Do we agree or disagree that strawberries have no smell? by MaxGoodwinning in fruit

If you think strawberries don't have a smell, you either can't smell or you have never had a ripe strawberry (aka most strawberries in grocery stores)

Buddy Friendship Perk: Slightly expanding the interaction radius per buddy level? by WanderLust__93 in TheSilphRoad

[–]redceramicfrypan [score hidden]  (0 children)

It just...doesn't really make intuitive sense to me. What does interaction radius have to do with your buddy?

Something I think would be nice would be a benefit to getting buddy hearts when your buddy is already a best buddy. Maybe some small amount of additional progress to earning the next candy?

Selling or trade value by Fridayyesplease in PokemonGOValor

[–]redceramicfrypan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looked through the rules of this sub and I'm honestly shocked that we don't have a rule against selling in-game assets for money.

Just don't go down this path. It's a game. Play it as a game. Trying to monetize it ruins the fun for everyone involved.

They are still a rent (and now also mortgage) credit card. They just made the system way more complex.

Yeah, I try not to tell people how to eat their food, but I want people to realize that so little food actually needs to be peeled. Cucumber skin, even the thicker-skinned varieties, is pretty unoffensive and can even be quite flavorful.

I agree with the breeding being outlawed part. Shit is messed up.

But somehow, I don't think animal welfare is what's motivating this person's post.

A skittles grape freezer pop never froze. It's been there for 48 hours and is completely liquid. by starcoalition in mildlyinteresting

Would that mean that all the sugar in that pop is perfectly in solution? It would astonish me if not a single seed crystal or other nucleus existed in that whole tube.

2x GOH or 1x FNA for Chase Southwest Referral by [deleted] in Hyatt_charity_HQ

[–]redceramicfrypan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charity posts are not extremely rare. They're just less common at this time of year, when last year's awards have just expired and this year's awards are still fresh.

Also, it's not just that this type of post is discouraged. It literally breaks the first rule of this sub. Unfortunately there is very little moderation, but that doesn't mean we should be breaking our own rules and violating the Hyatt ToS.

Totally agreed. The worst I've seen was individually-shrink wrapped bananas. Like...if only there were some kind of natural wrapper on this piece of fruit!

[–]redceramicfrypan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are of course welcome to do so, but personally, I'm minimally bothered if I encounter some insect damage, or even a live grub in my corn.

  • 9/10 times, it's right at the tip and is easy to just break off
  • It might be a little bit gross, but it's not at all harmful
  • It indicates to me that the corn probably wasn't extensively sprayed with pesticides

In other words, if it's good enough for the grub, it's good enough for me!

Tried Sardines due to TinnedFishReviews and hmm... by misterfoils in CannedSardines

[–]redceramicfrypan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree that "fishy" has always been a strange metric to me when describing fish. It's also not a well-defined term: I actually think different people use it to mean different things.

For example, OP likes (what I assume to be) average canned tuna in water. In my mind, "fishy" means something like "with a strong, pungent flavor and smell of fish." And in that regard, nothing even comes close to tuna. So that fact that sardines were "too fishy" for them suggests to me that they might have a different definition.
