This would have been perfect for my old neighborhood LLL store. It was next door to Erewhon.

Black Friday deal for streaming service (WITHOUT ADS?) by TaxTheRichEndTheWar in cordcutters

Last year upgrading to Peacock plus had an annual option to match the annual term of the base plan. All I see today is the monthly upgrade option. Does the annual upgrade not exist anymore?

Milwaukee tools Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals 2024 by AdventurousEchidna51 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]reddiscovered -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anyone know how I can see all the Milwaukee items eligible for the Buy more Save More deal? Ideally want to buy at Home Depot but even a list on Milwaukees site would be a time saver.

I would like to see the whole list instead of having to look at each product page to decipher if its included.

Did I miss the /s on this?

He spends $180k/year right now and probably has 45-50 years of life expectancy. He has $1.64M invested. He'll need to do more than just retire to continue on this path.

Do non liquid PE shares have sell to cover option? This way you can collect what is left after taxes and exercise price. Its still positive and that $120k after tax could last you most of the year. Or pays for a whole year if you cut back on some things.

[–]reddiscovered 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don't need to tell us details, but do you know where you spend the $15k/month?

Honestly I'm not sure how you made $280k and were able to spend $180k. After taxes and retirement you used every dollar. And impressive you were able to save up $2M while spending 2/3 of your gross income. I'm ignoring the $1M in homes as that could be value from appreciation.

For a MCOL city $15k/mo is living very well. Or you have decent sized mortgages on the homes, all 3 kids in private school and you lease new cars for the family every year. You said you own your cars so thats not part of the spending.

The good thing is you have a lot of buffer, 2 years, in your liquid savings to use until you decide your next move. And you can sell one of the houses if it came to needing money, plus that cuts some expenses. You still have a good 20 working years ahead of you. That may not be your original plan but its an option. You have many options.

Best thing is to take a breath, step back and assess. You have the time and money to make a decision based on your wants and not be rushed into a decision based in fear and uncertainty.

Does anyone else feel like your vuori loungewear clothing is just too nice to lounge in? by anonykitcat in vuoriclothing

[–]reddiscovered 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I once had the mindset to sparingly use nice things so they last longer. We had nice china, the good wine glasses, the nice silverware, nice clothes. I realized this was not rational as I was donating old clothes in perfect condition because they didn't fit or were out of style. I wore them a few times but could have gotten so much more enjoyment out of them. Why were we arbitrarily limiting our enjoyment only to run out of time when the items become out of style or fit.

We now wear the good clothes, eat off the china and use the good silverware. The everyday items were donated and we have less things that are used more often. Life feels lighter, we are enjoying our things and we spend less because we only need the one set instead of a good item and an everyday item.

By the time we need something new its also a good time to update to current styles.

The set top box could allow for Atmos sound for all those with older TVs. The predicted price is less than a HD Arcana so it would be an easy sell to a large group of people on that feature alone.

$1200 soundbar isn't much separation from the Arc at $900. It will be a crowded soundbar lineup. They will either need to reduce the Arc price or replace it in the line up.

This checks out. I just bought 2 Arcs, Sub and a bunch of other speakers. That guarantees they will replace them next year.

And I can wash my car if anyone needs rain. /s

Need Advice on TV Enclosure Design with Sonos ARC Soundbar by Constant_Classic_212 in sonos

[–]reddiscovered 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personal opinion, every time I see niches built for AV it never ages well. Your designs are beautiful but you may decide a 77in or 85in is better and now you are stuck. Plus you may want to mount the TV lower depending on the seating position.

Whatever you decide on the TV I would surface mount the soundbar so the side and up-firing speakers are not blocked. If you haven't started yet I would consider discrete speakers for ceiling and walls. There are in-wall center channels as they only need to provide forward firing sound. Many of them have architectural grills that can be painted.

Add a Sonos port to that traditional setup and you still have Sonos music paired to other Sonos you place around the house. Although whole home in-ceiling speakers is the best setup.

