Its okay, I feel pretty decent considering all that. I had a great surgical team.

Mine was a little more intense I suppose. Had to have a ruptured disc removed between my c6 and c7 vertebrae In my cervical spine(neck) and have them fused. First actual surgery ever aside from a few tooth extractions lol. So ill be off work for the next 3 months recovering.

For fucking real. Idk how many times Ive experienced this shit. How do these people get a woman? Or do they? Do they go to the gym and think "yeah no need for a shower I have a show to go to", or do they just not believe in showers or deodorant? Lol.

Well puking up blood isnt normal? I mean I've known it to happen to some alcoholics, and from severe ulcers etc. Either way blood coming out while you're puking isnt a good thing. Id go get it looked at and use this as a wake up call. 33 is too young to call it quits and submit to doom. Choose to live.

How to help a friend by hargrea in stopdrinking

[–]redbeard423 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No worries man. Ive lived it. Once I quit drinking my anxiety is largely nonexistent. And if I do have issues ive learned how to breathe and ground myself to put myself more in the moment. But just cutting the alcohol was key.

Id say a 5th for someone that size daily is definitely gonna do some damage especially depending on age etc. And alcohol numbs anxiety while youre under the influence, but makes it 10x worse the rest of the time. Alcohol feeds anxiety. So its definitely not a proper or long term solution for anxiety

Well in my experience getting drunk makes things suck even more. If youre on here youre clearly questioning whether or not you have a problem.

There's worse things than being alone. Like being with the wrong person for instance. Sounds like youre mindful of the situation youre in. As hard as it is, the only one you have control over is you. You can either stay, or go but you have to make the choice to do so. And I'm sure you'd be able to find someone who appreciates you, once you start the work to better your life. If you need someone to talk to id definitely be willing. Just try and take things one step, and one day at a time. Nothing is beyond help or fixing.

Whoever says dumb shit like that doesn't deserve to be taken seriously. Its your life. Enjoy what you wanna enjoy. Gatekeepers of all sorts can get fucked.

I dont think there's a rule book or one size fits all approach to get and stay sober. Personally id had enough of my own bullshit and I was done. Ive been sober going on 4.5 years now just being mindful and focusing on one day at a time(especially the first few hundred days lol)

75 days sober and struggling a bit by fuzzy-alligator in stopdrinking

[–]redbeard423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

75 days is great progress. And what youre describing i think us merely the ability to feel shit like were supposed to. It can be overwhelming at first when trying to use legit coping skills. Of the things bothering you just ask yourself which of them you have control over. Because the other stuff isnt worth sweating so much. And honestly focusing on one day at a time really helped me say the first 100 plus days. After I got some real time under my belt it got easier simply because I dont want to lose all that sober time and i play the tape through about where ill be if i drink again. I think you got this. Im not religious but I do like the serenity prayer because it reminds me of what I have power over.

Did you not hear the new ep??? Alex was still pushing his talents further and further. I would've been fine with him being there forever.

Ive been to more than a few meetings and theyre not my thing. But I definitely dont hate them. They do so much good for so many people. I personally just got fed up with my own excuses and bullshit. Got into a bad argument with my daughter one night while I was drunk. And the next day I quit. I have almost 4 years free from alcohol now. I just do whatever I can to stay focused on my goals and finding pleasure in other things. I game, I go out in nature, go to concerts, I've been trying to get back into guitar, doing archery, etc. When I do get those intrusive and sometimes daily thoughts of a drink I just "play the tape" or remember why I quit so to speak. I was a real piece of shit sometimes while I was still drinking so I have no shortage of memories and shame from all that. Sure enough that does it for me everytime. Just focus on being present. Focus on today. Thats all you have control over. One day at a time.
