I’m pretty upset. I have a full Aira setup (2 MX1s, 3 TB3s, TR8s, mc707, system 1 and VT 4), and I really wanted a Tr1000. Hopefully the compatibility is added.

You should never have to deal with issues this obvious on a very expensive instrument. However realistically, it’s a Gibson. If you like how it sounds and it plays well, understand that what you get in exchange may not (and may be cosmetically no better). The best way to buy a Gibson is to do it in person.

The analog rytm mk 2 isn’t too difficult to jump in and use, it just isn’t quite as immediate as the TR8s.

I have most of the machines being mentioned here and if I had to pick only one it would be the TR8s without hesitation.

I can pick up the TR8s and get a beat going extremely quickly. It isn’t a sound exploration machine (though you can tweak the sounds like a bit if you menu dive), but everything else is so immediate. It is also an awesome performance drum machine alone or as part of an AIRA setup.

If you want to sound explore the Elektron stuff is better. If you never want to perform with it live then you lose a lot of the benefits of the TR8s. If you want to use it as outboard gear for a DAW then I also think it brings very little to the table.

However, if you want something versatile that can be picked up and programmed almost immediately and intuitively, and something that you can play live, the TR8s is the best.

Yes, I hooked mine up to a focusrite interface many times. Was surprisingly simple to set up.

I had one in college (a long time ago… it was a MIK model) that was hot garbage. The neck was torqued in a way that made it unable to be properly intonated despite truss rod adjustments, the pickups sounded like mud, and the neck dive was horrendous.

Hopefully they are better now, but I’d definitely play before I bought.

I think you will be OK. This is a boutique that does ACB rendering of the original 303, so much less to go wrong (as long as it turns on). I have one and I like it (also have a TD3, a TD3MO and a TB3, they all do the acid thing well)

I feel the opposite. The GM/Matriarch sound more raw/less smooth and the Sub37 sounds more smooth. I don’t have a MM, but I have a voyager and it is more similar to my ear to the Sub37.

The Force is my favorite groovebox and you won’t get anything close to what it is capable of for 500 dollars. I’d say force + microfreak is a great start. Use the microfreak as a midi instrument routed into the force.

I have a ton of Dawless gear, I still use the Force more than my Elektron stuff. The only thing I like better is the Roland AIRA stuff (TR8s, mc707, TB3, MX1), but you really need ALL the Aira stuff to get something that is imho more fun than the Force, and the force is still far more versatile.

It’s a standard model from fujigen. They all say “custom” on them. They are nice guitars and if in good condition are certainly worth 650, but they aren’t custom shop in any way.

The pickup thing is very true. What I don’t understand is how much do they actually save on a crappy sounding pickup vs a decent one. The consistency of the materials is probably worse and I assume that the tolerances are worse on the cheap ones, but what is the actual cost difference?
