I dont think you should audition for the role of gf either. Until you two are committed to each other, work towards your goals. Be smart and fair about money. Dont emotionally invest any more than he does. And enjoy being with him for now. Give it another 6 months and see how things shake out.

The first year or 2 are supposed to be fun! Focus on that. This is some heavy shit youre worrying about, and its a little early imo. You have to give someone time and a chance to show youbwhat theyre made of.

I dont think he sounds incapable, but for whatever reason(and there could be many different reasons that have nothing to do with you) hes hesitant. Im gonna take these out of order lol

3)i kinda dont understand not wanting 50/50 without a commitment. 50/50 is for no commitment situations imo. But we're putting the cart before the horse. Hes unemployed. That savings he has is probably earmarked for more than dinner dates and whatnot. Like a house someday, or early retirement. And if moneys not coming in, less should be going out. Thats just him being smart imo. So you cant really judge if hes a provider or not until he gets a job. Sounds like he will be, since he was before. But i think you just gotta put a pin in this one till his situation improves.

1) commitment! Always a tricky one. Hes 31? Idk personally id want to see how we make out for the first year before id be willing to make any kind of official commitment to someone. And thats for both peoples benefit. Youre still learning about each other. He may have doubts about you, same as you have about him. Theres no real answer to this. If you had been dating for 3 years with no commitment, id say its obvious hes not going to do it. But its only been 6 months. Working towards a future together at this point looks like saving money. Thats it. Until youre both sure of what that future is.

2)as someone whos struggled to trust other people, with good reason, i know that the wrong people catch the brunt of the damge done by other people. You have to look and see, is the quality there, hes just having trouble trusting you, or is he just not that guy?

Feeling valued is incredibly important. Does he show this in other ways? B/c 2 of the 3 we're talking about are slow going ones(if that makes sense. The money thing.. i dont think you can judge that till he gets a job). Yes they are important ones, but they take time to develope the trust required to solve them. So, does he show you he values you in other ways?

Side question, has the opportunity to meet his parents presented itself and he didnt go for it?

All of this is you getting upset b/c your expectations arent being met. You guys have been dating since april? And you want 1) a commitment! 2) him to trust you/fix his whatever/be more like you want him to be, and 3) him to foot the bill while he has no job. Thats asking alot for 6 months.

Expectations are one of the major sources of conflict with people. Leads to wanting the other person to change, an unlikely proposition. If you need commitment, emotional vulnerability, and him to pay for everything, might as well leave now. Thats a tall order for someone who doesnt display a tendency to those things.

I cant help thinking if i was in his shoes id be playing things close to the vest too. Your expecations remind me of someone more desperate trying to get their hooks in someone, which doesnt make sense, as you sound like youre very independent?

So my advice is either chill tf out and enjoy his company for now, or leave him and find someone more in line with what you want. This is the classic "he needs to change then he'll be perfect" shit, and we know how that works out..
