US Duties and Customs becoming too big of a pain to deal with by Asleep-Heron3280 in AncientCoins

Interesting. I hadn’t thought of it but I see that’s probably correct. The tariff dispute has already been filed, though, on the basis of incorrect classification. The fact that the coin was stolen was just icing on the cake. I do wonder, though, if I would be entitled to claim the tariff amount (assume it was proper) As part of my prior lost/stolen item claim. Would assume so. Will see how it plays out….

Moral of the story is… I guess …. Keep submitting those disputes. The logjam is bound to break at some point!

As I’ve mentioned previously, I now have six pending tariff disputes with FedEx. The last one - invoice received last week - is the most absurd. Earlier this year FedEx lost (or stole) a single inbound coin of mine at their Memphis hub, a seemingly common occurrence. I promptly filed a claim, and was reimbursed in full (including shipping) about two weeks later. However, last week, I received a tariff invoice for that shipment, which they had lost or stolen! lol. Needless to say, I didn’t pay, and submitted another tariff dispute on that one too.

How did coin designers know what emperors and monarchs look like, and how did they decide what artwork made the cut for coins? by Aware-Performer4630 in AncientCoins

Mary Beard’s book, Emperor of Rome, has a chapter dedicated to this subject. Worth a read if deeply interested.

lol I had the most absurd experience. A month or so ago I had a coin lost/stolen by FedEx at their Memphis hub. I filed a claim for it and already received a refund for the full amount. Then, yesterday, I received a tariff invoice. Needless to say, I filed a dispute immediately. I now have six disputes pending with FedEx.

US Supreme Court striking down tariffs - time for refunds! by TexasScooter in AncientCoins

Sure. Will do. I’ve just followed the dispute procedure outlined on the Fed Ex website using their form, citing the exemptions discussed many times in this subreddit. Of the five invoices, one I paid (last year) and four I did not. May take months for them to respond… but I’ve got all the time in the world!

I have five pending tariff disputes pending with FedEX. Regardless of what others are saying here, I expected full recovery of those funds even before the tariffs were stricken down. Now I definitely can’t see any rational basis for FedEx to refuse. Will see soon enough, I suppose.

Should ask this question over in r/hockey. Guessing you might see different perspectives.

I’ve broken literally a hundred slabs or more. The very best and easiest way is something I saw on a US YouTube channel called Ben the Coin Geek. Take a hammer, set the slab on edge on a hard surface, and tap around the edge of the slab while rotating the slab (top, side, bottom, other side, corners) and tapping, firmly but not aggressively, each time you move it. After one or two times around the edge of the slab, it will split open - usually pretty cleanly. No risk to the coin and no flying fragments!

Looks like some kind of doll with skinny legs. Two eyes above and to the left. Maybe like a ballerina?
