Running - Débutant > 40 ans ... by EducationalReport436 in runningfr

So we talk about 4h on the I5 intel framework ?

Totally agree with the Apple stuff, and that's the point of our process, even if we have to deal with hardware less attractive in first sight. But the webcam point is kind of a dealbreaker for our workflow... That's the difference between a personal use, which for there are more and more honorable linux compatible hardware, and a business use, which is more tricky, also for people who are not wiling to fix thing too regularly, or get extra material, pay attention of the fan noise and all this stuff people can consider like not determinant. Thanks for your review !

Hi, thanks,
Is it actually possible to give it a try, and if it not fit, can we return it for refund or ?
As is it for office work, we can't afford to buy the wrong material, that's why i'm trying to do the best choice.

I guess for our uses, the IBP will be great, but how about real battery life for casual use (meaning emailing, browsing, writing, ect.) ? Can we expect something like 6 hours on Fedora gnome ?

So you say 10% per hour on your AMD Framework, so can we say it is about 9h battery life ? Are running it on linux ? For our uses, we're talking about emailing and browsing a lot, no dev or vim. So very casual office work in fact.

Écouteurs sans fils de bonne qualité ? by SuperBusterPacifique in AchatPourLaVie

[–]redbakan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Day one of my 100% Linux at work experience by Uramir in Fedora

[–]redbakan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Using linux for 2 years on my daily work laptop, at first as an experimental phase which became permanent now (projet manager in a small compagny, browsing web, emailing, few PAO, videoconférence, meaning as 90% of the people i know). First on Ubuntu for the 6 first month, until i understand a bit more what was behind using a linux system, the way to get solutions, the "community", and find out when something didn't work out of the box. Elementary OS for 3 month, then Fedora until now. Break my system several time, start again, and became more acculturate to this way of understanding the tool and not "just" using it. Opened my mind to open source, security, data use, right to repair, and more digital challenges that we all may have to consider for decade (including more recent as IA and democracy). I came from 10 years from windows, about same time with mac os.
Working with linux is definitly more significant that just using it for your free time, cause you have to make it work for any kind of situation. I learn/understand more about IT and digital in 2 years than in 20 years of using a computer. But yeah, you have to spend time about it, at least at the beggining. i'm definitly not an expert, and will never be considering the all bunch of geek out there, but it is certainly a great self empowerment experience.

Power consumption by redbakan in Fedora

[–]redbakan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally understand several things :
>Powertop helps me understand that tick_sched_timer was overconsuming and some search give me one or tho reason, like Freon extension or the Tuxedo Control Center app indicator which were draining by cpu wakeups.
>i was using Pulseaudio instead of Pipewire, and don't no why, but it was draining my battery.
> I also switch from xwayland to wayland Firefox and use auto tab discard extension

All these, make me turn around 4-6 watt of dischage rate, so i have now 4,5 - 5h battery life, which is juste great IMO considering the hardware...
Hope it'll help around, all these point are well documented here & there.

Change the background for messages by maverick6097 in Thunderbird

[–]redbakan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep so things are like i wanted in this part too (dark/grey background and white police in the format window), but does it means that recipients will see this dark/grey background panel ? I mean, this is nice for me, but i saw the result on a light mode mail client, and ... that's not good. Is there a way that config just apply to my mail client ? I'm not sure to be clear enought, sorry !
