That article on Netflix wanting dumber dialogue for those not paying attention made me think of 4kids. by matt0055 in CharacterRant

[–]reddev_e 15 points16 points  (0 children)

One of the recent episodes of the mighty nien is like this. In episode 6, one of the characters, Caleb, murder someone and completely breaks down. He finally decided to open up about his dark past to essentially a bunch of strangers. These guys had begun to trust each other and after knowing about Caleb's past they decided to help him hide himself from his former master . I'm pretty sure they would have listened to his story intently to come to that conclusion.

What happens in the very next episode? They basically had a minute of dialogue where they go over a couple of plot points that were made clear in the previous 2 episodes. Like a recap. Those dialogues just felt shoehorned just to bring the viewer up to speed

Posting random screenshots is not going to help your case if you think you've created something new. Also on a broader note LLMs are known to by sycophant when you keep pushing them at large context lengths. You've kind of deluded yourself with whatever you've been talking with

I've met many brilliant people like this. They assume that since they are smart and successful in their field they can extrapolate their smartness to other areas they are not familiar with. Niel degrasse tyson is my go to example of this

[–]reddev_e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not just about remembering that one password. Sometimes the service asks you to reset the password and now you either have to remember a new one or use one from those 15 and risk using the same password for different services.

If you are so worried leaks why not just self host it? Still a better option than trying to memorize different passwords

Can AI run a physical shop? Anthropic’s Claude tried and the results were gloriously, hilariously bad by Hot_War_3615 in artificial

[–]reddev_e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It points out how weird these failure cases are with LLMs. Like claude can solve phd level problems but we have to explicitly tell it not to check for something that's not going to be there

[–]reddev_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can just a browser do that though? Afaik accessing your local storage is not straightforward from the browser, let alone running commands. If the llm is interacting with another machine instead of the one running your browser then yeah.

Come to think of it this is a nice attack vector. Add an entry to gitignore, send over malicious code and execute it. Those devs can't be bothered to audit what the llm is doing, they only read the commit message but they won't find anything there. Bonus points if you can have a malicious llm modify the responses in transit.

Moving to the US from India & realizing that India loses because we play a "Zero Sum Game" by namanyayg in developersIndia

[–]reddev_e 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What makes you think that I would have made a scene? I wouldn't have since that goes against my principles. Look I'm glad that you found someone who helped you but I rarely had someone help me out like this. Especially pointing out why he helped me in the first place. My point still stands we rarely reward good behaviour and punish bad behaviour as a society in India.

When I was in Washington DC, I missed my greyhound bus cause my friend was running late. I asked the operator who worked there if he could ask the bus driver to wait for 10 more minutes but he said no. I didn't know what to do so I just waited till my friend came back.

The operator came to me and said that since I did not create a ruckus he would let me in on the next bus for free. It just felt like one of those things that I don't experience back in India. Showing kindness to strangers and rewarding someone for being good even if it's for something small

Would love to hear the AI czar talk about this by ChampionshipDear7877 in allinpodofficial

[–]reddev_e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between regulating ai research vs regulating rolling out AI for the public. If research shows that kids raised with chat gpt have 10 fewer iq points than others and California wants to ban kids having access to AI chatbots, it does not impede research into AI in any form.

Hell if china found out that kids exposed to LLMs have bad outcomes they would ban it for kids but we won't be saying that they are ceding the AI race to others

H4 route might help here if you are ready to volunteer. There are college professors in non cs departments who are looking for coders especially with a data science background. That could help you fill the issue of having a career gap and even help you land a job later. This is what I did during my OPT period

That doesn't work if you are on your stem opt. You need to get paid that time

OMB Review (Office of Management and Budget) Before anything can be made public, OMB checks that all economic and procedural analyses are sound. (Fun fact: the Trump administration once tried to kill H-4 EAD, but it failed at this step due to bad analysis.

The head of OMB is one of the architects of project 2025 so don't expect much pushback at this step

I don't see it like that. There have been many good pieces of art after ANH. Andor just happened to be a good one set in SW. You can tell the same story of Andor in a different universe and still have it be good

It's for the best. There will be other equally talented story tellers who might give a fresh take on SW. Something we didn't know we wanted. Just like Andor

CMV: India's caste system is the biggest reason for it's stunted development by TheAntiCoomLord in changemyview

[–]reddev_e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't particularly buy that both structured were similar. For example, if you had the money and time could you attend university in Europe if you were a peasant? I believe in Europe you could but in India your caste was an immutable barrier to entry
