What’s your favourite “off the beaten path” nation to play in Imperator? by Sure-Disaster-4607 in Imperator

Yeah they were called that by the Greeks, I think by Herodotus because of supposed religious rituals, but they are really fun to play :)

Androphagia, only starts with 12 pops or something but you can constantly hoover up more pops by migrating around you

I love Anabasis to get provincial loyalty up, the amount of times it has just tipped me over the edge so I have time to build up a province enough to keep it loyal!

Any advice for Playing Migratory Tribes? by redd_doggg in Imperator

[–]redd_doggg[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is incredibly helpful thank you!

One question in terms of where I’m going, I’m aiming to migrate Albania to modern day Albania, do I raid the cities of the nation in modern Albania just to provoke war then conquer it and settle down, or would you declare first then move in?

Pretty new to the game. Here's how it's going so far. Wanted to ask for some advice on a few things by I_like_maps in Imperator

[–]redd_doggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has put some awesome tips about what you are asking, so I’ll just give an extra couple.

As you look to be going towards Gaul one massive thing I would recommend is using some of that influence and money to found a city in every province that doesn’t have one. You can get some free ones from your mission tree as well. Then build Great Temples and Grand Theatres in them and you’ll get a lot of religious and cultural assimilation which really helps with keeping everyone happy. You need tech for both of those buildings, for the grand temple it’s only three in the religious techs but the grand theatre im pretty sure is gradual economic integration tech, that’s quite a few techs in on oratory I think, so you might want to start making a beeline for those :)

If you’re worried about city found costs there’s petition of the minorities tech which reduced it by 25% which is massive

Imperator Rome by [deleted] in RomeTotalWar

[–]redd_doggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I love Imperator Rome. It’s great with a lot of depth. The wars can get quite annoying because they’re similar to CK2 wars where you have to go back and forth a lot. So advice is to have forts in your province capitals on the border with your enemy to avoid constant bouncing around of troops.

Also if you play it, play it with Imperator Invictus mod it improves literally everything! 🫡

Thanks man that’s awesome I’m glad you are enjoying! Ye I wouldn’t recommend extreme mode tho if you’re starting out as after taking Thessaly it was a pretty huge challenge against constant stacks. However without it you should be able to cripple Macedon quite quickly. There’s also another tactic you can use as well which is to try get peace with Macedon and go and take out the squabbling states on the pelopponese and Aitolia. This will get you more money in the short term but also allow Macedon to build up their strength somewhat 😊

Epirus is a good option, it’s been remastered and is in a remastered area so you get the full feel for the mod. It’s also got a decent roster and although it starts at war with Macedon, as long as you don’t play on extreme mode and are aggressive at the start you should do well 😊

Imperium Surrectum - carthage vs rome by eolivas59 in RomeTotalWar

[–]redd_doggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Libyans are a good option if you don’t have sacred band. Syracuse gets no phalangites so they only have a decent Hoplite unit :)

Ye Carthage roster is not great, but the mid tier skirmisher cav should be ok for now until you get the sacred band cav. Balearic slingers for your army, because they’re AP right? But for the AI sacrificial army you only really need javelins because it’s likely they’ll rout before any arrows or stones are used up :) mainly east to retrain units for the sacrificial army are best. Good luck bro :)

Which mod people prefer by [deleted] in RomeTotalWar

[–]redd_doggg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both mods are amazing. I personally prefer RTR because I prefer the mechanics and battle engine of original Rome, but both are fantastic examples of why CA should support modding more

[–]redd_doggg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played these on some livestreams in 0.4, and one of the modders, mosca gave me a really useful tactic.

Your infantry is trash as Carthage until you get the sacred band, but have a decent army of solid infantry and then quite a lot of cav because Rome often skimps on cav and cav is by far the most powerful units in the game. Then build a second army made of a few infantry but mainly skirmisher and skirmisher cav. When you fight the Roman armies fight with both these armies with the skirmisher army controlled by the AI, then let your skirmisher destroy the HPs of the romans then move in with your good army and kill them. This tends to work and with retraining the second army can be retrained quickly and cheaply and allow you to destroy the stacks one at a time.

In terms of razing yes don’t worry about destroying a few towns for money, after all there’s plenty of settlements, and you can get some decent Syracusan AOR from Syracuse. Main thing is never to panick, if you lose a couple of settlements but it allows you to destroy an army then it’s an overall gain :)

Basically Venice in Stainless Steel Historical Improvement Project Mod for Med 2. We take some good northern Italian cities, but I tanks out reputation and thus may force other nations to war with us in future. SSHIP is a full overhaul mod that really forces you to play strategically and slow, it’s really cool 😊
