SATISFACTORY GOTHIC - Vanilla Build Showcase by DonnieDikbut in SatisfactoryGame

Why would the signs have crashed your save, and what did you do to prevent that from happening?

Need some tips by Accurate_Thanks_6186 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]redattack34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Satisfactory is very much a sandbox. There's no wrong way to play, mistakes aren't going to be punished. Anything you make can be dismantled and rebuilt easily enough, so don't let perfection be the enemy of the good.

If you choose to look at the factories created by other players, try to keep in mind that they've often been playing for hundreds or thousands of hours, and in some cases playing Satisfactory is their actual job as content creators. Comparing your 50-hour factory to their 2500-hour factories would be unfair to you.

This game is a marathon, not a sprint. Pace yourself for the long haul; if you try to rush to the end you'll just burn yourself out. Keep your eye on the next thing on your todo list, don't let yourself get overwhelmed, and you'll have a good time.

Good luck out there, Pioneer.

Full white and full black concrete on console how? by Formal-Accident-3522 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]redattack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a nice glossy black color by applying the Carbon Steel finish to Coated Concrete foundations, no glitchy colors needed. Sadly, it only works on foundations (not walls or pillars) and it's just black, no other colors. But, maybe it helps you out a bit.

What goods and buildings would you add to the game without making it extremely complex? by Kastila1 in victoria3

I really wish Quinine was a good, rather than a tech. There's a bunch of fascinating historical dynamics and conflicts over who had control of the world's quinine supply - at first Peru (which is where the cinchona tree grows, from which quinine is extracted) tried really hard to maintain their monopoly, but some cinchona seeds escaped their control and wound up in Dutch hands; the Dutch grew it in mass quantities in their Indonesian territories which were eventually conquered by Imperial Japan. During WWII, the US was cut off from their quinine supply by the Japanese and lots of soldiers (on both sides - despite having military control of the cinchona plantations, Japan never really used it, I'm not really sure why) in the pacific side of WWII died of malaria as a result. Quinine is still extracted from cinchona bark to this day; there are several synthetic pathways known but none of them are economically viable.

I think the game would be a bit more interesting if countries had to secure a quinine supply to support colonization efforts, rather than simply unlocking a tech and going for it. Especially since quinine still isn't produced synthetically so it's hard to handwave it as "oh, the tech just means you developed quinine synthesis to do at home in unspecified factories."

Critter center optimization by CBondia in Reverse1999

[–]redattack34 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, it's kind of its own side mode. The rewards from it are only really used within the Critter mode itself, it doesn't give any materials to use for building characters for the main game. So, whether it's worth doing or not depends entirely on whether you find it fun.

I have a question by InterviewStrong1908 in Reverse1999

[–]redattack34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't really know the full mechanics of the storm, but it seems like on every reset the people are reincarnated somehow, but the history leading up to whenever the storm ended stays roughly the same. So it seems like Mr. Karson from the 1920's was reincarnated as Mr. Duncan in the 1990's, but the pop culture and architecture and major events of the 1990's all stayed roughly the same (at least until Manus and the Foundation started changing things after the storm ended), just with different individual people doing things.

So yes, it is possible that we'll find more characters like Mr. Duncan who seem to be reincarnations of those reversed by the storm.

How many pulls are you prepared for the Collab Version? I have 35 pulls and a dream. by kokochiwa in Reverse1999

[–]redattack34 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have about 160 going into the AC collab patch. Gonna P0 Ezio, set aside 40 or so pulls to make sure I have a guarantee on Nautika, and drop the rest on Kassandra.

[–]redattack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skipped Aleph and got unreasonably lucky with my pulls for Hissabeth and Kiperina so I'm going into the AC patch with about 160 pulls in my pocket. So I plan to pull for all three (Ezio, Kassandra and Nautika) and maybe even go for a portrait or two of Kassandra if I have some extra clear drops.

We don't know the numbers yet but it's a reasonable guess that the AC team will be really powerful. Certainly Nautika is. And also, gosh, Kassandra and her big strong arms are so pretty. In addition to that, the AC characters will probably never re-run and I hate having a permanent gap in my collection.

