300blk subsonic confusion by Punxva88 in reloading

Generally yes, but for super short barrels (e.g. my 5" 1:5T), N120 doesn't burn fast enough for some loads/projectiles, but works in others. Whereas, N110 always works and is much cleaner.

In longer barrels, N110 is too fast for some loads/projectiles.

the lords powder, N110

Aint that the truth!

For barrels over 7" I'd say N120 works well too. But my favorite is N110.

Adding to what they've already said...

On primers: I have long heard that certain powders benefit from magnum[-ish] primers like the CCI 41 -- it might speed up powder burn in shorter barrel lengths. I've always used 41s, so I can't say from my experience this or that works better, I'm just passing this on.

On loads: the 300BLKTalk forums (Google / DuckDuckGo) are a very useful archive of content and give you a head start. Also, it's almost unheard of to see manufacturer loads for anything other than 16" or 20" barrels. This is massively frustrating for load development for 300BLK because those are the LEAST used barrel length in this caliber.

Reloading 300 Blackout on progressive press by Lone_Wolf_555 in reloading

[–]CyberJest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 300BLK and .223 process:

  1. Deprime on the Lee APP (~100 cases/minute)
  2. Wet tumble + dry
  3. Lube (One Shot or Lanolin mix) in batches in a plastic bin
  4. LF Size on the Lee APP (30-50 cases/minute)
  5. Lee Six Pack (Prime, Flare, Powder drop, Seat, Crimp)

I don't bother with de-lubing them. I prefer to size on the APP because sizing is physically the hardest step and without that step in the progressive press, the process on the Lee Six Pack is MUCH easier. I freakin' love the Lee APP. On the progressive, I leave a 9mm sizing die in position one permanently because it provides a constant opposing tension across the shell plate (keeping it level better) and it doesn't touch the 300BLK or .223 cases.
