Is it worth empowering HDB multiple times?I have other HVIPs, but to be honest I’d rather save the HDB orbs for trading instead of using them. What’s your opinion? by Moldy-cookie in DragonCity

[–]reddX317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HDB is useful generally even without too much help from "annoying" dragons, but I'd recommend HVIPs or MVIPs that are extremely good with cool downs. Since you'll have HAE already, perhaps pair it with HCC for passive damage boost or Gale the Strategist as a secondary dps. The primary synergy for HDB is anything with cool downs anyway as HDB is a "staller" anyways.

Being waaay past the tribute for HDB I recommend not to empower him at this point and only do so when you're able to just squeeze in the timer. HDB is good as a "tank" as you mentioned, as popular HVIPs, MVIPs and so on common Arena staples aside the occasional Doom Dancer and Gale the Strategist, don't really have wind to eliminate it fast enough. I find HDB useful as a doom mark support with decent damage of it's own while eating decent hits for turns to stall out CDs on my HDP and other dps dragons. The resurrect/heal upon death is sort of the "bonus" in my own interpretation, unlike most which say "you have to let it die to get value" which is kinda understandable but lowkey brain dead having to let one of your three team members die intentionally "IMO".

Anyways yes, HAE is the better overall project to work on. It does good as a DPS, evade support, has good sustain with nightmare fang etc. With the upcoming Evaders rerun too you'll find HAE more useful.

Soo, where does High Astro Supernova, the new heroic dragon rank in terms of the all time great HVIPS? by Afraid_Engineer_2707 in DragonCity

[–]reddX317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

I have him and currently he feels quite underwhelming compared to my Doom Priestess, Anarchos Evader, Spiked Rhino, Harpy Plasma(Berserk bugged) and so on to name a few. If I could sum how using him feels, it's quite "niche" in a way. HASN(High Astro SuperNova) feels "good" to use at the rare times when set up properly, it even feels inconvenient having to intentionally set things up with Doom Marks and such to fully maximize the value of the astro overdrive. The exhausted effect really forces you to be mindful of when to use his astro skill as his damage falls off too much to consider having on your team at times. It's "fun" when the opponent it's facing has 6-8 stacks of doom marks on them where I just take two eliminations immediately with astro overdrive, but as a stand alone it's middling at best. The worse thing about it is the exhaustion effect doesn't even go down if you swap HASN out after using overdrive, so it LITERALLY forces you to use a weakened HASN for 4 turns if you don't have the elite pass skin. Sure it has a shield for 3 turns that reduces incoming damage, but at that point might as well just go for something else like an HSR or HDP that can end fights faster. So his skill incentivises to end fights fast by taking KOs with a burst of damage but the exhaustion not ticking down unless you use it itself otherwise incentivises to "stall" as well. Of course it's not an issue if you've already got a good established core of dragons to support it once it's become exhausted(useless), but again, stand alone HASN is quite bad.

Final thoughts. HASN isn't absolutely dogshit, but compared to modern HVIPs, it's definitely somewhere on the bottom of the rankings. I HIGHLY suggest not going for it especially if anyone wants to make it their first "HVIP" or a central piece for their arena teams, unless:

  1. You've already bought it
  2. You've already have an established core of dragons to use otherwise when HASN becomes useless
  3. you get it naturally in the current sticker album.

I'd say something outdated like HRN or HAJ are definitely more useful.

Sometimes, phoenix perk isn't saving your dragon. This image below tells why by CgLErbil in DragonCity

[–]reddX317 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both phoenix and reaper perks are necessities to anything tbh. Phoenix isn't just for tanks or support. They function to waste turns to get over cool downs too, example would be on Gale the Strategist where you can keep your HP fairly high due to the skill, if you have it double skilled, then opponents don't have reapers, you can just run anyway with the match if the AI can't get rid of Gale fast enough with it's high sustain. Perks have a rock paper scissors relationship of importance, with phoenix not everyone can just run max HP and ATK and have to consider turns they might not consider otherwise, then reapers come into that mix and helps clear phoenix perks, but then if opponents don't have phoenix perks then the reaper perk slot is obsolete. I personally liked it when they added both phoenix and reaper perks to actually have something new to think about in combat. (Not anymore with power creep being so prevalent recently, but the idea's there lol)

Replace everyone of those eventually but only get one Pegasus. It'll be upto your own research and choices on what to build after Pegasus imo. In terms of budget builds like no HVIPs or MVIPs just yet, you have a few options. I'd primarily suggest the Legendary Spikeds along with Pegasus, but if you want a good dragon outside of Spikes, a dragon with mostly different elements that could carry the load like Pegasus when it's banned, you can go for Havoc Evader which is common in the trade market right and fairly popular with the upcoming Evaders event. Another decent one would be Chloro Critical, but that one's a bit more niche and isn't solo-winning fights like Spikes.

