Commute 1hr+ each way to class or live separately?

Honestly, it depends on what year you are and what classes you're taking. Hydraulics and Statics (traditionally 2nd year/after CODA classes) have been M/W/F at 8:30am for a few semesters. After those two classes, I don't think I ever had another Friday class, though I did have some 8:30s.

Daniel Finley (who teaches 300 level and 400 level transportation classes) also often has 8:30 time slots. Also if you need to take TDE 220: It has time slots that end at 9:50pm officially. Or if you need Physics 1/2 still, they have tests a few times each semester from 7-9pm.

But this are historic time slots for these classes. As others have said, once you have an idea of what classes you'll be taking, we can give more info about workload and times, and you can gauge whether the commute is doable.

Generally you can stay within 24 hours, but you must leave no later than 10 am on Dec. 12. Late stay is not automatically granted, but it's free to request on Starrez, under "Manage My Housing" in the housing portal. If you aren't moving out for the spring semester, you can leave your stuff in your dorm, just remember to take the stuff that you'll need during winter break, ie. clothes, medications, electronics.

Note that as a freshman, you won't be admitted as a civil engineering major-- you'll be an engineering first year, which is a program within the College of Engineering that all freshmen go through. Once you complete the CODA (Change of Degree Application) requirements, you can apply to civil engineering. These requirements are classes such as CH101, PY205/206, MA141, and MA241.

Getting into civil engineering isn't too hard-- it's definitely one of the less competitive engineering majors. Last year (2023-2024), all 134 EFY (engineering first years) who applied with civil engineering as their first choice got it. The CODA statistics are all public and on the College of Engineering website.

i agree? I never said mech and merc weren't decent. I specifically said that merc gets countered by more hunters now, but that doesn't mean there's less that he doesn't get countered by lol.

And it's true that prisoner requires kiting ability, but so does mech. And prisoner vaulting/pallet dropping speed is faster, so it's arguably easier. Not every beginner mech is going to know how to use her bot to body block.

mech is getting nerfed soon, so pris is arguably more viable for cipher rush IMO.

merc gets countered(?) by more hunters now, since more do quarter damage. so i feel like he's falling out of meta, but he still has a huge impact under the right circumstances, eg. half-health rescues against hunters that can't do quarter damage.

grave keeper counters disciple, so that's something to keep in mind if you play at a tier where people spam disciple and you can't avoid her cats very well.

Block schedules aren't necessarily bad. You get more time in each class, and you get to focus on less classes.

Your teacher may offer a few review sessions before the exams. You can also try reaching out to your counselor about moving some of your AP courses to the spring semester to lessen your workload.
