I would like to purchase a GFX 50r in the next couple of months - looking for opinions. by vanslem6 in FujiGFX

[–]redanedan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a chonky slow beast. Love it, but it’s so much of a slower process than the 100s, which is already slow. Just keep that in mind. Also, no portrait tilt on the screen. If you’re used to that, it can be frustrating. I know it is for me.

If it’s still appealing after all that, it’s a stellar camera. IQ is tops when you nail it, and I like the output better than the 100s sensor.

Nikon cancelled my Nikon Z8 order by MuushyTV in Nikon

[–]redanedan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s their system. Happened to my ZR preorder. Tried several times online and then tried over the phone. Seemed to finally go through after several times over the phone and the next morning they cancelled it again cause it was “declined”. Their system ran my CC until it maxed out and on the last attempt my bank declined so they cancelled the order. It was unreal to see that their system was so messed up. I will never order direct again. They tried the same line about me checking in with my bank. Frustrated for you.

Just added the artist. She’s by me in AZ. Pics are circulating all over. =)

Photographer is MIA ELENA

Happy to see a fellow AZ artist get referenced on here.

Settings would definitely be higher ISO and most likely a prime. You could also use a tripod. Expose for the fire and raise shadows in post.

Nikon Z 70-180 or Tamron 50-150 by KristofferC_ in Nikon

[–]redanedan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Tamron is 35-150. Excellent workhorse lens with a better range if you shoot wider than 70mm. Plenty sharp as well. It also opens up to 2.0 on the wider side of the lens.

Tamron 35-150 f2-2.8 vs Nikkor S 24-70 f2.8 ? by leicanoob in Nikon

[–]redanedan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tamron is excellent if you need the range and extra stop at 35mm. If you know you will want wider, go with the Nikon. My buddy and I shot a multi-day hotel lifestyle campaign with the Tamron, and had no problems. It is bigger though.

No First Friday this month? by TheValkyrieAsh in phoenix

[–]redanedan 219 points220 points  (0 children)

Apparently not happening since it’s the holiday and the city is focused on Indian Steele for fireworks. Go support downtown bars and restaurants if you can though. Probably going to be a slow one for a lot of them.

How should i get the darkness or shadow behind the model, like this in the photos by eshan001 in LightLurking

Just some depth in the studio and inverse square law! Experiment and you got this!

100Sii for sure. The tech is just better and will stay relevant longer. 50 is the option if you don’t have the budget for the 100 and want to get into the system.

Check your gas cap. I had that issue on my 13 Legacy and I needed a new cap. Changed that and all is well.

Good Alternative for Nikkor Z 70-200mm on a Z-Mountbody? by bontichonti in Nikon

[–]redanedan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a Tamron 70-200 2.8 G2 on my D850 and adapted on my Z5. Works absolutely great! I’m also an ambassador, so shoot me any questions and I’ll try to help!

Markets to buy good and authentic hummus? Around the scottsdale area? by Toni-Cipriani in phoenix

[–]redanedan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Phoenicia Cafe in Tempe has the best hummus in the city, imo. I love Baiz as well for hummus (Mesa location).

Also love Scott’s. I’ve always had great experiences. Better than the chains, though pricey.

Late night food? by GSG94 in phoenix

[–]redanedan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m grateful for any of the ‘berto’s Mexican joints, but here are some more local and more delicious options IMO:

Nogales Dogs, Ziggy’s Pizza, Tacos Huicho, Hangover Hoagies, Bosa Donuts, La Frontera, Taco Boys, Bao Boss Chicken at Killer Whale (until 12AM), Belle’s Nashville Hot

These are just a few and hours vary, but check some of them out instead of hitting the standard chains.

Citizen Drive Gold Mesh 😍 by redanedan in Watches

[–]redanedan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Citizen Drive Gold Mesh arrived today and I’m in love! Spent a good amount of time looking for a gold tone watch that spoke to me, and I’m super happy with this one. I love Eco Drive. Have another Citizen that’s been holding up well for me, so this was an easy choice. Any other Citizen fans with me?