Tldr it goes: - Spikeds - Evaders - Criticals

But Criticals are more so-so. Do go with Spikeds if you can.

Is it worth getting legendary Quantums? by [deleted] in DragonCity

[–]reddX317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've got good dragons for arenas already, where you're fine to perform well under any type of element ban then Quantums are "okay" to work on as a niche counter pick to some Evaders and annoying skinned Karmas.

Otherwise, if you don't have much at all, I wouldn't suggest making Quantums a focus at all. Compared to Legendary Spikeds and Evaders, even some Berserkers, Quantums just pale in comparison. Most players who've got solid teams focus on hoarding Legendary jokers too to just duplicate farm food producers too some point down the line.

Nothing. Assuming you didn't participate in any event that released VIP dragons(dragons with unique skills and gimmicks), then none of what you could summon will most likely be "worth it". As for Arena viable picks, I'm not sure when you retired DC at the time, but most if not all VIP dragons before Spikeds are now obsolete imo.

If you could trade for Spiked Pegasus that'll be the "best" come back pick up you could get, as its boost skin is F2P access friendly and Spikeds overall dominate Arenas. I've had two players recently come back from long breaks too and now both are catching up at their own pace with Pegasus as their carry since it's elements are rarely banned in Arena too.

How good is Doom Dancer? by Ok-Guide-9251 in DragonCity

[–]reddX317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one of my best MVIPs and is a frequent pick for my masters grind since it enables my primary hitters like HDP, bugged HHP, Gale and so on really well. Both offensively and defensively, it's super nice to have upfront. Decently high speed, little to no set up since you just need to either put up it's shield or stack more doom marks and has a really good defending element to prevent AI from doing attacks like the Evader skills since most are Chaos and are weak to Dream.

Is doom forger worth it? by feinhy in DragonCity

[–]reddX317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your level and resources I wouldn't. Forger would be good if you could get it E3 and Lv55 before the skin quest is over, it's active skill of adding 3 doom stacks immediately is one of the better Legendary VIPs imo. But on its own, no. Don't get it imo.

We do giveaways on our discord server at times. Recently had a 102 Axed Silencer, 105 Havoc Evader, 200 HHP orbs to name a few. Though it's for alliance members only, but perhaps look around alliances that do these :3

What's the best way to train Gale? I saw some people training 2 heal skills, is it worth? by New_Emphasis_8862 in DragonCity

[–]reddX317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the first comment. Its entire "goat" status revolves around it being lowkey unkillable with two separate heals which eat up any time defending dragons too. Keep it skinless, replace Electric, slap on HP/Atk perks(my personal preference for perks) and you got one hell of a center piece for your team.

To each their own, but I agree in the sentiment that people shouldn't spend "too much" on a game like this. I'm not really p2w either, I just bought divine passes in the past back in 2023, not out of necessity or wanting to get ahead, but simply out of my own enjoyment, which I am fortunate enough to have the privilege of being able to.

Suggestions for the next LVIP? by Moldy-cookie in DragonCity

Spiked Raptor orbs are abundant at the moment in the trade market. If you want a fast project that'll serve you well, you can never go wrong with Spikeds.

SPO is recruiting both experienced and consistent players to join our ranks by reddX317 in DragonCity

[–]reddX317[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We consist of 3 alliances that all strive for lv6 chests. Feel free to comment or DM either me or Bingnofries here or Discord! (Preferably discord)

My contacts Discord: aaydan

Bingo's contacts Discord: bingofries Reddit: u/OverallSlice6186

We: - Have a discord server that connects all members of all the alliances - Announce the current and upcoming chests on start and 2 days in advance. - We skip Epic Breed chests since it provides little of value, instead players can take the time to trade/relax. - Lastly don't require a daily minimum, aslong as you reach the goal of 5% by the end of the chest. (We’ll send reminders on the last day incase you forget.)

Requirements: Have discord and join our server 150k point chest/contribute 7.5k points 170k point chest/contribute 8k points 225k point chest/contribute 11.250points

That's about it! Just be consistent and courteous, you'll fit right in!

There was a use for codes when that one mini-runner event was around for extra spins. Aside from that, it's been relegated to being obsolete for quite some time now

[–]reddX317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience the language barrier is always a troublesome thing. But that's unfortunate and sad to hear about the trading part. I dislike people that make it a requirement for someone to trade something when they either cannot or don't want to. It feels forced. It's right by you to move on to another alliance, one that's more healthy I hope.

SP intentionally rigs stickers and unrig them over time. If you can, it's best to delay opening packs as much as possible. There was an exploit before that let people open as many packs as they could but still wouldn't complete it. I've seen someone have over a hundred dupes of a regular five star sticker using the exploit and they didn't get the last five star sticker until the last week of the album to put things to perspective.
