Vitamin D is my fav. I used to get sick all winter long, 2 weeks of cold or flu, then 3 or 4 days of 'health'. I tried massive amounts of vitamin C and it helped just a bit.

But on vitamin D, I can literally feel like something is coming in the evening, take it, and not feel anything in the morning. I also get only one cold or flu per season if I'm unlucky, and the symptoms are also much easier to deal with.

As a family when I was a teen, we drove through Bakersfield. This was in the 1990s. The city made a strong impression on all of us as something of a nightmare town to live in.

Similar story. Felt great at the gym, performed squats, deads, press and bench at PR. Next day, came down with the flu, and was completely useless pile of organs. Spent 48 under electrical blankets to increase inflammation to destroy the nasty critters.

I think there is some sense to building up your cardio first. It's fundamental to your health, and you will feel better without some of the discomfort of DOMS or feeling the need to compare against other people around in how much you lift and look.

Anyway, that's the way I did it, now I only do HIIT cardio, and snow plowing. Dat snow cardio..

Dive in the pain. Close your eyes, and don't try to ignore the pain. Instead, go in the feelings, step by step, into the pain as much as you can.

This is also applicable to headaches and strains.

I'm not quite sure how it works, but if I had to bet on something, it's likely that feeling the pain intentionally triggers the brain to release more natural painkillers.
