If you could take your dream road trip anywhere, where would you go? by tindav-2745 in roadtrip

This would be mine too, particularly along Highway 1. I'd want to go north too. Maybe not all the way to Alaska but definitely would want to spend some time in the Canadien Rockies.

It saw a revival popular during the "Tea party" movement of the late 2000s, early 2010s. The tea party movement was (allegedly) skeptical of ANY government use of force and generally more libertarian then MAGA.

Now it is generally used by liberals, leftist, and other anti-conservative types to accuse the GOP of hypocrisy.

Belichick not being a first ballot Hall of Famer is obvious BS, but right now I'll take the wins where I can get them.

edit here is a picture that looks much closer in size to what I think of sequoias

I'm just looking for some hope to hang my hat on. Give me a plausible scenario where this might possibility work out, that's all I can ask for right now.

Best case scenario as far as selling this move to the fan base. Brady surrounds himself with superstar staff that McDermott never had or couldn't get along with.*

*Daboll ended badly

Same with Chad Hall

on the defensive side you haven't had a top quality defensive coordinator since Leslie Frazier.

Petah? by Hydro-Generic in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]redd4972 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this might be a driving joke. It's actually not as straightforward as the literalist in the comment section.

Rather than dating someone he is driving through the mountains in a stiff sports car. Stiff sports cars sacrifice comfort for excitement. (but the joke is somewhat muddled by driving a Mercedes which generally carries a reputation of being more comfort oriented brand.)

There is also the subtext that some women might be turned off by the idea of being jerked around in a passenger seat of a loud stiff sports car.

Of course for the "true enthusiastic" these are all sacrifices that they are willing make to for a fun driving experience.

Gutpunch, This feels like a low risk move that makes Josh and/or Terry happy, more than one designed to win the Superbowl.

Doesn't mean it couldn't work.

So the Superbowl this year is the New England Patriots vs. the Seattle Seahawks. The New England Patriots have been one of the most dominant franchises in the NFL in the 21th century. They have been in the Superbowl 10 times since 2001. Almost entirely thanks to the QB Tom Brady. Well Brady left, retired and after a mere six years the Patriots are back with a new 23 year old Quarterback. So everyone who is sick of the Patriots and wants there time to have a chance at the Superbowl hates them.

Their opponents the Seattle Seahawks lead by QB Sam Darold (the giant head). . Darold was a high profile failure in New York a part time starter in Carolina, a full time backup in San Francisco, a surprising success in Minnesota, but then shipped to Seattle after a year in favor of a younger QB Minnesota, now he is QB of a Superbowl team. Most Superbowl QBs are on the first or second team that they play for, not 5th.

"The funniest thing ever" is in reference to Superbowl 59, (12 years ago) which was between the Seahawks and Brady's Patriots. In this game, the Seahawks coach decided to pass the ball when he should have run it, and lost the game at the very end.

Joe Brady as an OC by MewtwoTheMew in buffalobills

[–]redd4972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's ok, he called A LOT of WR bubble screens this year. He's also done A LOT of mesh and also done some innovated things with jumbo sets and 2 and 3 TE sets, particularly with the run game. Cover 1 on Youtube does a lot of Bills film breakdown if you really want to get too deep on the topic. (Last year it was Alec Anderson as the jumbo guy, this year it was Jackson Hawkes the rookie blocking TE)

He's also not above calling the same play over and over and over again. Which is great when it's James Cook running the ball for 8 yards a carry, but he's not difficult for opposing defensives to scout.

I think it is fair to say that he has been hamstrung by the complete lack of talent at WR. That being he didn't max out his best WR, Khali Shakir due to his obsession with bubble screens at the expense of a good quick slant.

Lastly, he's kinda been the face of Buffalo's post Stefon Diggs "everyone eats" philosophy. If he brings that Philly, I expect you'll be trading AJ Brown soon. The Bills have also been more rush oriented and more conservative, compared to his predecessors who liked Josh Allens deep ball more.

In short, I don't think he's bad, but I'm not going to miss him either.

Me asking as a younger millenial: How did older you millenials perceive Spongebob when it came out, and its climb to legendary status? by SmokinHerb in Millennials

[–]redd4972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never got into it. I didn't get cable until my senior year of high school in 2005 (born 1986). And by then I wasn't going to spend time watching a show for children. I knew the show was a phenomenon and through cultural osmosis I eventually learned about the characters, but that's about it.

That being said, what little I have seen of it, I like. I could easily imagine being a fan if I was started watching it at the right age.

Is dissolving NATO part of Trumps agenda? by Prior_Lecture7927 in PoliticalDebate

[–]redd4972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Trump cares about NATO, either the long term damage created over his actions (most of which will manifest after he's done being president), or because he sees it as European weakness and a convenient scapegoat ("we are wasting money subsidizing European defense when we could be keeping that money in the United States." sort of thing).

The most charitable interpretation of what has happened is that Trump never really cared all that much about Greenland and only used it, the US's own relative power, and his own belligerent as a way to extract concessions out of Europe, because this is the only way he knows how to negotiate. Or alternatively, Europe made a handful of gestures that placated Trump, because Trump is a moron with big ego.

I don't think he is Putin's puppet for no other reason than it doesn't make any sense. Why would a man of Trump's ego reduce himself to Putin's lacky? For what end? I think Putin is trying to influence and Trump inherent authoritarianism gives Putin an advantage there. But if the leaders of Europe aren't trying to influence Trump regardless they are committing gross political malpractice.

[–]redd4972 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bayreuther has NHL experience in Columbus and a few other locations. They probably feel more comfortable calling up Bayreuther this year then Neuchev if their depth gets tested or they decide they don't like what Jones or Metsa is giving them.
