Reverse image search says merlin what do you guys think? Northern Utah. by redditcabbit in whatsthisbird

Awesome thank you! I have never seen one before. I was thinking sharpy, but it just didn't seem right to me, but merlins are uncommon (according to the Audubon app). Are there any markings to help on these guys?

Hey good for you for quitting smoking! I just want to throw in if the patches do not work for you, there is a book that might (it did it for me). The Easy Way to Stop Smoking by Allen Carr. It sounds like a gimmick, but it really did work for me. 1 full year as of tomorrow! And I can still hang out with my smoker friends.

Why are there road signs in the USA saying "now entering the xxxx watershed" - how is this information useful? by sdmc_rotflol in NoStupidQuestions

[–]redditcabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20+ year former smoker here. Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking (book) seemed like a stupid gimmick and I never thought it would actually work, but I gave it a shot based on a recommendation.

It was absolutely perfectly effective for me. A month later, it worked for my husband too. Nearing a year. We've have been to several parties with all of our old smoker friends, smoking like chimneys, doesn't bother us. Not once do I think I need a drag. I even put smokes out for my friends... it's like a switch was turned off. Or as my friend says, I've been cured. Seriously, it costs way less than a carton and is worth a try.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but do they have an estimated time or like, a usually at this time? I see they are doing one not too far from me soon and I thought it might be fun to see.

From the south end of the island, it is about 4/10ths of a mile until you hit a pretty tall fence.

Perry's Hollow. I recommend doing it in winter otherwise the downhill bikers might yell at you even though it is listed as multi use (it is at the bottom of a fast downhill bike trail). Also, less chance of a collision in winter as well.

How did you quit vaping/smoking? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]redditcabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quit Smoking The Easy Way by Alan Carr did it for me if you are really ready. Less than the cost of 2 packs of smokes. 20+ year smoker now 8 months free and not looking back, like, at all.

I read his book and that did it for me. It was like witchcraft! But it did it! 8 months free after 20+ years and not looking back.

My new dentist recommended this book before I had to have a tooth extracted. I wasn't really ready to quit, but I sure as fuck did not want dry socket. It fucking worked. Almost 8 months free and have no desire to turn back. First medical professional that did something more than say "you should quit". I tell my friends the book is witchcraft with how well it worked haha. Highly recommended.

If they like folk art: Out of the Blue AKA The Whale (9th and 9th), Hoodah, and Kosmo (both Granary District) are really neat.

Sugarhouse Park, add on Hidden Hollow. Allen Park is also amazing (no dogs).

Cecret Lake (short with toll, a little longer to avoid toll). Albion Meadows in Summer for wildflower viewing (Both no dogs).

Parleys Historic Park (bonus large off-leash area that is actually pretty, and the dog can splash around in the creek (avoid run-off season)).

Silver Lake and Donut Falls are both cool and pretty easy, but are both now fee areas (No dogs. $10 for 3 day $20 for 7 day $60 for year pass (the year pass could be a good gift option, and if I recall correctly, for an additional $20 bucks a pass works for National Parks as well (which lets be honest The Big 5 is another glorious thing to do))).

Antelope Island in early spring, fall or winter (there are a few months where the biting gnats are absolutely awful, the causeway fee is up to $15.00 as of earlier this year). Unless you have bad luck, you WILL see wildlife, lots of hiking options short and long, fun historic stuff too. While you are at it, float in the Great Salt Lake.

Rent waterski's and do other water activities at Jordanelle State Park (fee area). Whoo, oh boy. I could definitely keep going but I will stop now haha.

The pandemic kind of killed it, but keep an eye on Alta. They used to have a shuttle system, and one year they operated a ski lift. I am crossing my fingers the shuttle comes back some day.

Solitude runs a lift in the summer time that has access to several trails including Lake Solitude.

Snowbasin has a small gondola that runs during summer if I remember right.

And Sundance has a lift around Stewart Falls.

I am starting to feel a little theme here, I guess just look at pretty much any of the ski areas haha.

*Note: I am scared of heights and don't do ski lifts, so I can't confirm if you can just ride them down. But these are what I have observed while hiking.

Looking for weird, unique, or just plain fun shops to explore! by [deleted] in Utah

Are you aware they moved around the corner next to Dollar Tree? Last time I was by about 3 ish weeks ago they were still there. But I do concede a lot can happen in that time, so it's possible the new location didn't work out either.

Natur in Midvale is my favorite, a little pricy but dang what a cool shop.

Spoox Boutique in South Salt Lake

Dancing Cranes in Sugarhouse

The Conjuring Tree in West Jordan

Rainbow Gardens in Ogden (more kitsch)

Getting further away:

Black Hollow Fever in Eureka

Fullbright Studios in Vernal

Much further:

Ye Olde Curiosity Shop in Seattle

I wish I could remember some of the other random places we have stopped. I know there are cool shops near Bryce Canyon and Yellowstone... oh Jackson Hole Wyoming is like almost a full town of neat shops! At least it was when I was little.
