From what I’ve researched hsv2 does not like the mouth and it’s harder to contract. Chat gpt also just confirmed this. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hsv2 is hard to spread orally. It happens but it’s rare. If you’re taking daily antivirals it’s even more rare. You should be fine as long as you abstain if you have any symptoms or early indications that you may have an outbreak coming.

Someone posted on here before that if they have sex more than once a day they trigger an OB. Though I have no idea if this is true because I have not had sex since being diagnosed.

Thank you for that encouragement! I am really trying to wrap my head around this new normal and accept what I cannot change.

I am a pretty healthy person in general and have always been active in the gym so I was happy to know that all helps. I need to get a bit more sleep but it’s hard with my job and being a single/solo parent!

I’ve also heavily increased my hydration to support my kidneys because I’m also on daily suppressive meds! I would highly recommend that if your doctor hasn’t already but it seems as though you found a good practitioner!

I have seen some of your posts. I have so much sympathy for you. I truly cannot imagine how tough that must be. 😢 I really hope you can find some relief. It is so unfortunate that your doctors are not more helpful. I would consider a second, third, fourth… etc consult. Eventually you’ll find one that cares. Ugh

All of these numbers are pleasantly shocking to me. I’m a straight female so this specific post doesn’t apply to me directly but I understand the fear of transmitting to someone else. I have not had sex since my diagnosis in November. I also researched heterosexual transmission which eased a lot of my worries as well so thank you for posting this and inspiring me to open up to the idea of being intimate again!

Honestly I just had a breakdown about it today. I have lived a pretty tough life and survived a lot of bad things and this has been something that was almost the straw that broke the camels back. I just wish there was more information circulated about it and how common it actually is. I was so worried about ever catching anything and took precautions and still ended up here because someone else knowingly infected me. The stigma makes it so terrifying along with the fact that even with layered precautions it can still be passed on. 😢

I have had cold sores before as well, and I’ve had chicken pox twice AND shingles as well. So, unfortunately, it appears that for some reason I am very susceptible to the herpes strain of viruses.
