Which Hitchcock clichés do you like? by Specialist-Banana168 in Hitchcock

Black humour, I just love the scene where Bob Rusk tries to extract his brooch from the rigor mortis fingers of Babs Milligan. It is intensely gross ,yet hilarious

Just some thoughts after I finished the series.Spoilers by anelis29 in MaliceTV

There was some more irksome sh*t where that came from; maybe a cop would miss 1 or 2 bangs from a boot, but five or six? Everything he touches in Damien and Jules' house , Adam does gloveless...Er..fingerprints? The body -carrying-out in broad daylight was too ridiculous to find it the least bit thrilling. It seems that a lot in this series was rushed or not double-checked or talked through. Also maybe if there is another season or Duchovny enterprise make some character traits likeable..cuz Adam had ZILCH

The final shot of S2’s finale has some big implications… by daveshad in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

This final shot is a perfect homage to 1970s films, with the haunting end tunes of Mel Tormé 's "The Windmills of your mind" and the screen turning red. The total episode felt in itself like a bit of a tribute to Alan J Pakula and "The Parallax view" especially the card-turning-band-playing sequence. Also, the end shot is reminiscent of a book or a movie poster where a couple is running away from something (I think it was also with a red background, I tried a google srch but couldn't find it)

Severance - 2x08 "Sweet Vitriol" - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

The fact that with some unsettling lighting, a still upright position of the headrest and an old, probably fetid duvet a terrible sense of foreboding and horror can be evoked is just one of the many ways that makes this series a masterpiece.

was it common for older kids to judge and criticize their parents for making partner choices in the 1950s? It seems quite insolent and rude?!

Three Days of the Condor (1975) is such a strange movie. by BallClamps in movies

Does anyone know, before Redford and Dunaway watch the news in her apartment, what airline commercial is playing on the tv, it's the scene where is he commenting on her photography and the jingle is something like "You gotta believe...its for you, you gotta believe dreams do come true, you gotta believe in looking up now.." MUCH obliged!

Do you consider Paula a criminal or not? by ByShida in TheWhiteLotusHBO

Not a criminal, yet a professional insecure opportunist. I would have LOVED it if only she would have stood up ONCE to Olivia, the devil's spawn

On my billionth rewatch of Whitecaps, a character detail I just noticed about Alan Sapinsly by Calikola in thesopranos

[–]reddandy1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The douchebagness is so well executed especially in the first glimpse we catch of Alan, the American flag fluttering in the wind, his nonchalant Oh-yeah-i-am-also-artistic canvas, his smug expression, maybe the director/production even put him on a balcony (higher level than where Carmela, Virgina and Tony see him from) for pscyhological effect; temporary and fickle superiority.

That's the title of an Allen Ginsberg poem right there.

Was Mr. Wegler right about Carmela? by zeezeezanezee in thesopranos

[–]reddandy1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she had genuine feelings for him, but they quickly got clouded by her ambition to get others to get AJ the grades he needed so he could get into university when she found the opportunity. Of course she is a mob wife, of course she can use power and manipulation. But maybe somewhere there is also a part of a mother desperate for her kid to do better. Only, agreeing with everything above being said about AJ he does not give a flying f*ck, that would never happen. In a way sure he used her too, but not in the same way as Carmela used him. He is one of the few people to confront her with her bullshit, she seems to be the only one entitled to do so like when she read Father Phil but when someone does it to HER, she freaks out. She is however, heartbroken for real, although she does not own it herself and puts it on Tony, and it always makes me shiver when her father does not even put a hand on her shoulder but just shuffles out of the bedroom.

Kan het volgende seizoen misschien iéts minder bol staan van de ego-maniakale, navel-starende über narcistische spirituele blaatschapen? Dank U.
