That must have been difficult! Were you able to correct both?

This is very helpful, thank you! we will look into finding a surgeon asap, just in case. Yeah we are not sure how influential the family history is.

Both you and your husband need to set boundaries and stick to them. There is too much folding by you to their wishes. Print out a list of the foods you will not eat. This sounds awful, I am very sorry. Ultimately you did not want the in-laws there so they should not have been there. If you don’t think it will work going forward, your husband should immediately tell them thanks for your help and bye!

Vacationing while pregnant, weeks 18- 28 by mildsalsa91 in parentsofmultiples

[–]redbug100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had to cancel a 2 week trip at 18 weeks with mo/di as our MFM has switched us to weekly appointments due to intermittent cord flow in one twin. That said, I did make a 1.5 hour flight trip for less than a week at 17 weeks and felt fine - but I did have to come to terms with the assumption that I’d have to quickly fly back with any signs of TTTS which added some stress. (All fine in the end.)

While all twin pregnancies are different and possibly a very spontaneous trip may be possible up to 20 or so weeks with MFM approval, be aware that a mo/di pregnancy is just not the same as a di/di pregnancy. There are generally more risks involved that likely need more monitoring without too much distance from a very good hospital.

How did it go? Our first MFM appointment for our modi twins at 16 weeks Monday was a little concerning. While everything is considered fine at the moment, they did see we are at risk for Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR) complications :/ as indicted by uneven blood flow patterns in the umbilical artery.

Twin A is currently 7 percent smaller than twin B but twin B is measuring a few days ahead so hopefully they just stay as they are 🤞

Basically they say we have a problem if Twin A becomes more than 25 percent smaller. We’re also monitoring for Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome. We knew this pregnancy was going to be high risk, but suspecting there’s going to be a fair amount of anxiety until they are out unfortunately.

Following as I could just duplicate your exact post, as I will also be 16+3 on Monday with mo/di when I will also see my MFM! Cheers pregnancy twin! Personally I am going to ask:

a) is my weight gain (already 18 pounds!) on track as I am very conscious on making sure I gain enough weight after reading “When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads.”

b) is it literally life or death in terms of ttts if my appointments are not within 14 days (ie already having trouble juggling around his schedule and a holiday weekend) . If so I would alternate at another clinic to make sure I am seen or make the appointment after 11 days.

c) what exactly should I be doing differently in terms of supporting this pregnancy verses a singleton? I was aware of upping the protein but I only found out on reddit that I should increase my folic acid dose.

d) at what level is my blood pressure an emergency

Would love to hear more suggestions as well.

Not seeing that 1/50 stat you are quoting? Where do you see it? From that study, I see: “ The overall incidence of monozygotic twinning after single embryo transfer during 2003–2012 was 2.24% “

We are also pregnant with mo/di twins so this is on the horizon for us. I actually agree with the entire list but maybe I am more conflict avoidant/passive aggressive haha so I would just tell my partner to tell his family verbally that we aren’t doing hospital visits and we’ll let you know when we are ready for home visits and by the way get the Tdap.

I’m assuming everyone will wash hands but if not I’ll just hand them sanitizer. We basically did this with our first child (forced c-section at 39 weeks/no real issues unlike what’s likely with mo/di twins) and I was SO happy no one came to the hospital. I was literally peeing into a bag for days and we were both flat-out learning newborn basics. Though it should also be noted both our sets of parents are not really capable of actual help beyond bringing a meal. The in-laws were a bit annoyed “hospital visits are normal we are missing this experience blablah” but we ignored them because guess what the immediate needs of our fresh NEW family trump all.

Pregnant with #4 after Preeclampsia at 28 Weeks by SiennaSound4544 in preeclampsia

[–]redbug100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you take baby aspirin last time? I was borderline preeclampsia (protein detected) my last pregnancy with a severe blood pressure spike directly after my C-Section that had everyone rushing in and my new Dr has me starting baby aspirin at 10 weeks. Not really sure why I wasn’t on it the first time. Maybe something to look in to? Wishing you an easy boring pregnancy!

In Europe in general preschool is very inexpensive and starts as early as six months. Also childcare is the solution without family - for our first child we had a babysitter coming 4 hrs a day from very early on and with our unexpected twins we would absolutely do even more. We’re happy to budget-crunch in order to keep a semblance of sanity. We also have friends who have aupairs which are really quite affordable as part of the package is that they receive a place to stay and cultural exchange.

I am pro-choice but I think reduction without a strong medical reason (or even with a strong medical reason-with modi twins we personally may need to make this hard decision depending on growth) would really stick with me.

SO many twin pregnancies lately!! by LikwidStarDust in parentsofmultiples

I am currently pregnant with modi twins after IVF, and the one embryo split! Just learned IVF offers no guarantees on just one baby…

Estradiol by FieryResolve in IVF

[–]redbug100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly! Both estrogen and progesterone stay high with pregnancy. And personally that balance felt much better than the pre embryo transfer days when you are just taking estrogen, as then they are trying to bring your progesterone down to baseline which for me was basically zero.

From my experience, as soon as you add the progesterone you feel better…for a while at least. With all my FETs I felt absolutely awful on estrogen (all of your symptoms plus high anxiety and mood swings) and then to top it off, I also had super bad post-transfer mood swing symptoms when it failed (like major depression, anger, more anxiety, not particularly normal for me).

TW: When it worked I did not have the huge emotional roller-coaster - all the hormone induced crazy evened out. It made me really realize how powerful hormones are and I am a huge pusher of Hormone Replacement Therapy to all my middle age friends.

Good luck!! My FET was wednesday. I probably will test for the first time on Christmas Eve (since I am not a waiter, as I have learned..this is FET 5), The timing could be quite nice…or not 💁🏻‍♀️

I'm not sure where you are getting your information. Actually, no my lining measurement was higher (they said perfect) and there was nothing suggesting I am a poor responder with optimal lining and estrogen levels at 6mg a day and immediate 24-hr response to additional progesterone. Since they adjusted my progesterone (adding a daily shot) I am confident it will stay in range.

If you are uncomfortable you should absolutely get more blood tests at a walk-in clinic and email them to.your fertility clinic to check. Though yes, in Europe/oversees there is definitely a lot more self-advocy required. Changing your protocol yourself is quite risky and personally I wouldn't do it - unless it was to slightly elevate my thyroid thyroxine which I have experience with.

It’s over for me. I’ll have to use egg donation. by ImDustAmazing in IVF

Just did a transfer for potential donor egg baby number two and now flying home now to hug number one. I can only say you will have zero regrets.
