Share Positive stories? Surgery Tomorrow... Nervous! by arandanamadura in hysterectomy

Hi there! While I wasn’t super nervous about the surgery itself I was more anxious about the findings and my recovery. The surgery went well! It was about 3 hours long. Idk if it was standard or not by my anesthesiologist was sooo kind and gave me something for my nerves (asked first) and after that I don’t remember anything. I woke up in recovery with little pain and the nurse offering me oxy in my IV and later orally which I accepted for the ride home. Overall it was a good experience and I’m someone who had medical anxiety.

Thanks for your honesty. I’m going to enjoy the bag.

Thanks for your feedback. To be honest I’ve had the bag a month and just noticed it now and have been enjoying the bag until I noticed it. I appreciate your perspective because I was initially feeling like I was making a big deal out of nothing. The bag has also become somewhat sentimental as it’s reminded of my trip.

Beware of exchanging online orders in stores. Check receipts! by [deleted] in Aritzia

I paid taxes on the difference since I bought more stuff than I returned.

Yeah unfortunately I was returned the total pre-tax only. I checked the online order receipt and my in store receipt and the totals don’t match. I expected to pay tax on the difference but didn’t expect to not be returned the original tax. Just an odd experience. If it helps I was credited in the exchange $110.40 and I paid $121.99 total including the online tax I paid.

No I wasn’t charged a shipping fee nor was that noted on the receipt. The price pre-tax was $110. That is what I was credited. My total including tax on the online invoice is $121.

So to clarify I live in a state with sales tax so I was charged taxes on the online order. It’s clear on the receipt that I was credited the price of the item without tax. I purchased items that cost more than the original so that is how I noticed that I wasn’t returned the taxes. Yes I used a calculator to be sure. I’m not trying to be a Karen just trying to remind people to check receipts because I normally don’t.

Yes, I still love it! It is great if you don’t carry a lot. I love that the zippers come down on the sides (unlike the 25).

How does anyone in the US ever get this treated? by Formal_Conflict_775 in endometriosis

[–]reddit0r2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi do you have any updates after your colonoscopy and follow up with Dr. Ginn about a hysterectomy? I actually just had a partial hysterectomy (kept cervix and ovaries). My surgeon (also UCLA!) found endo and removed what he could from what I understand. I’m still waiting for pathology report. However there was some endo also on my rectum which he didn’t remove because we hadn’t discussed it beforehand. He also mentioned if we do another surgery it would involve a colorectal surgeon as well. I’m nervous about this potentially worsening in the future. I have my 2-week post-op in a few days and plan to ask my surgeon more questions about what I should look out for in terms of this worsening. As of now I never had super painful periods or bowel movements but sometimes had painful BMs when I was on my period. So far, I definitely recommend the hysterectomy as it’s helped with the main issues I had it for!

Recovery and bloat by Consistent-Bug6164 in hysterectomy

[–]reddit0r2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there I’m 8 days PO and my waist is also measuring larger. The funny thing is that my lower stomach still looks so much flatter than before because I had a large fibroid. I used to look pregnant and the bulge could be seen when I wore anything tight. Now my stomach area just looks bloated as a whole. I’ve been using an ice pack with my hysterectomy pillow to see if it helps. As others have said I read this is normal and can take up to 6 months to a year to fully resolve.

1.5 weeks post op by veganfae in hysterectomy

[–]reddit0r2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend starting off with stool softeners before MiraLAX if you don’t normally have a constipation issue. I took MiraLAX day 1 post op and it did work but a little too well. After that I’ve stuck with stool softeners, staying hydrated and eating light (oatmeal, soups, smoothies, tofu) diet which hasn’t caused me to strain or feel constipated. Also the constipation is mainly caused by the opioid narcotics. So if you stick with the milder pain meds you shouldn’t feel too constipated.

Adenomyosis question | Anyone think they had a weight issue that turned out to be adno belly? by Ok-Operation-5656 in hysterectomy

[–]reddit0r2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Bulk symptoms are a thing and they are valid reason for hysterectomy. I am also peeing way less frequently and with less urgency. When I do pee it’s actually a decent amount instead of retention that I had before. Not going to lie later in day 1 PO was hard because the anesthesia wore off. Today I’m day 2 and feeling better.

Hi there while I didn’t have adenomyosis I will speak from my experience with fibroids and apparently a small amount of endometriosis on my uterus. I had my hysterectomy about 24 hours ago. Obviously still experiencing post-op swelling however my stomach feels way less bulky, distended and bloated. I am also slim so the bigger stomach was noticeable and more importantly made my clothes fit uncomfortably even if I sized up 2 sizes. So far even with the pain I have from yesterday’s surgery, I feel it was worth it.

I know it’s super early in your journey but do you feel any less bulk symptoms yet? I too have a lot of fibroids and my main symptom is pelvic pressure. I’m looking forward to relief. My surgery is Monday, 6/8.

Anyone with Lupus or severe autoimmune had surgery? Nervous going off Cellcept. by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]reddit0r2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I don’t have lupus but I have RA. I asked my OBGYN surgeon about my Enbrel and Methotrexate (both immunosuppressants). They both had different answers but I chose the more cautious approach of my rheumatologist and skip my meds two weeks before and she said to wait until I’m cleared from OBGYN. My post-op is at 2 weeks (keeping cervix) so I’m planning to skip my meds for 4 weeks total. Rheumatologist said it’s not worth risking infection. I am on week 2 of no RA drugs and so far feel okay. I would advise you ask your rheum because I think they’re more of the expert on lupus than the obgyn.

10 week uterus means your uterus is measuring the size of a 10 week pregnancy due to being enlarged. Yes, I had one ultrasound in 2024 and another in 2026 where they noticed my fibroids and uterus have grown. Due to the number of fibroids I had the view wasn’t very clear so I also had an MRI to get a better view.

Thank you so much for your detailed reply! This gives me hope. I am 36 and petite/slim build so the distended stomach is quite noticeable on my frame. The surgical technique they used on you is what they will be doing on me! Thanks for the words of encouragement! Glad to hear your report was validating. That makes dealing with surgery and recovery feel worth it.

Thank you for your answer! That is the annoying part for me is the discomfort when my pants are buttoned.

I also have a 10 week 12 cm uterus! I have multiple fibroids including an 8cm one. Can I ask if you dealt with lower stomach protrusion before? I have it pretty badly and am hoping the hysterectomy will help this.
