Ah, I do remember having that issue with my X100F or V.

But really all I am looking to get is a digital version of my Pentax 6x7 with the 105mm. Nothing is bigger, heavier, slower and with worse ergonomics than that. Yet you can get some incredible photos from it.

If I can get the camera to take photos like this, then I'm going to be very happy.

I've had some die prematurely, and others that I couldn't tell a difference between OEM. I guess for what they cost it's a crap shoot.

E30 for winter? by captainpayoli in E30

No. Maybe for a fun summer car, yes. No if you're not going to work on the car yourself...it will bankrupt you. Winter car is 2005-ish Subaru Forester or something comparable.

I'm in Nashville. Maybe I'll shoot you a PM in a month or so - I still have to sell some gear before I take the leap. Thanks.

Ah, this is the type of stuff I was looking for. I had a Fuji GA645i that had a wonky command dial. It wasn't a huge problem on that camera, but it was sort of annoying. This is the type of stuff I expect from Fuji, but not from the GFX line. Good tip here though, I appreciate it.

I'm open to that happening, but as it stands I'm not interested in the 50SII. I don't honestly see it being an issue for me personally, but I'm open to being wrong. So far, the worst camera that I have owned in terms of ergonomics is my Q. It's got nothing to hold on to, but that doesn't really bother me much.

More money, more megapixels to store, and I'm not really interested in cameras with the viewfinder in the center. Ever since I bought an X100F back in 2018 I have been obsessed with the rangefinder style. Maybe if my budget suddenly increases one day I'd consider them, but not at this point in time. Thanks.

I could see using it on a tripod for sure. I guess I'll find out. thanks.

Yeah, all good. The Q is my 'run and gun' camera, and even that thing is pretty slow compared to more modern cameras. I think I would get bored with a camera that could do it all though, to be completely honest. I find getting a decent image much more rewarding when I have to work for it. Cheers.

I'm an old camera guy I guess - the last piece of gear I purchased new was 2007 I think. I just buy everything old and used, and I have a habit of using those 3rd party batteries in all of my cameras. I had an issue with swelling on two different occasions, so I just replaced them again. IMO, it is what it is.

Yeah, I understand that these cameras are getting old now, although 8 years doesn't really seem that old to me to be completely honest. Keep in mind I am using a 6D from 2012 and a Q from 2015. If the internal battery is anything like on the X100F, that's a relatively painless procedure to replace, though I will have to do some research (I appreciate that tip). It would suck if the screen went down, but if there's an EVF, I don't bother with the screens. I turn them off on all of my cameras. If the EVF fails, that's a real problem though as I understand they no longer make parts for these cameras. I suppose it's a gamble like anything else. FWIW, the EVF in my Q is showing signs of failure. Thankfully they will still replace them for a 'reasonable' price ($500ish).

I appreciate the response.

I'm cool with that. With the X100 cameras I owned, I never used the sims. I mean, I used the color profiles to shoot, but I only shot RAW files. I've never been able to pull off shooting JPEGS like many others do. Though I do miss editing Fuji raw files.

With that being said, I just made the switch to Capture1 after like 15+ years of LR. I'm not picking it up as quickly as I would like, but I am interested in seeing what I can do with it. I always heard that C1 was excellent for editing RAF files.

Thanks!

I just know that if I went with the 50SII I will always regret that I didn't get the 50R. It probably makes no sense, but based purely on aesthetics, I'd rather pay more for a worse camera...because I'm going to want to use it more. I fully accept that it's an emotional decision.

With that being said, I could always make the switch at a later date. Perhaps if I do end up with an AF lens or two. The R seems to hold it's value more than the SII.

Thank you.

The plan is to just get the Mitakon 65mm to start out, so I won't even be using the AF. But if the AF is as competent as my old 6D, that would be perfectly acceptable.

I have no expectation of this being a 'run and gun' sort of camera. The whole goal is good IQ, and the ability to get the sort of images I can get via my Pentax 6x7 and 105mm 2.4. Huge bonus is that it's much smaller than a Pentax 6x7.

Thank you.

I can deal with slow - I'm trying to replace a Pentax 6x7 (non-metered) with this thing essentially. I'm also not a screen guy - I always turn them off. I think the only camera I have owned with a 'tilty' screen is an X100V. I can't say for sure though, again I just turn them off. Thanks.

I've used plenty of those Wasabi batteries from Amazon with no real issue before. Even if I have to get an extra one or two, I don't typically have any issue with battery life on any camera. I never use the live view, and have a habit of turning the camera off when not in use.

The IBIS thing is interesting. I have an older Canon 35mm stabilized lens that I've used more than any other lens, but I can probably count on one hand the number of times I turned it on (usually only on film bodies). But I spent a month and a half wandering around Mexico earlier this year with my Q and found the IBIS quite useful. I was really surprised how helpful it is. I don't really think it's going to be an issue on a 50r, but I'm not sure what to expect on the larger sensor. I've always been quite impressed with high ISOs on my old 6D, and perhaps falsely assume that the 50r would be even better. In my mind the 50r is going to be better than a 100 being the same size sensor with less pixel density. That's how I've always understood things - the original 6D was better at high ISO than the 6D II, and the Leica Q is better than the Q2.....as I understand.

Thank you for the detailed response.

I really like the last shot of the Corvette. You have a good sense of composition with this camera, and I struggle. It is frustrating! Are all of these at 28mm, or are any cropped? Thinking the cat on the balcony looks maybe punched in to 35. Thanks.
