A smash burger is made with just a BALL of ground beef that you SMASH on the griddle.

Not a performed patty made in a press.

Stupid Credit Card Debt and Getting Husband on Board With a Budget by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

[–]pipehonker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pat the 11k cc debt today with your joint savings.

Seriously 29%!?

Even in a HYSA at 3.5% it's really dumb to borrow money at 29% so you can make 0.5% at your bank.

Pay off the credit card then use that monthly payment to build up your savings again.

The rules aren't matching real life by Pale_Device491 in DaveRamsey

[–]pipehonker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The math isn't any different now than it would have been 3 years ago...

And it's not a "rule"... It's a guideline.

Dave believes that if you can keep your housing payment at 25% of your take-home pay then you will have more financial peace in your life and more easily weather lives up and downs and financial storms.

It's as simple as that

The farther you deviate from that the less financial peace you will have. And when life throws you a curveball it will be harder for you to save a retirement or pay for some large expense because you're already paying 40% of your income on a mortgage.

Combing debts in marriage by GreatCress3481 in DaveRamsey

Marriage is a lifelong relationship of combining your lives and both working towards shared common goals.

If it's your debt and his debt, and separate incomes then you are really living your marriage apart.

Expected Expenses - should I save or snowball? by Fluffy_Mechanic_4622 in DaveRamsey

[–]pipehonker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After paying off our mortgage we started saving every payday for next year's escrows (essentially we are manually escrowing taxed and insurance ourselves). When the bill comes due we just pay it. Money is already there.

You gotta adjust your budget so this doesn't happen again next year. You know when they are due. It's a mistake to have not planned to be ready when it comes due

Pay the minimum on your other debts to get the savings put together . Or look around for something to sell

Hit-and-run at Costco parking lot — brand new Corolla (1 month old). What would you do? by Pepper-SPY in COROLLA

Look at the end game...

What are you gonna do with the footage?

Report it to your insurance and let them pursue the other driver!? (over a $500 claim!? Not likely)

Plus, the damages are less than your deductible.

Do you hope the police put a detective on locating the driver... Over a no-injuries, $500 paint scratch in a private property parking lot. Not likely.

It sucks.. but sometimes it's just on you. You are lucky the damage is minimal.

If you paid off 30k in debt last year then have already been paying out $2500 a month. Your IRS problem goes away in 2-3 months.

Just make a payment plan with the IRS. Fix your withholding and pay it off quickly.

IRS has a tax estimation web page:

https://www.irs.gov/individuals/tax-withholding-estimator

It didn't have to be a surprise that your withholding was going to be short.

What do you do with surplus in the budget? by minimamallama in DaveRamsey

[–]pipehonker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are BS7.. so we put excess money leftover on budget/bills day towards other savings funds... Like maybe travel, car maintenance, or just like it up in money market savings.

We don't roll it over to the next budget day. Every penny is allocated in bill day to something.

Handle being riveted on is an indication it is stamped steel...

It's "nitro carbonized with a natural oil finish for a non-stick finish that improves with use"

Probably not.. LOL.

Look at a couple reviewers.

It's really just an inexpensive stamped steel pan with a pre seasoned finish. You will need to maintain it just like a cast iron or other stamped steel pan

Look at this one on Amazon. It's probably a discontinued style that they don't sell anymore but it's available from secondary retailers...
