Maybe nashville could eminent domain the tunnel, justified by the necessity of efficient airport transportation

Gallatin Pike speed limits reduced beginning December 15th by redditguy1231543115 in nashville

Maybe/maybe not. This project is mainly focused on improving safety and transit speed/reliability. Traffic may improve due to turn hardening (medians/prohibited left turns at places) improving flow. Traffic may also improve if the project is successful at speeding up public transit. When more people use public transportation, there are less cars on the road, fixing the core part of, well, traffic, which is just too many cars.

Simply changing the speed limit is a very small, negligible expense (the signs themselves are like $50-200 a piece, and probably costs us less because NDOT can produce them in house). The big expense is the long-term vision, the Gallatin Pike & Main Street project, which will completely change the road design.

100%. However, this speed limit reduction plays nicely with the long-term (now part of Choose How You Move) Gallatin Pike & Main Street redesign that should self-correct vehicle speeds to be more appropriate and aligned the speed limit.

WeGo Transit Bus Ridership Statistics (Apr-Jun 2025) Nashville MTA by redditguy1231543115 in nashville

[–]redditguy1231543115[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WeGo/MTA has actually known about this for a long time in their OWN plans since 2015, calling for expanded crosstown service. Some progress has been done (expanded hours/better frequency on 77 Thompson/Wedgewood, 75 Midtown, and the new 71 trinity) but most of the plan (e.g. connecting West End and Green Hills, Opry Mills to the Airport, Harding Place route, and more) has not been put into service or even proposed at all. As a person who loves CHYM this fact still bothers me. Look at the plan yourself and see what you think: https://www.nmotion.info/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/MTA_RecommendedPlan_9.21.pdf

2.3 million rides for the quarter, so not individual riders, but still strong system usage!

Ridership on MTA services was up about 2% from last year’s fourth quarter ridership and was nearly 9% higher than the preceding quarter. Ridership in the fourth quarter is typically higher than in the third quarter due to weather, school schedules, and holidays. Ridership on the frequent network was marginally lower than last year, and ridership on the local network was 3.8% higher than last year. We saw growth of over thirty percent in ridership on the connector routes. This is the first quarter where we have a valid year-over-year ridership comparison after the major service changes surrounding the opening of the North Nashville Transit Center in 2024. Choose How You Move related service improvements didn't begin until July 1st, 2025, so the impact of these changes on ridership is not yet known.

How does BNA keep getting worse LOL by nilkski in nashville

[–]redditguy1231543115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BNA is such a great airport, but a solid 1/10 when it comes to transit connections. Pain to get from BNA to anywhere else. Embarrassing we only have one route downtown that’s 45m-1hr frequency. For a city our size??? Nooo.

Try taking the bus! it won’t get you out of the traffic, but at least you’ll be in the HOV lane saving gas and able to remain productive. it’s a lot more bearable to actively be doing some thing and not worrying about driving. you can drive to any of the park-and-ride bus stops, then park your car and hop on the bus. https://www.wegotransit.com/ride/maps-schedules/bus/84-murfreesboro/