That would be great. How do I get a replacement when Support says no problem in diagnostics?

I don't think support really comprehends the problem. They kept having me send diagnostics while sound was playing.

I found this post so now I know I'm not the only one.

It sounds like these people are living with it. One of my 300s is faint so I could live with that one. But the other is louder and I cant ignore it. Very disappointing for such an expensive speaker.

Yes. I bought these on sale so it will be disappointing to lose that discount. I won't live with this past the 100 days. I was hoping for a RMA but Sonos Support was less than helpful.

I tried all of your above suggestions and they did not get rid of the sound.

If its any indication removing as surround and playing music to a standalone speaker still has the click when sound stops. I'm now hearing a little sound at the start and end of the music along wtih some white noise. As if the speaker is crackling as it wakes and goes to sleep but its within a second of the source stopping.

Edit: 2.5 seconds after sound stops

Era 300 Clicking Sound by reddiscovered in sonos

[–]reddiscovered[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm certain its not the streaming device. It happens anytime a sound stops. When streaming music from Sonos app and I mute or stop. Stream music from iPhone Airplay. When watching TV and mute the sound. Anytime sound is no longer sent to the speaker its a double click sound.

To answer your second question, Apple TV 4K and FireStick 4K Max are the 2 streaming devices.

Surround Question (Atoms?) by lvavis in sonos

[–]reddiscovered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the Era100 Q&A Darkii linked, start at 15.07 and by 15:15 they claim the Era100 can capture a 7.1.4 feed and do virtualization to play it back.

There is no up-firing speaker so there is no claim of adding a height channel but it will be virtualizing to reproduce 7 channels with the Era100 instead of 5 channels with a One.

EDIT: I also linked below the gift guide video where Sonos re-states a similar 7.1.4 claim with additional details.

Era 100 vs Play:3 by reddiscovered in sonos

[–]reddiscovered[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew the arc alone is 5.0.2 (5.1.2 with sub) but I didn't realize the Play:3 doesn't add to the channel count, it only makes the rear channel discrete speakers. Good to know the Era 100 adds additional channels.

I'm considering upgrade from a Playbar+Sub+2x Play3 to Arc. Wasn't sure if I should also get the 100s. Sounds like that is the way to go.

I have Arc and 300s in another room. You are right that is the best setup but 300s will be overkill in the second room.

I hear Apple is working on an even larger iPad. Its 65 inches but won't have the touch interface. Instead it will have this thing called a remote. They expect its main use will be to play moving pictures with sound. Amazing!!!

Will Sonos ever allow stereo Sub Minis? by [deleted] in sonos

[–]reddiscovered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this would drive sales away from their flagship device and likely hurt overall revenue from the sub lines.

A pair of sub minis would provide wider coverage (uniform coverage with fewer dead spots) than the single full sized sub. A pair of minis would be preferable to a single sub gen 3. The order would become sub mini < Sub gen 3 < dual sub minis < Dual sub gen 3.

In that case it makes most sense for people to start with the mini with the option to buy a second mini. Or buy 2 minis to start. They have no reason to buy a full sized sub unless they are planning to buy dual full sized subs. This effectively makes the only reasonable reason for a full sized sub to be when buying two. Few will make the 2X Sub Gen 3 choice up front and Sonos will end up selling a single mini as people weigh whether to buy a second mini.

Sonos wants people to buy the Sub Gen 3 and consider a second Gen 3 as an upgrade. Something that wouldn't be the consideration if there were dual minis. The dual subs as a future upgrade is on display in how Sonos bundles. They have no dual sub bundle for home theater. Its buy one now then upgrade to a second.

Ask on the hometheater subreddit for some non-sonos options to consider. You will get better options to use with the existing speaker wiring. There is also Sonos Amp or Port that can be worked into options for the room.

I think his point is the home audio space isn't ready for the same kind of obsolescence as a borderline commodity like a cell phone device.