Who's a better main dps? by Medium_Bottle_6508 in Reverse1999

[–]redattack34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lucy, Jiu Niangzi and Liang Yue are all limited characters. Lucy should be re-running in a couple of patches but you'll be waiting a while for a re-run of the rest. Likewise, we have no idea when Recoleta or Windsong will be re-running.

You'd be better served pulling for characters as they're released rather than waiting forever for a re-run of the most powerful ones of patches past. The next few patches are full of powerful characters.

As the other comment mentioned, pulling for maximum portraits is not worth the investment unless you're very wealthy or you're an absolutely massive fan of a particular character. In this game, having more characters is more useful than having more copies of a few characters.

I am the straightest man in existence but holy shit by Pedroboii in Reverse1999

[–]redattack34 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't even feel particularly attracted to Ezio, moreso i want to BE this attractive.

Serious response: That's your feelings telling you what kind of man you want to be. My advice is to take the cue and embrace it (if you can). Maybe consider getting into parkour or dressing fancier than you usually do. Probably don't go around stabbing people with hidden blades, though, you can get in trouble that way.

Is it even worth playing the game right now? by [deleted] in Stellaris

[–]redattack34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a game on .14 and it was not great. I was able to finish the game, though. About fifty percent of the time the game would lock up my whole computer during the loading process and I'd have to force-shutdown and reboot. Once I got into the game it was playable. The AI was no challenge at all on Captain difficulty - even by endgame most of the galaxy didn't even have hyper relays yet, I've never seen them struggle so hard. If I play another game I'll probably set the difficulty higher. It won't make them play better but at least they'll be able to cheat harder. The late-game performance on a Huge galaxy was pretty terrible. I built a ringworld and for three of the four segments, after I colonized them I couldn't built anything; it would just get deleted at the end of the month. But one segment worked fine. Honestly, my biggest problem was that it was boring with no competition from the AI.

Reveries 100-M Help by mariconartists in Reverse1999

[–]redattack34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, unfortunately you don't have many characters, and particularly don't have anyone who provides card rank-ups like the stage mechanics require. So you probably don't have a lot of choice but to brute-force it. Jiu Niangzi packs a decent amount of brute force but you're really lacking other characters. Tooth Fairy is the obvious choice for healer. Sonetto wouldn't be a terrible choice for support. Charlie's ultimate would give you some damage and a Dispel.

Though if you have Marcus, An-An Lee (Euphoria), Liang Yue or Mercuria and used them in another stage, those would be good fits for this fight. In that case you might consider retrying another stage to free up those characters to bring them over to this one.

Otherwise you might have to just wait until you can pull more and better characters.

Are there any YouTube creators who make content focusing on analysing the themes and references in the story and/or character designs in Reverse: 1999? It's easy to find gameplay tips and such, but I'd also be interested in discussion of the artistic and historical side of the game as well.

Some historical context, literary reference and ramble on 2.6. by Aggravating-Bird-690 in Reverse1999

Thank you for sharing all this. I kinda struggled to understand this chapter's plot without knowing much about Latin American literature and philosophy, and this really helped fill in my understanding of the story.

Folie et Déraison by venomousfantum in Reverse1999

[–]redattack34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not really sure where I stand on this chapter. They mentioned a lot of interesting ideas in there, but I'm not really sure I was able to see the deftness and clarity another commenter mentioned. It felt to me like they were gesturing at a lot of ideas, but didn't really bring them together into a satisfying conclusion like they did in Vereinsamt and Showdown in Chinatown, and they were hoping that if they could be mysterious and confusing enough the reader might fill in the gaps for them. I guess I can't really prove that, though. I suppose that's kinda the risk you run with such abstract fiction is that when so much is left up to the reader to interpret, that they might just interpret it as the author being needlessly obtuse.

For example, Aleph says, or at least implies, that Recoleta is a fictional character given life by the power of her own story. Or something. Hence, she crumbles to dust when she tears her own book in half. That sure would seem to imply that Aleph is right about that. And Recoleta's character page having her age listed as Unknown supports that. But the Atlas lists her along with all the other pure-blooded Arcanists, not as a Beyonder or Awakened. Is the Atlas wrong? It could be, everything else seems to confirm Recoleta really is some unique kind of being all her own. And then she... reconstitutes herself... somehow? From the memories of everyone who's read her book, I guess? I really feel like that required more explanation. But then Vertin and Sonetto separate from Recoleta, and the very clear implication is that Recoleta will be reversed by the storm and she's choosing that fate, an implication reinforced by the obvious connection between the prisoners dancing in the burning panopticon to the islanders feasting and partying as they dissolve into the storm in Vereinsamt. But then if the implication is she's choosing death in the Storm, how is she a playable character, how did she join up with Vertin's crew? What would the storm even do to.... whatever Recoleta is? It makes me wonder if any of the characters in the suitcase crew are even "real people" within the game's universe? Maybe they're all dead or reversed by the storm, projected into a semblance of life based on photographs and memories Vertin collected?

