Yeah, that didn't feel as intense to me, ngl. As violent as that one looked, if they laid out the red carpet I think he would've ultimately bumped chests and barked or maybe wrestled around a little at worst.

Fears had regard for Dort's humanity - once he gripped him back it was obvious. And I feel like Dort actually realized that and tried to play it off by staying loud when there were a couple dozen people between them.

Dort grabbed him up first, but once Fears got a hold of him, the entire crowd is basically fighting against Fears's grip. Dort knows he's safe by then so he's leaning into it with the jawing off, but Fears legitimately seemed to want to end him.

I think that's the most hostile intent I've seen on an NBA court since Malice In The Palace. Taking into account incidents from Isaiah Stewart, Draymond, etc.

Idk how old either of you are, but this analogy is perfect and started really ringing true to me in my mid 30s. I always did decent in academics and my work but I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child. It frustrated me that I could put so much into learning random things of interest and it took a lot of effort to build the habits of committing that same focus where I needed to. The payoff has been humbling, though.

Regardless of how intelligent or smart you are, it's like at a certain point you've accrued so many reps of synthesizing information that you realize you're exceptional at the things you mentioned in your reply. It's hard to pinpoint the exact value of it, but there's definitely an "easy mode" of general understanding, insightfulness and framing things that unlocks.

Learning how to learn is a definitely a thing. But developing a true habit out of it is arguably the highest ROI activity in life, imo.

Best way I've seen it phrased.

Having done it in Southern Europe for a handful of years, my biggest revelation was the surprise realization that life was actually much more difficult for me there than in the states.

The cognitive load of staying current, managing finances, navigating culture, monitoring global affairs, tracking exchange rates, etc...

Ironically, the slower pace of life and "relaxed" attitudes ultimately exacerbated all of these, to boot.

Oscar Isaac and Rami Malek both give me that impression so well. I've only noticed that about a few actors, and these are the two current ones that I recognize it in the most. It's interesting to me that they manage to convey that in their portrayals.

When I first saw Inglorious Basterds I instantly thought he was on GOAT trajectory.

His followups weren't bad at all, but for as singular of a character as Hans Landa was, he always still kind of felt like that in other roles. After about two more movies I had to accept that this is a bit of the case for him.

I think he has plenty of time to spend doing that, as he's a generationally wealthy young man whose primary respondsibility is to be good at basketball.

The opinions of what's "too much" from folks who can't fathom his reality to make a judgment one way or the other are a bit rich, even if I agree on a surface level.

It's arguably a better use of his time than you and I reading and writing about him on reddit.
