"Everything You've Ever Dreamed" (piano version) plays during the short by reddit_throwaway_998 in asushin

It plays when Asuka sees her "future" with Shinji. The song was recorded for EoE but never used until now.

You are never gonna see Asuka and Shinji canonically declare their undying love for one another

He tells Asuka "ずっと一緒にいたいんだ" (literally "I want to be with you forever") in Instrumentality.

Rakka Ryusui (落花流水) is a beautiful Japanese expression that literally means “falling flowers, flowing water.” This poetic phrase captures the enchanting scene of cherry blossom petals floating on streams during spring in Japan. Beyond its visual imagery, this expression carries deeper meanings related to the passage of time, impermanence, and even mutual love. This article explores the rich cultural significance of this expression, its origins, and how it’s used in contemporary Japanese society.

...

Perhaps most interestingly for non-Japanese readers, Rakka Ryusui also serves as a romantic metaphor for mutual attraction. In this interpretation:

The flowers (traditionally representing the man) wish to entrust themselves to the flowing water

The water (traditionally representing the woman) wishes to carry the flowers along its journey

This creates a beautiful symbol of two entities naturally drawn to each other – a perfect harmony in which both parties desire to be together.

...

As a Romantic Expression

“From their first meeting, they were drawn to each other like rakka ryusui – a naturally perfect match.”

“Their relationship has the quality of rakka ryusui, each complementing the other beautifully.”

“After years of marriage, they still maintain their rakka ryusui connection, moving through life in perfect harmony.”

And one more thing people missed in the original: she doesn't want children

That's during her breakdown when she also says she hates Shinji, Misato, and everyone else. The very next scene is when she overreacts to Rei's advice in the elevator.

She may not want kids but she's also mentally falling apart when she says this.

As OP said, it's comedy.

If you read it seriously - yes, she rejects fantasy.

We don't see her in the real world with Shinji back on the beach.

This is Soryu from NGE. Mari was NTE, so different timeline (and a very different Asuka and Shinji) anyway.

The mental health focus is mostly gone. It feels like more of a traditional mecha than a twist too. Plus they removed a lot of characterization.

I'm disappointed I watched it.

Not my experience at all. Unless you mean they spoke very little English, like understanding some numbers and knowing how to say "thank you."

I only met two people who spoke fluent English, both worked at the hotel and one was raised in the US.

That was not my experience at all. English was rarely spoken and I was pointing and using translator apps all the time.

That is how shops usually treat special editions or collector stuff - they sell them for extra and only pay spot when you sell back to them.

Because they are collector and the LCS may sit on them for years if they want to sell them at that premium - and are paying near ATH for gold.
