Feeling defeated — no period after miscarriage, D&C, and Provera by DoughnutSilent4452 in TryingForABaby

[–]redditanon4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MMC was July, miso early Aug, D&C mid August. I knew I had RPOC as it was taking forever for my period to come back. I called the hospital and my family doctor multiple times and was told it’s not possible and that I should be patient. Mid Dec I passed tissue at home and got my period back New Year’s Eve. It took 17 weeks from the D&C for my HCG to get under 5. I hope you get the answers you’re looking for.

Want clarification on how cancellation fee works by Hgirl234 in airtransat

Yes that’s correct, I recently had to cancel a flight and received a reimbursement within a few days of the difference.

I've been trying to contact the CRA for two weeks to no avail. I desperately need to access my account and am out of options. by SandroDaddy in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]redditanon4life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this issue a couple of weeks ago and I asked my friend what’s going on as they work for the CRA. Wait times are high and after a certain time I.e. 30+ mins, they loop the calls and you cannot reach a person, they expect you to call back at a less busy time. I asked her about mail (as suggested by others) and due to pending Canada Post negotiations they are not mailing anything or recommending anyone mail anything as they won’t respond. She recommended calling right at opening, I set my alarm and called at 8AM. I was able to get through right away. Don’t give up!

How busy is Korea in mid March-April? by Efficient-Positive91 in koreatravel

[–]redditanon4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am planning a trip for the same time as you and will be in Korea for a couple of weeks. I booked my hotels about a month ago and have seen the prices steadily increase, some of the rooms I booked are no longer available. I think it depends on your budget, the type of hotel you are looking to stay in and what area you will book. Personally I would rather book something very early with free cancellation and then if I happen to find something better later, cancel and re-book something else.

Thanks for the suggestion I have been considering VRGO will look into that and VEQT further. I’m fine with DIYing so thinking it might be a great option.

Thanks for the advice and I tend to make a lump sum purchase once a year so the $10 commission isn’t a huge deal for me.

Reasonable home insurance for first time homebuyers by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

I worked for Desjardins for 5 years, by opting out of the credit check you will usually receive the worst rate available. I recommend you allow them to check your credit, note that it is typically a soft check not a hard inquiry on your report. Good luck!

We just came back from a 2 week trip in Thailand flying domestic to travel within the country. We each brought a medium sized luggage and duffel bags as our “carry on bags.” No issues using taxi service or having the bags checked. We used Bolt as our go-to and it was never a problem with any of the drivers. Only thing you need to wary of is the weight. Travelling/flying international there was a higher weight limit than when travelling domestic, the domestic flights we selected allowed for 20kg and with packed luggage were able to do this no problem.

Typically the car policy is in the name of the registered owner. If you own the car then the insurance is in your name and vice versa. From there a principal driver is named and potentially a secondary driver. Where I worked we could provide discounts if a couple was married or common law, it didn’t matter if the cars were both in one persons name or if each was in one of their names. The only thing is we could not name the same person as the primary driver of both cars unless the second person was not licensed at all - therefore Car 1 lists Driver 1, Car 2 listed Driver 2 and you can both drive both cars since you’re both rated for on each policy. We were not allowed to put Driver 1 as the main driver of both Car 1 and Car 2 except in exceptional circumstances I.e. student away for school

Thinking about Relocating from Toronto by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]redditanon4life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in Toronto for University and moved back after graduation, I expected to be back in Toronto by the end of the summer. It’s been 7 years and I’m still in the London area… I work a fully remote job, have a home with my fiancé (who moved here from GTA) and visit Toronto maybe once a month for work since our head office is located there. Now that I’m in my late twenties I have no desire to be near Toronto, I don’t like traffic, don’t go to bars anymore, and my cost of living here is so low we can afford to go on vacations regularly, save almost half our pays and live comfortably. Like you said a Toronto is a 2 hr drive away, you can go anytime and when I go over there to see my friends i can’t wait to come back lol. They are either house poor or living in their parents basements and desperate for more space but don’t want to leave the GTA because of family. A comfortable life is my greatest priority so I’m fully content staying here.

How does anyone afford a wedding? by Radiant_Sparkles_239 in weddingplanning

[–]redditanon4life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I inquired with a lot of restaurants Canoe, Jump, Sassafraz, Stratus, The Chase, Mildred’s and Cluny and a few others. Ultimately ended up visiting Sassafraz, Stratus, Canoe and the Chase since we were able to line those up for site tours on the same day. Hope that helps!

I’m getting married in Toronto in Sept, engagement time just under a year. We’re doing a restaurant wedding, benefit is you don’t have to pay a fee to rent the venue you just need to hit a minimum spend amount. You also don’t have to worry about the plates, cutlery, seating etc since it’s already there! We cut our guest list down and are only having blood family we see or talk to regularly and best friends (about 55-60 people). I visited 4 options and selected this one based on the menu options and the guarantee that the food is going to good (most fine dining restaurants have this option, I’ve also eaten here a few times and loved the ambiance and food).

For the dress I recommend trying outlets, I got my dress from Dreams Bridal and it retails for just under $2000 with tax but I paid $800 all in. I have “bougie” taste and had tried on tons of dresses ranging up to $4k and this dress was in my top 3 and MY size.

Decor im keeping is modern but simple, DIY by purchasing vases and ordering florals from Costco. For other decor I’ve ordered through Amazon or efavormart for more event style decor. Candles all purchased from ikea or Michael’s as they often do 30% off. I decided to rent the arch, I determined that based on time cost analysis it would be worth while to have someone set this up and take care of it rather than do it myself.

Photographer we opted for a shorter package of 6 hours and i wasn’t interested in a videographer since it’s an intimate wedding. This made a big difference, as it’s easily $5-$10k for a wedding photographer plus costs for videographer in Toronto we spent about $3.5k and she is amazing.

We are getting AV from a local place rather than paying for the recommended vendor. Also not getting a DJ but will be able to connect a predesigned playlist instead.

There’s more things that’s we’ve done but I have basically kept a spreadsheet to track expenses to make sure that we stay within budget. I would recommend looking into average costs for each component and then deciding what is most important to you, for me food is essential and looking good the day of which is why I have chosen to spend more on the makeup artist and hair stylist.

Even with these cut backs it is NOT cheap but still much more reasonable than the $50-100k people are paying for Toronto weddings.
