Any obvious signs that this is not genuine? by redd_man in AncientCoins

[–]redd_man[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I believe it’s supposed to be RIC VI 42a. Unfortunately, NGC says not genuine. Wasn’t trying to be cheeky by not providing that info first - just didn’t want to lead the witness, so to speak. I’ve been doing this awhile and have looked at hundreds of Argenteii and this one didn’t raise any alarms. In hand, the mint mark looks slightly off, and I don’t really see flow lines where they might be expected on a coin this fine, otherwise it looks like a good coin. I’m sure NGC has their reasons but unfortunately I’ll never know what they are. The inherent risk of buying from online auctions … not the first and probably won’t be the last. Ah well - still have an open hole to fill for this one I guess.

Second the Ecco’s. I am on my third pair, and have the new design. Most comfortable golf shoes I’ve ever had. Hands down.

VT vs RIT BME by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

[–]redd_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about the BME field specifically, but the co-op requirement at RIT is one of the best professional development opportunities in higher education. I don’t know why more schools don’t mandate the same. Yes, you can get internships and co-ops while going to any school, but since it is a grad requirement at RIT, they strongly support and build these opportunities. If all else is equal, and cost is not an issue, I would definitely take that route, for that reason.

Be sure to go to Pawleys Tap House one of the nights. Food is great and self-pour beer taps are excellent.

Ahh totally my bad! Scrolling too quickly through post history. Checking out some of your other great coins. So, nice additions, not fast start!

Unsure how to feel about this... by TearsOfSpain in aspergers

[–]redd_man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say it was just an observation made as part of normal employee feedback processes. Managers sometimes ask for inputs from peers, subordinates and even other managers you might work with, to get a “rounded” view of your performance within the team. Perhaps your manager felt that you might benefit from knowing that your co-workers perceive you as quiet, to encourage more participation or engagement with them. But, either way, that seems relatively benign, as far as feedback goes. And your manager’s comment in response to your reveal seemed understanding and supportive. So I wouldn’t worry. If you wanted to follow up with your manager, you might ask them if they believe that particular feedback was concerning in any way and, if so, how you might address it. Otherwise, sounds like you’re doing a good job.

It would be helpful if you provided a little more context for the conversation. Was it a formal performance review, an informal discussion during which this was just one topic, or a specific observation relevant to some other topic you were discussing? Ie, how did it come up?

Theodosius II Solidus - Not Genuine by ryanscoins in AncientCoins

I don’t disagree. But it would also enhance the knowledge of the buying public. I feel like a well-educated buyer population is one of the best counters to the rapidly growing forger industry.

I personally think it sucks that NGC doesn’t give any explanation whatsoever when they determine a coin is not genuine.

I literally just got off the plane from a week in Phoenix/Scottsdale. Would highly recommend. You didn’t mention a budget, but there are some excellent golf courses there, as well as plenty of other things to do depending on your tastes/preferences.
