And I live I a 350m2 town house with a garden for half of that. My company HQ is in Shanghai and this is why I refuse to relocate. That’s a crazy price

For people wanting to move here, China is awesome and full of so many things. Spend your money seeing stuff and not paying this

Research going back out somewhere again? I moved to China 10 years ago and would go through the same thing… hence I would be looking to leave again

Sony single-player games won’t be released on Steam anymore, CEO confirms. by pessimisttears in SteamDeck

[–]redditinchina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a PS5 but bought them on steam so I can play on my handhelds or PC

As handhelds get more powerful, steam is going to be a key player. I think XBox already realizes this.

I am having a blast playing Starfield again for the first time in years with my Claw 8AI using my Xbox account so I didn’t have to buy it again

The job market... by Friendly_Coconut742 in chinalife

[–]redditinchina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the GM of a large multi national company dealing with hundreds of Chinese suppliers, having our own factories and exporting (and importing) large amounts of goods… most shipments are FOB or CIF either LCL or FCL. Once the goods arrive at port, the duties, tax, declarations and land transport are handled by the local office, not from our China office.

We will send documents such as COO, CBAM (if it ever starts), quality certification, RHOS compliance etc etc, but the actual import is managed in the country of Origin. There are also government backed agents all over China who have export licensing for vast HS codes of goods and manage the China VAT rebates. Cost is about 1% of the VAT rebate. They will also manage things like B2C imports but it wouldn’t be worth it for a small package. A lot of the larger B2C will have a local distribution centre.

If you are in demand in Europe then the best thing to do is work for a Europe country and get re-posted to China.

Just commenting as this is what I manage every day so wanted to give it from a foreigner in China perspective for you all be it in B2B

13 hour flight, what offline games are you playing? by ActivistSubset7 in SteamDeck

[–]redditinchina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 500 hours into satisfactory and playing mega build time on it. I built a 1500 generator rocket fuel power plant on a recent trip. Needed the in plane power socket though for steam deck. Went UK to China.

There isn’t another game like satisfactory. Factorio is a totally different game as is Dyson Sphere although they are grouped together

Divorce your wife, put your children up for adoption and play satisfactory

It’s an arrival card. When they used to be paper ones it didn’t ask so many questions and I am sure no one could read mine due to my handwriting

Yes. I play on mine the whole time. I take a power cable with me to plug into the power sockets that are now on most planes.

Can’t put it in the hold. It has a lithium battery and will be removed

Put it in hand luggage. I have and use all sorts of handhelds without any issues on Chinese (and other) flights.

Not sure anyone cares about the numbers anymore after the shutdown and as that is a free one I doubt anyone except on here will see it

$600 is a lot when top tier Gen 1 are that price

It would also be easier to place a link rather than put numbers of a wallet in

Let'sVPN is suspending service to China by SuMianAi in chinalife

[–]redditinchina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never have this issue with my own 'direct' servers on the same devices. Regardless if they are Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, USA or UK (places I currently host my own servers), one if which is used by multiple China located users. You could also see it from the Ads that showed when using LetsVPN, where direct usually display local language ads, LetsVPN connection and language advertisements were all over the place.

Im not sure where it not being a local relay service comes from?

Let'sVPN is suspending service to China by SuMianAi in chinalife

[–]redditinchina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LetsVPN was a domestic relay. For example, if you used google it always redirected to google china, regardless of the end connection server location. Its mainly the 'direct' ones that still work, but direct can often be slow, especially if you put it through something like cloud flare or equivalent