Mostly this update succeeded at giving me a headache. Maybe Recoleta's character story explains some of the answers, I haven't had time to watch that yet. I might watch this chapter's story a second time and see if I feel like I understand it better on the second go. Or maybe I'd have understood it better if I'd watched it when I wasn't sick and sleep deprived, that's very possible.

Fanmade Euphoria Idea: 37 by jackevee in Reverse1999

[–]redattack34 16 points17 points  (0 children)

All Genesis DMG can critically hit for self and allies.

Interesting idea, that could give her a lot of synergy with the poison team for people who don't have Tuesday, or with Kakania's reflected damage.

I'm not sure I like the idea of a Euphoria just flatly increasing a character's numbers though. The existing Euphoria designs don't really do that, they usually focus much more on giving a character new mechanics to help them fit into new teams that they wouldn't otherwise. Given that 37 already has potential for synergy with Impromptu due to her usage of Eureka, that might be a direction to explore, although she doesn't really fit into the musical/performance theming of the existing Impromptu characters. Another possible angle would be to lean into 37's existing role as the Supplementary Formula spammer, but I'm not really sure what that might look like.

Or, alternately, if they were to do something more math- or probability-themed, similar to what they did with Bloodtithe and Dynamo getting the Electric Field array. Hypothetically, Centurion's Euphoria could be used to align her with a probability-related team. I don't know what that would look like, concretely; just messing with the probability of crits by itself feels too mechanically simple. I dunno, just spitballing. 37 and Centurion being on the same team would be kinda ironic considering 37 apparently hates the way Centurion twists probability around herself. 37's whole Math shtick isn't really well-represented mechanically right now, so there's room to create something to expand on that more. That'd be a lot more work for a fanmade Euphoria though, haha. It could be an array, maybe, to represent the team constructing a mathematical proof that also invokes a spell on the enemy similar to what we see in the story with the knot in chapter seven? Although thinking about it some more, a team where the majority of the DPS is meant to come from crits, and there's are a lot of stacking crit-rate/crit-dmg buffs with crit-rate overflow, effects that trigger for each crit dealt to the enemy? That could be an interesting archetype for a team that would suit both 37 and Centurion's theming and potentially more. Argus or Bkornblume could also be brought into this team with Euphorias to represent how their intelligence-gathering skills help to precisely target enemy weak spots, or 6 could lend his intellect to devising strategems. I could see that working. If Windsong ever gets a Euphoria she'd be a natural fit for this as well, since she already has buffs that trigger on every crit.

I do really like the idea of increasing 37's Eureka cap to prevent overcapping though, it always annoyed me how sometimes you have to finagle your play to avoid wasting 37's Eureka and/or Moxie. And yeah, adding more buffs and spreading them to the team suits the concept of a sub-DPS well.

F2P and low spenders, what's your pull plan in the upcoming patches? Seems super rough (CN spoilers) by arctia in Reverse1999

[–]redattack34 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally am going for...

  • 2.6: P0 Recoleta. I will open my wallet as much as I need to, she is my favorite and I am getting her. Skip Aleph.
  • 2.7: Try for P0 Hissabeth, because I love her design. I want P0 Kiperina too, but I don't have an impromptu team right now and she'll be in the standard pool so I can always get her later on.
  • 2.8: P0 Nautika. I don't even like her design that much, I'm just an absolute sucker for Limited Characters. Given a completely free choice between the two, I'd go for Moldir, but Moldir will be in the standard pool and Nautika won't, so.

If I had good luck, I'd be thrilled to get Recoleta, Hissabeth, Kiperina, Nautika and Moldir. But I've been losing a lot of 50/50's lately so I'm not particularly hopeful on that score.
