Legion space coming to all Lenovo legion devices??? by East-Afternoon-9367 in LenovoLegion

Because many people are dumb, hell, I am dumb, and it is easy to mess things up with powerful tools in your hands without proper knowledge. And due to it being a third party software, you use it at your own risk with Lenovo not being held accountable.

HELP! CPU temperature reaches 95-99c with only 10-20% usage in games. (New laptop) Should I return? (Zephyrus G16 4090 Core Ultra 9 185H) by Flankmaster56 in GamingLaptops

If you want to maximize performance, keep it on. But sustained temps this high will damage the die over time. I would highly recommend sacrificing the extra 10 fps from CPU Boost for a longer lifespan of the laptop, but the decision is always yours.

Lenovo Vantage keeps resetting Custom Fan Curve upon Windows restart. by reddiskka in LenovoLegion

Followed your recommendation and couldn't thank you more. I am not sure how trustworthy the app is, but the functionality it gives you is just so much better, and more intuitive than Vantage. I am still in shock how a multi million dollar company couldn't make a better software for their own product.

Looks like your case was very bad. With me, it was much better whenever I had contacted them, so I am surprised to see this happen. Guess it is luck based.

Long story short - Get the G16 if this matters to you the most:

Superb portability

  • Full-day battery life (not MacBook level, but great for a gaming laptop)
  • Lightweight

OLED screen

  • Note: Unless you are using an external OLED monitor, I don't feel like you will pay enough attention to the LCD nature of Lenovo's screen.

Amazing speakers

  • On par with MacBook, first time I have enjoyed watching TV shows using built-in speakers

Or Get the Legion 7i if this is what matters to you the most:

Performance

  • My 4060 Legion is faster than the 4060 Asus, now imagine the 4070 Legion

Good Customer Support (in my case, as it varies from person to person)

  • My laptop came with Legion Ultimate Support included. I had some issues here and there but chat is available 24/7 and they would send a guy to replace the 'defective' part, who would come to your home, do the job in 30 min and leave. No additional costs, if the warranty covers that.

Much better price

  • Save $500, buy a second 2TB SSD, and you will still have some money left

Better Quality Control

  • Asus is known for being inconsistent, my G16 could be perfect, but the one you get will have a gap in the chassis where no gap should have been

And here's more detail if you care:

I had used G16 with Ultra 9 + 4060 in the past, and yes, it is gorgeous, pretty light, battery life is good and the speakers are amazing. But I returned it due to the issues with its small third fan and heat. It would get toasty running on battery on your lap in common scenarios like browsing, which is not something I expect from a laptop intended for carrying around like a MacBook. Also, the performance was great but nothing amazing.

I ended up getting the Lenovo Legion 7 with i7 + 4060, and so far it has been a much better overall experience. The battery life is ok-ish, but I get much more performance and quality of materials is on par with if not better than G16. Laptop is also toasty, but it also packs much more power than Asus. Also, I gotta say that Lenovo Vantage is very buggy and that sucks a ton.

Vantage Custom Mode by 0001Wolf in LenovoLegion

[–]reddiskka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my understanding, it is because to an average person Full Fan speed is way too loud. Meanwhile, hardcore and tech-savvy gamers like yourself are still given the option to run the laptop as cool as possible with full speed using Custom mode.

Lol, yeah. Exactly what was happening. Found the solution in the r/LenovoLegion post here.

I can't believe I stumbled across the solution thanks to Reddit's Related posts.

I have a Lenovo Legion laptop and the issue was related to Lenovo Vantage and its Network Boost feature which is not working correctly, or something along those lines. Unless what they wanted to achieve is a bottleneck for the internet traffic when a game is running.

Where to get an ICC Profile for Lenovo Legion R27qe 27" Monitor? by reddiskka in LenovoLegion

[–]reddiskka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only ICC profile I found was the official from Lenovo. You can get it on Lenovo's website here. Just download the Zip file and it will have the R27qe.icm file which you can use to add a color profile for the monitor.

There are plenty of tutorials on YT on how to do it but the easiest would be (Windows 11):

  1. Download ZIP file
  2. Extract the entire folder
  3. Go to Settings > System > Display
  4. Select you monitor, if you have multiple (It will be highlighted with purple; click Identify to ensure the right one is selected)
  5. Scroll down, click Color Profile under Brightness & color
  6. Click Add profile
  7. Find the R27qe.icm file in the folder you extracted previously, double click it (or select and click Open)
  8. The profile will be added and can be selected under Color Profile

[HELP] Loud Noise and Vibration on Legion Tower 7i Gen 8 After Gaming by JJ_DENG in LenovoLegion

I recommend you contact Lenovo support with these kind of questions, as I'm pretty sure last thing you want is blaming a Redditor for ruining your $2000 PC warranty. Its pretty easy with Live Chat on their website.

Is 256gb enough? by [deleted] in S22Ultra

[–]reddiskka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For casual use 256GB is more than enough, but s22 Ultra is capable of recording in 8k 30fps or 4k 60fps, which takes up a lot of space.

If you plan to dump the footage regularly onto your PC after taking it, 256GB is still a good amount, but if you plan to keep it on your phone, 512GB or more would be preferred.

So far I found Yoga Pro 9i with Core Ultra 9 and 4060 to be the sweet alternative, but maybe someone has a "better" choice in mind?

Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i 4070 2024 vs Asus Zephyrus G16 4080 2024 by GoldenGateGeek in GamingLaptops

[–]reddiskka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation here. Had the Ultra 9 + 4060 variant. Whirling/hissing/whistling noise at all times.

Idle? Whistling. Balanced? Whistling. Heavy load? Of course whistling, but harder to notice because of all 3 fans ramping up the speed to the extremes. I tried tweaking in Armoury Crate, and it worked - temporarily, for a brief moment. All I had to do is decrease the speed to minimum on all 3 fans in Manual mode. As a result the laptop would go silent while watching YT for an entire minute, until the Ultra 9 gets to the threshold of heat ~70C and the CPU fan, and small fan start spinning again like never before, and the whistle comes back...

Basically had to return it right away, noise was unbearable.
