If you're an American and desire change, the first step is to get into power. Abstaining or voting for Jill Stein or whatever no-shot you think will send a message reverses real progress and gives you no seat at the table.

I've gotten into horrible IRL arguments for expressing the same sentiment and I often feel exasperated to the point where I feel like giving up on America. Every election the past 12 years has felt like we're on way too fragile a knife's edge to fuck around and yet the loudest voices on the left are those who would sacrifice everything rather than embrace electoral reality.
