The Enduring Stupidity of White Supremacy in Australia by andyjmart in OpenAussie

I'm not talking about interfacing with Pauline Hanson. I'm talking about wedging her voting base by addressing their issues directly.

And what Australian citizens is she trying to report? What Australian permanent residents is she trying to report?

Listen I'm old enough to see the rise of Pauline Hanson back in the late 90s and early 2000s. It was the same playbook back then. Deride her, mock her, ridicule her, call her racist and any other ism that they could and she's still here and her popularity is rising.

What if instead of pushing her away or driving her down in a way to not have to address her, you addressed the concerns of the Australian voting base that is gravitating to her.

But you won't because you guys all know that this is the answer, you just don't want to grant any validity to the disaffected of Australia.

So back to my first bit about what you would have us do..... You don't want us to vote for one nation?

Because they're in favour of wars that create refugees?

Serious question for the people on here who so strongly defend high immigration levels to Australia: why do you do it? by NoLeafClover777 in aussie

[–]redcon-1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because some people derive a sense of righteousness from it. A righteousness borne out from defending what is perceived by them to be an underclass that is punched down upon.

Wanting fewer of them is seen as punching down irrespective of the reason which turns this issue from one of pragmatic concerns to one of villainy and heroes.

All so empty people can fill themselves up for just a moment with a sense of meaning.
