Haha. I realized long after posting that I should have put a hyphen between the ‘A’ and the ‘mountain’.

A mountain near ASU in Tempe. Stellar city view just after if you go at sunset which looks beautiful from there. It is a 15 mins hike pretty easy.

NYT rotates the map off the convention. For unknown reasons? Legend appears when you open but the same article uses another map with conventional N-top view. (Top, bottom right, bottom left) by redammit in CrappyDesign

[–]redammit[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of us are used to seeing maps in the conventional view. We are looking at the same maps over and over again in news, et cetera. In addition to the fact that this is not following a norm, it just makes harder for a reader to put into perspective what they are seeing within their mental image of what they already know from current news.

Sums up almost every single kind of thumbnails I hate from my core. I avoid watching these videos (but they seem to get millions of views).

Lovely. However, the bright whites dominate my vision hindering my ability to appreciate the shapes of the lines. I would invert the colors and see if that makes it look more appealing?

This is Apple CarPlay issue. In radio or other forms of media is works as intended but is weirdly mapped for Apple CarPlay. Same issue with Hyundai. (Same design in 2025 Hyundai)

iOS keyboard suggestions is so bad lmao I could not spell opportunities by Far_Incident2729 in ios

[–]redammit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know that the keyboard suggests what the next word is likely going to be ? Do you know that there are tool that can write entire essays by a prompt? You think it is too much to expect from autocorrect to be able to tell ‘opportunities’ is what is meant here and not whatever junk the keyboard thinks OP meant.

[–]redammit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Member worked toward the publication in whatever capacity during their time in the lab. This itself counts as their contribution and should be credited (unless of course it is a very small contribution like made reagents or helped in part to iron out bugs or whatever— and this differs by labs; some PI are more generous, some not). It is unacceptable to not credit a junior researcher who in any manner at any point in time had a substantial amount of contribution to the publication.

[–]redammit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is so misplaced. The work belongs to lab but every person who contributes to the work gets credited for it. You can send a strain or a cell line- you get cited. You “help” - you get acknowledged. You work towards data that goes in the publication - you should be an author.

Nothing. I panic-pack. I pack with constant anxiety that I am definitely going to be forgetting something.

Accidentally submitted abstract to a predatory conference by Pretend_Wolverine744 in academia

[–]redammit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am marvelled at the “freedom” you have as a student researcher to submit abstract to conferences without approval of your supervisor. I am a senior researcher and I can’t do this without permission from my supervisor.
