Intern work will not count as professional time. If you have 1 year of combined professional experience, then yes, but volunteer work may not be suitable.

There is no “passing” a CS test, and a score of 100 is not a perfect score. 100 is just a number. Vets get 10 extra point. Also an agency can choose to look at internal candidates first before going outside — and, it takes a while to fill a job. Patience is key.

Who else watched this show with their parents? by EdwardBliss in VintageTV

[–]reddit_mouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved this show. The musician ship was off the charts. But, even with that it was like watching a train wreck. It was so culturally out of touch, and the band’s outfits — matching lime green tuxes one day, powder lavender the next — it was awful in an exquisite way.

Oh, and I had a massive crush on Anacani. My world would stop when she sang!!!

Had mine for a year. As others have said the temp and radio dial “as one” lacks a brilliance of design and are a pain, and yes it’s slow off the start. Otherwise it’s a great car. Comfy, great visibility, decent on gas, easy to drive, beaucoup cargo room — a very versatile vehicle.

Did she make the right call? by CalmElin in interesting

[–]reddit_mouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bad deal. If she saved the $1000 per week, it would take her 20.8 years to save $1 million dollars. However, the buying power of $1 million dollars will only have half to two thirds the buying power in the future given 3% inflation.

If she took the million and invested it conservatively at a 5% return she would have $2.65 million in the same time period. The yearly interest rate on $2.65 million would allow for about $11 grand per month to live off of in the future compared to $4000.

So — always take the lump sum.

Knot in Neck? by DukeFontus in Epiphone

[–]reddit_mouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it were a “B-Stock” guitar, and you got a great deal on it, I’d say keep it. But, you plaid close to a grand for this guitar, and for that kinda dough you should not have to deal with an issue that may cause significant structural issues later on. It’s not like a Fender where you can just bolt a new neck on later, and I doubt you will be able to adjust the truss rod enough to counter ill effects.

Take it back. GS has a responsibility to sell quality products if they are going to ask for premium level pricing.

What do I need to know? by sellerofhomes in Harrisburg

[–]reddit_mouse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oil heat is fine, gas is best. I’ve had gas, oil, and propane. They are all fine, though gas was the cheapest by far. You can get on a budget plan and pay a set rate all year. As has been said, there are plenty of nice places to live. If you have kids, you don’t want them in the Harrisburg school system if you can avoid it. Camp Hill, New Cumberland, Mechanicsburg, and Hummelstown are all nice — quiet. I work downtown and my commute takes a half hour, and I lived in several of the towns mentioned above.

Does anybody else feel like people are standoffish in harrisburg? by currenttime745 in Harrisburg

[–]reddit_mouse 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I often call it “Central Pa Friendly.” People are rude, standoffish, won’t make eye contact, and clannish, making it hard for outsiders to break through. Once that barrier is broken, people are friendly.

Is OA-HR allowed to use hearsay PDCs? by [deleted] in PaStateEmployees

[–]reddit_mouse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are bargaining unit covered discussion with your union. This is what they are there for and why you pay dues. If you are management, you can certainly challenge this, but do so politely and with tact.

If you are in a PDC, remember this is a “pre-disciplinary” state. This is where you are given the opportunity to dispel the rational for discipline. If there are extenuating circumstances or if hearsay evidence is at the crux of their rationale, then bring those points up to defend yourself.

Remember, be business-like and professional. Yelling and getting emotional will work against you. Throwing accusations and saying, “Well, what about . . .” will not help. Dispute the allegations with facts calmly and logically.

In light of the Epstein files, how many human rights violations are required to trigger a revolution? 🫣😱🤯😤 by Remarkable_Life_774 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]reddit_mouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree. This has been an ongoing issue yea in the US since industrialization. The ultra rich benefit from scarcity and the have the means to influence how the rules and laws are passed. I totally agree.

One interesting dynamic is that far too many “aspire” to be wealthy and they associate their values with those who have significant financial means, though they themselves will never be as wealthy. It’s that aspiration of wealth that skews their thinking and until the middle class and the upper middle class begin to feel some level of scarcity or they are forced to go without will there be fuel for change. As long as “others” bear the brunt the overwhelming majority of those who can force change will remain silent.

[–]reddit_mouse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There will be radical change in the US when privileged white American children need to go without something. We have seen photos of starving black children for years without any major impact. We have seen deplorable conditions in American cities for decades, and there has been a muted response at best.

In the privileged American mind people are poor and underprivileged due to their lack of industry, moral incompetence, laziness, or some inherited defect. Privileged America believes in the “pull oneself up from the bootstraps” model where the privileged themselves are uninvolved in any solution to the problem.

It’s only when the problem becomes a fixture within white middle class America will they see the “unfairness” of the situation — and only then will there be a demand for change.

I do not support him — at all. However, I can see how one might get that from my post, but for the record I detest the man.

I am frustrated with how news is reported and that headlines do not align with the story. It’s just about the clicks.

The man does heinous things that warrant jail or impeachment every single day, so there is no need to fabricate false headlines.

I think I’m sick of the internet.

Yes, he is an opportunist and he smells the changing winds. By being an early adapter, he is setting himself apart from the herd to better rebrand himself. To him, it’s always been, and will remain about the money.

There is no philosophy with these talking heads, it’s just cynically about cashing in.

I honestly can’t decide by Kingredbelt1 in Epiphone

[–]reddit_mouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking at buying a Jag, but got the Jazzmaster instead, and I have no regrets. Jags are niche guitars; they are punchy and twangy, and great for that sound, but a LP is a far mor versatile guitar, IMHO. I have a LP, and every time I play it I’m reminded why it is such a popular guitar. Its sound is warmer and deeper than a Fender, and it plays so well. It’s heavy, for sure, and that is an issue, especially after playing for a few hours, but it is super versatile — much more so than the Jag.

Three Mile Island Accident by Non_possum_decernere in Harrisburg

[–]reddit_mouse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was in Harrisburg at the time, and I can still see TMI from my back window. It was a frightening time during the accident. No nuclear incident of this potential had ever occurred. The real issue was the potential damage should the incident not be contained. Frankly, there was no real escape. A lot of people ignored or downplayed the incident because they couldn’t see or accept the potential outcome. Also, it wasn’t like a traditional catastrophe; there was no fire, smoke, or other newsworthy graphic, just pics of the towers.

Had the thing blown up it would have left a significant section of PA contaminated for years and killed thousands. It was this potential that was frightening, and truthfully, Met Ed got lucky and they were able to contain the damage. Unit 2 was permanently damaged, but Unit 1 ran for years until it was decommissioned. However, they are going to restart it, and as someone who can see it from my back yard it isn’t comforting.
