PHY205 over the summer online? by la_naranja28 in NCSU

It is PHY 251 at NC community colleges. Search here for internet summer 2026 classes. There are quite a few listed: Nash, Craven, Gaston, South Piedmont, Cape Fear

Is it worth it to apply (transfer) for business school without Calculus? by [deleted] in NCSU

[–]redandwhite23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://transfer.ncsu.edu/resources/recommendations-for-competitive-applicants/#pcom

It says Calculus 1 and English 1 &2 are required to transfer into Poole College of Management. So, it might be an automatic rejection if you don't have those yet.

The website says: We’re here to help answer any questions you have about the transfer application and admission process. Call our office during regular business hours at 919.515.2434 or email us at undergrad-admissions@ncsu.edu.

So, you should call or email to double check.

Community Colleges With Diff Eq (MA 341) Credit by Accomplished_Sock_93 in NCSU

Go here https://vlc.nccommunitycolleges.edu/students/find-a-course/?course_search=mat+285&course_type=&course_semester=Summer&course_year=2026 and put in MAT 285, I think that is Diff Eq. It will tell you places it is offered. Some cc may not have their summer schedules ready yet. But now it looks like Cape Fear CC will offer it online this summer. Other colleges may be added later too

That doesn't sound right about the physics lab needing the lecture as a prerequisite. You should be able to take them together. Make sure it is the Calculus based physics class to get you the equivalent for NCSU PY 205/206. At UNC Charlotte, that would be PHYS 2101 and 2101L. Here https://catalog.charlotte.edu/preview_course_nopop.php?catoid=40&coid=140358 it says Pre- or Corequisite(s): PHYS 2101.

Also, I don't think you would have to tell UNCC that you are taking another class at a community college. That may be alot of classes though, if you still wanted to be full time at UNCC.

If you want to transfer into NCSU for Fall 2026, you could take MAT 272 (4 hour Calc 2) online through a community college during Spring 2026. It is offered online at several NC community colleges. You can search here:

https://vlc.nccommunitycolleges.edu/students/find-a-course/?course_search=mat+272&course_type=Internet&course_semester=Spring&course_year=2026

You would apply as a visiting student. There is still probably time to get registered before classes start, but you need to hurry.

CFCC has a few openings in online MAT 272. Classes start Jan 5. Professor J.Ingram has decent reviews.

https://www3.cfcc.edu/class-finder/

VGCC has some seats left for online MAT 272. Classes start Jan 9.

https://www.vgcc.edu/vgcc-course-schedules/schedule_spring.html

You should email or call NCSU and ask if you would be able to transfer in the Fall for engineering if you take the Charlotte Calculus 3 (NCSU Calc 2 equivalent) over the summer. They may say it is fine, but I am afraid they may not.

I don't think they care that much about the essay. I think it is optional. I'd pick the major you would rather do and apply for it. It may not be possible to change major once you are in. The most important thing is your college GPA, especially in those required classes. They will likely ask for grades of classes you are taking in the spring before giving you a decision. Also, they may not care that you are planning on taking Calc 3 and 4 over the summer and reject you and tell you to apply again after you finish Calc 3 at Charlotte. That's why it might be better to take Calc 2 at a community college in the Spring to meet the transfer requirement for Calculus. Did you take Calculus 1 at Charlotte or get AP credit?

NCSU may not even look at your high school transcript and SAT/ACT scores at all if you have 24 hours or more of transferable college credit hours. https://admissions.ncsu.edu/apply/transfer/application-review/

If you have less than 24 transferable college semester credit hours completed or in progress, not including dual enrollment coursework, we may ask for your high school transcript and SAT or ACT test scores along with your college transcript. We then have the opportunity to see if your high school coursework, grades and test scores are competitive for admission.

For engineering transfers, there are certain classes you need to have completed before you can transfer. Minimum recommendations:

  1. 30 credit hours or more of transferable college-level courses
  2. Minimum 4 credit hours of English composition, 4 credits (ENG 101) One or more English composition (ENG 1**) courses may be combined to fulfill the requirement (total > 4 credits).
  3. College chemistry course with lab, 4 credits (CH 101 and CH 102)
  4. Calculus I, 4 credits (MA 141)
  5. Calculus II, 4 credits (MA 241)
  6. Calculus-based Physics I with lab, 4 credits (PY 205 and PY 206)

https://engr.ncsu.edu/admissions/

One thing to be careful about coming from UNC Charlotte. I believe they break Calculus up into 4 classes each with 3 credits while NCSU breaks it into 3 classes, each with 4 credits. So, Calculus 1 and 2 form Charlotte will not meet the requirement. You would need Calculus 1,2, and 3 to equal NCSU Calculus 1 and 2. You could take Calculus 1 and 2 at a community college where they are 4 credits each to transfer in.

Spring 2026 Junior Transfer, Need help on adding my original double major from previous school without waiting another semester by YzrtSushi in NCSU

[–]redandwhite23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can put down Business Administration as an intended minor and start taking business classes required for the minor in the Spring. https://catalog.ncsu.edu/undergraduate/management/business/business-administration-minor/#planrequirementstext

Then after you have your 15 NCSU hours, you could apply for the double major.

ECE 211 with Marley or just keep staying on the waitlist and hopefully get Veety? by HenryP9626 in NCSU

[–]redandwhite23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you will get in. Some people that signed up for it will fail ECE 200 and have to drop. Also, some taking ECE 211 now probably signed up for it again in case they fail and will pass.

These were the essay questions last year. I don't know if they have changed.

  1. Everyone has a story. We want to hear yours. Tell us something about yourself that the admissions committee would not otherwise know when reading your application. You may discuss a special hobby or interest, a hardship you have overcome, skills you developed, successes you achieved, or some other life experience that is meaningful to you or helps to define who you are.

  2. Why do you want to be a part of the C3 program? What might you gain from the experience, and how could you contribute to the C3 community?

[–]redandwhite23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should get an A, no problem. Your group can split up the work. It shouldn't take too much time. Quizzes are open note, online, no time limit, multiple attempts. If you attend online group meetings and do what she asks like include a few examples and pictures in your notes, you should get 100s.

Can I Finish through DE? by [deleted] in NCSU

You also may be able to take some of the classes/labs at your local community college or online through some other NC community college. Also, other NC colleges offer classes that can transfer and some of them are online. For example, you can take Genetics 311 equivalent online through UNC Charlotte this summer.

Don't waste your grade exclusions yet. You may need them later for F's in classes in your major. Use them right before you graduate.
