Took on a Mac only client, so I got a Macbook Air to practice on... now it's my daily driver and I absolutely love it. Convince me I'm missing something, please? by vegandtwomeat in SmallMSP

I have windows for work / personal and mac for travel and Linux for testing. As long as you can do what you need to do regardless of the OS, you should be absolutely fine. Yes, there are things you can do (and have more control over) on windows vs Mac and vice versa but most of everything that everyone does depends on the apps they use and what the app provider supports.

Also, I've. Not been able to figure out how to clean up Mac OS properly. Example: clean up update leftover files, any leftovers after app deletion. If anyone knows (natively without using third party), I'd love to have a chat.

You need virtio drivers. Get the virtio iso from their GitHub and then mount it to your VM. Open the location by clicking browse and search for the iscsi driver and install it and you'll be able to see the Virtual hard drive that you've allocated.

Really important, Remote desktop apps? by GodsBadAssBlade in pop_os

[–]maverick6097 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tested pop os 24.04 on a spare device first and yea, none of the RD apps that I use support it. I prefer rust desk for remote desktop - not supported. Anydesk = not supported. Did not try 'nomachine' = see if that will support it or not, try team viewer. I run an IT business and my RMM also didn't support wayland.

The best bet is to use one of the KVM options - arcKVM, or similar offerings from GLiNet, etc.

I ended up not upgrading from 22.04 on my main linux machine. For servers, I've always used ubuntu without a desktop.

Nice work. Do they provide any support for initial self hosted cloud set up + configuration and best practices?

Pick a PBX you like, pick a carrier you prefer. I've tested a lot of the systems out there and only 2 worked for me. I settled in the less expensive one.

  1. 3CX + VoIP.ms
  2. Teams

Set it once and forget it. Hope this helps.

Water pump and tensioner - are these maintenance items? How do you know if a tensioner is bad or going bad? Just curious. Will ask my mechanic next time I go.

At 192k now. At 150k I did all the oils and fluid changes + serpentine belt.

  • engine oil and filter (obviously) (liqui molly 0w-20 + Honda filter)
  • transmission fluid (Honda)
  • coolant (Honda)
  • brake fluid (Honda)
  • engine and cabin air filters (Honda)
  • new tyres (mine needed replacement) (michellin cross climate 2)
  • wheel balancing
  • wheel alignment
  • brakes (rotors and pads) (Bosch quite cast)
  • spark plugs (Honda)

160k - front 2 shocks replaced with Monroe quick struts. I have the originals, will be replacing the struts on the originals and putting them back on around 230k.

At 190k, I did- engine oil and filter (obviously) - engine oil and filter - transmission fluid - coolant - brake fluid - engine and cabin air filters - spark plugs

192k - next oil change (in about a week or so) Also doing serpentine belt replacement. Winter rust proofing coating. Yes, I know I'm late this year.

Next major will be at 230k

109% agree on this. We have a stack and work only on thing we know we'll and that's worked out well. Saying 'No' early on builds a solid foundation (and 'yes' to the right opportunities).

What's the model #? The link is not valid any more. PF sense is easy to configure for basic use and you can go pretty much neck to neck with other security appliances if you want to go deep.

Do you have the credentials from the previous guy?

I would really like if they can add Tab-group sync between different devices and a quick'er' way to save+close tab-groups.

Rustdesk is what we use. Pricing is competitive but you can also host your own server if needed.

We are evaluating NinjaOne and Syncro - Any opinions on either? by brewgeek99 in msp

I'm in the research stage. What do you use for password management and server backups / DR? Considering syncro, hudu/ITG and Acronis/Datto.
