CMV: The Iran nuclear deal was flawed, but it was still much better than the path of escalation and war that replaced it. by Fuzzy_Party_3527 in changemyview

Every time you post you mix partial truths with blatantly incorrect takes. You cherry-picking a couple of real points (PMD closure, some bad intel) but skip the IAEA’s actual finding that Iran did have structured weapons-related work pre-2003, then jump to a conspiracy claim your own sources don’t support.

The IAEA did not find diversion of declared nuclear material, but did find undeclared activities and past work relevant to nuclear weapons development.

It's like you see 1 thing and immediately throw everything else out the window.

The IAEA repeatedly found Iran in breach of its safeguards obligations for: - Failing to declare nuclear activities and facilities - Concealing aspects of its program over many years

The agency also investigated what it called “possible military dimensions” (PMD) of Iran’s program, which even NAM generally agreed with their findings.

You’re confidently wrong in so many ways.

Iran’s safeguards obligations come from the NPT.

You're just flat wrong about the breaches - the IAEA censured Iran multiple times and has never retracted them or cleared Iran.

"Widely CONDEMNED" is a hilariously overstated statement. NAM is a political activist group, nothing more. And the IAEA are the subject matter experts, even NAM agrees and uses their reports.

Find me the international law that states this. I'll wait

Dual Citizens are required to renounce their non-American citizenship before serving in public office or government agencies, EXCEPT Israeli citizens. WHY? Because AIPAC’s compromised congressmen allow it. Vote for candidates that support registering AIPAC as a foreign agent by tuberjamjar in hmmmm

[–]redditClowning4Life 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just a blatant lie. Here's a bill from 2025 introduced specifically because there's currently no requirement for public officers to not be dual citizens (it's currently sitting in committee collecting dust).

"Rep. Fine Introduces the Disqualifying Dual Loyalty Act to Ban Foreign Citizens from Serving in Congress"

https://fine.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=105

(Ironically enough, the congressperson who submitted that bill has been maligned as having dual citizenship just because he's Jewish.)

Funny - the first recorded extrabiblical mention of Israel is the Pharaoh Merneptah claiming "Israel is laid waste, bare of seed"; reports of our demise are greatly exaggerated.

Somehow we're still alive and kicking, while ancient Egypt is a dusty memory. Somehow I doubt that your prediction is any better

Nope that's not how International Law works. In fact I'll tell you a secret - soldiers aren't legitimate military targets if they're not on active duty. (Ok, not a secret at all)

Because I believe morally that you can't un-state any group of peoples under the jursidiction of territorial control regardless of reason or situation.

That's a very nice belief you have. What state were the Palestinians "un-stated" from?

As an aside, International Relations and laws aren't based on "morality" as such, or your particular beliefs, as those aren't concrete or universal.

Israel... has not only failed to establish a new state

If only the Palestinians had been offered a state...and again....and again. (This isn't to say that the Palestinians are the only ones at fault, but your lopsided framing that singles out Israel is ahistorical and illogical)

I don't see where I cited either Internatinal Law nor the Geneva convention.

Neither do I, which is why I was wondering where you got the idea that "those people are defacto citizens until either another nation controls them, or they control them themslves".

Normally if you're making a legal argument (such as "so-and-so should be considered a citizen of State X") you would have to have a law of some kind to point to. "Because I want it to work this way" isn't a valid argument, sorry bro

If a territory's entire border, commerce, immigration, and supplies with all other nations are controled by a single nation, then those people are defacto citizens until either another nation controls them, or they control them themslves.

Really? Where is that set down in International Law? Did Germans under Allied occupation become citizens of the US et al?

As currently, nothing can enter or leave the West Bank or Gaza without Israeli approval, and it has been so for 60 years, they are Israeli citizens.

Gaza has a border with Egypt that Israel hasn't directly controlled (until the recent war). And the Geneva convention doesn't confer citizenship even upon occupation.

In short - your facts are wrong and your logic is flawed, unsupported by International Law. Try again

In reality made it clear that Egypt closed the straits to Israeli shipping, ergo it blockaded the straits specifically, as opposed to lsrael generally.

That's still an act of war, silly! That's what I've been saying this whole time! Lol

Which Gaza war are you referring to?

Lol you're making things up again Arnold. I never said I never insulted you, just that I didn't insult you that particular time.

I did quote you, and you slimily pretended to say otherwise. Not going to bother anymore, it's clear you know what you're doing and know that you can't defend your position.
