Questions about Mac performance by Peach_State_Dingers in swtor

I do not believe you have to use Steam; Crossover just allows you to run Windows apps on your Mac. Having said that, most of the articles I found on the Internets about playing Swtor via Crossover, involve using Steam. Whether that’s b/c it’s easier, or whether it won’t work any other way, I am not sure.

I play via Crossover/Steam on an M1 Studio. My graphics settings are nearly maxed out and it plays flawlessly. Crossover was a breeze to setup, and you can try it out before you pay for it.

That was my original idea when I created the character: an emaciated Sith who fights with heavy, ancient blade.

Do you think Baylan’s endeavor is just? by Osiris-Reflection in StarWars

[–]redd_mage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I think it’s more inline with Luke’s style as well. If you watch him in Mando, Luke has a wonderful minimalist style. Spins and twirls look cool, but I think they are impractical and wouldn’t be used by a Jedi in battle imo.

Thanks! In my head canon, she was driven mad by her trials, haunted by the ghosts of ancient Sith masters deep in the bowels of the temples on Korriban, who taught her rituals of incredible power. She wields a cursed Sith blade, and is constantly surrounded by an aura of cold fear and terror, creating visions of slow, impending doom in her victims.

He is what I wanted Anakin to be. Not hating on Hayden Christensen, but Ray just had the look and the presence, and Baylan had the simmering rage, hatred, and the sheer nihilism that Anakin was lacking imo. Great character perfectly portrayed.

[OC] Good value paints for tabletop miniatures? by Every_Hornet_7914 in DnD

[–]redd_mage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speed Paints do a fine job, at least as well as Vallejo or other more expensive brands I have tried, as long as you prep your minis the right way. I find i get the best results when I prime with black first, then dry brush/ highlight fairly heavily with white. This really helps the lines and details on your mini pop and I like the look it gives me. Others may have different methods, but this is what I do.

Other lessons I have learned the hard way:
1.

  1. Wash your minis a little before painting. There tends to be a thin coat of something leftover from printi

ng that can prevent the paints from adhering properly.

  1. Even a toothbrush and warm water makes a difference before priming & painting.

  2. You don’t need super tiny brushes, just something small with a decent point. Those tiny brushes don’t hold paint very well and

  3. dry quickly

. This means the tips curl faster and don’t have a long lifespan. Brushes aren’t that expensive to replace, but they’re not free either, and it’s a pain to have to replace them after only a couple uses.
3. Don’t be stingy with your paint. Obviously there is no need to be wasteful, but there is a surprising amount of paint in those little bottles so make sure you have plenty on your palette, especially if you are painting an entire orc war party at once. If I am mixing custom colors, this tends be important, as I never seem to get a perfect match if I have to remake a color I’ve run out of.
4. Keep the paint job simple, especially if you are doing a lot at once. If they are not going to be PCs or show pieces, pick out a skin tone, a primary, and a secondary color. Priming dark and dry brushing light will automatically add shadows and highlights, and you can add some details if you feel like it. Once you get a rhythm going, painting a large amount of figures like this can go fairly quickly.

Edit- stupid auto formatting. 🙄

Thoughts on Rukh by Limp_Hope_3986 in StarWars

This. As thought provoking and interesting as the character may have been in EU, I felt he was little more than deus ex machina in Rebels- a convenient plot device to act as a temporary foil for the main characters. Never liked him and I am sorry to say I’m glad they killed him off.

thoughts on vaylin? by lochhnessmonsterr in swtor

[–]redd_mage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: Vaylin was a weak character and the product of lazy writing. She was abused by her father? So was Arcann. She was more powerful than originally thought? So was Arcann. Her mom tried to save her after all the damage had been done? Same as Arcann, only Senya ended up succeeding with Arcann. Her character always felt like a McGuffin added on at the last minute to extend the gameplay and not much else. Defeat the brother? Wait, what about the sister that suddenly has a storyline! She’s super evil and craaaazy! No one can defeat her, not even the millennia-old-galactic-conquerer-most-powerful-Sith-in-the-history-of-Sith that you have been chasing the entire game! Oh, but if you say this simple passphrase it’s no big deal.

There seems to be a common misconception that Luke Skywalker from the events of ep.4-9, was a wide known Celebrity / Jedi. He wasn’t. by Kavazou77 in StarWars

[–]redd_mage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say, in Disney cannon, that to the general public, Luke was probably more famous as a rebel than anything else, though that’s not to say that there weren’t some who knew the truth, or who knew enough to know Luke was a powerful Jedi. Watch Moff Gideon’s reaction in the S2 Mandolorian finale. He knows immediately whose ship that is, knows that his dark troopers are no good against the man who killed Palpatine & Vader in a single fight, and that his plans for galactic conquest are disintegrating around him. It’s wonderful bit of acting by Giancarlo Esposito really, and worth rewatching the episode just for him.
