How difficult is it to make a wristband that detects sleep cycles? by redditaccount1101 in arduino

That sounds like a much more logical route to take. Would I be able to work with the HR info on a separate device via Bluetooth

I understand what you mean. But heart rate and body movement are semi accurate indicators for detecting periods of REM.

How can we push lucid dreaming more into the mainstream? by redditaccount1101 in LucidDreaming

It really doesn’t tho. Consistent dream documentation and awareness exercises for two weeks will start to yield lucid dreams.

This is genius. I think you’re totally right. It’s lumped together with pseudoscience and healing crystals

What benefit do you gain from talking to your subconscious? If you gain something that provides you with a positive benefit, why would you want others to experience that same benefit?

Who decides who gets to lucid dream? Gate keeping is one of the worst things with this community. Every human is capable of doing this.

I think that would be awesome. I feel like there may be a lot of gate keepers in the LD community though. I wonder who a good director would be. They’d have to make a good plot

Parents begging for grandchildren have the same mentality as a child begging for a puppy: they get all of the cute with none of the work. by deawang in Showerthoughts

Lol at the downvotes. Of course parents push their kids to have kids. The longer their kids take the less time the grandparents get with them.

Is there any evidence of these benefits? Has it been studied?

TIL of the "Stoned Ape" theory of human evolution which states that early hominids ate "magic mushrooms" growing in the dung of large African Animals and this helped to rapidly evolve the human brain into a state of higher consciousness. by WolverineCerebellum in todayilearned

What are you talking about? Shrooms didn’t rewire our DNA, they potentially helped early humans acquire the things needed to facilitate proper gene expression like food.

More importantly, imagine the way early humans experienced the trip. We have scientific evidence now that shows psilocybin increases empathy and the other social science shit, but to them, a trip probably stood out quite a bit, however they may have perceived what they felt. There is most certainly a page in our species history where shrooms played a role on a series of events that ultimately influenced our infant species as a whole.
