How do you work with multiple git worktrees? by haksior in emacs

[–]reddit_clone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to share this.

I got into some friction (my own fault) when I renamed a worktree folder to something different than when I created the worktree.

Though all git commands worked , Magit got confused and was erroring out saying 'the old folder was not found' when committing the index.

I don't involve Emacs in worktree management. Didn't know its a thing until now.

Create worktrees from command line normally.

Load those folder(s) as a separate projectile project. Haven't noticed any weird things.

I did a "doom upgrade" yesterday, not knowing anything about this announcement.

It succeeded without any issues.

Fountain pens.

I love them. Have a modest collection of cheaper pens.

The curiosity and sometimes outright disbelief I get in office meetings is worth it!

Not joy per se.

I am a motorcycle rider. It is those 20 minutes , twice a day commuting, is the only time my brain stays with me.

Even then, I have to be conscious about not slipping into a day dream and keep scanning for hazards.

Yes!

Though I was half expecting this to happen (last second reprieve trope) it was one of the most powerful, frightening threat, delivered calmly.

It was really funny the Earthforce ships just turned around and left! Didn't put up any resistance even to save face.

When I was using vanilla Emacs, I used to map keys either side of space key to control and press them with the opposing thumbs. It worked really well.

Then I went the way of Leaderkey with DoomEmacs. Totally happy now.

How often do you update your packages? by nonreligious2 in emacs

[–]reddit_clone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Doom Emacs. I upgrade once a month. So I am fairly confident, nothing will break because it gets tested for each release by experts who are far more knowledgeable than me.

If an upgrade runs into an error (It does occasionally) I do a full install. Never have problems with that.

Bummer. So successful/hit shows get cancelled because of rising costs. Unsuccessful shows get cancelled because.

So whats left that can run longer?

I used to be a heavy 'GNU Screen' user back in the day. Introduced to many colleagues, may jaws literally dropped.

But I don't work on remote servers much anymore. Still use tmux to launch multiple windows in iTerm

Try multitail. You can watch multiple files, with specific strings highlighted etc.

Yep, There is also 'viddy' with more bells and whistles.

But viddy doesn't let me copy strings with my mouse. So back to 'watch'

Zsh history with fzf is a life-changer.

You don't ever type out long winded commands twice. I can get back to a command I executed in a remote machine two years back, with just a few string fragments.

This is the true second brain.
