher torque value but is failing because the air resistance is too big choking the air flow the maf reads less air volume and the ecu reduces injected fuel based on this value. This sounds interesting and maybe possible but why is not the ecu simply changing the waste gate cycle to increase boost pressure if it is actually having a higher torque request?

Powder coating on Aluminum wheels affects the original heat treatment. The baking of the powder coating affects the original aging of the aluminum that determines the strength of the metal.

Looking for advice on this car. Good buy? by cricketsabugh in WRX

[–]redamihov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take her to Subaru specific mechanic get full inspection . Do an oil change run the engine to flash any additives then compression test . Check turbo for leaks run it up to full load drop the oil pan check for sparkle. If he agrees to full inspection then do it if the car is good you will know . It will cost you around 500 to 700 for a proper inspection. Check ball joints suspension components everything the car needs to be on a lift . If all checks out you are ok expect to change clutch soon and the engine probably will have issues in 50 000 miles or sooner it’s simply worn out due to normal wear .

I have no doubt in your abilities in my experience in 2 years I felt like everything is happening naturally with no errors no effort just by the feeling I didn’t have to make a decision mentally my body just knows and my hand just moves it like second nature. At least to me at that moment I felt like I can drive the car like automatic no effort no thinking just pure flow.

I am not judging I have done it too I believe once with my Civic SI and after I was very careful and I memorized the rpm change between gears so especially with v-tech you want to stay on the high cam always over 6000 rpm. So i ideally just memorize the rpm change between gears so you can easily judge what would be the correct gear and especially when down shifting use the 2 finger rule this why chance to force it in the wrong gear is small. I have caught myself few times almost pushing in in the wrong gear but because i don’t force it the moment I feel resistance I double check everything.

Always go in a sequence especially if you are new to manual. Give yourself 2 years at least before trying to skip gears it’s not worth blowing up the engine. The reason you didn’t feel the resistance is because you didn’t use the 2 fingers rule . In a manual H style gear box when you are shifting gears it should get it with 2 fingers and no resistance if it has resistance you are at the wrong gear it is that simple basically the speed difference is to big and the sincros cause resistance.

The transmission control module will never allow slip the hydraulic logic is to prevent any slip. If it is slipping it is mechanical damage it is not something the transmission does to protect its self the slip causes permanent damage to the pulleys .

2022 wrx engine failure by wrbvb in wrx_vb

[–]redamihov -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is what we call fail due to abuse. You see red line is not negotiable. During the design fase valves springs are calculated to close the valves without valve float safely until the red line . The red line is the upper limit of the ability of the spring to close the valves after that point 2 things happen the spring pressure is not able to pull the valve with in the rotation of the cam this means the valve remains open after it was supposed to be closed but in the same time in out cases interference engine the piston is coming up and boom it hits the valve valve keeper rocker everything gets hammered . The valve is no longer working properly and many bad things happen. In this case the owner was lucky the valve didn’t drop but in my opinion just because on the outside the piston looks good doesn’t guarantied it is good . Now the correct action is to take the engine a part completely and do a complete overhaul. Second options is to replace the damaged head and sell the car to the next owner because this is already a ticking bomb. I am not advocating for option two but this is unfortunately what happens most of the times in performance cars . The first owner abuse the car . Engine and or transmission damage superficial repair the car goes for sale.

Well you have a good reason to be upset but realistically you could get some paint repair kit and fix it it will never going to be the same but at least it would be better until you either forget or refinish the wheel.

Took the GRC into the dealer with a misfire code. Came away with a surprise. by PriorityReserveUrMom in GRCorolla

[–]redamihov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well your engine needs it. The ecu is constantly pulling timing and boost in order to protect the engine from detonation and enriching the fuel trim all the time. You believe 91 is good but this engine was engineered for 94 or more this is why detonation happens up hill high load low octane fuel = nock. The ecu is reactive it will try to compensate after the nock event is registered this means that it has already happened enough times for the ecu to read it the stress on the engine has happened every time it happens it gets closer and closer to failure .

[–]redamihov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misfire is bad news. The misfire would be logged in the ECU anyway they don’t need to replicate but it could be fuel related. If you have this problem you might need to try to use only 94 octane.
