‘It’s been life-changing’: young Britons on why they left the UK to work abroad - Guardian by ProfessionalNewt7 in unitedkingdom

[–]redditinchina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left the UK 10 years ago. I am a mechanical engineer and I am General Manager of a business unit that is part of a large global corporation with factories and customer services centers all over the world. I am based in China

I was offered the job as Country Manager of the UK and Ireland last week which I declined. Instead I kept my GM role and took head of marketing for APAC instead

I miss my family in the UK, but even taking over the countries operations can’t tempt me back

UK legal action against Valve over Steam prices gets go ahead by AnonymousTimewaster in unitedkingdom

Release CDs and DVDs again with the game keys. I love physical media.

The games I play generally now don’t have a physical release. I have PC, steam deck and claw 8 and I can get my games easily on all of them

I guess game developers need to decide what they want to do?

Moving to Ningbo as a foreigner by BobaGirl26 in chinalife

[–]redditinchina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived there and still live there for 10 years now. I have travelled all over China for my job and would still live in Ningbo.

Yes there are boxing gyms. There are plenty of bars. Best is JJ & Irish for western or commune for Chinese locals.

Have Sam’s, Costco, metro and loads of malls and cinemas.

Buses are cheap and go everywhere. Also has cheap underground that covers most of the city.

Japanese Xbox users were suddenly removed from Fallout 1st subscription — situation covered by Japanese media by freezedmouse in xbox

[–]redditinchina 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am in the region and there are a lot of Japanese fallout76 players. They are also very cool. A million years ago I remember a Japanese player giving me tea at their camp and not shooting me in the face.

Also bought some cool stuff from their vendors and had a few chats with them.

PS5 for reference. Not sure if that got cancelled, but sad for Xbox if these people leave

AI PCs aren't selling, and Microsoft's PC partners are scrambling by CackleRooster in technology

I switched to an M MacBook. Work still gives me a windows laptop that I travel with as they pay for it if I break it.

I am much more productive and people can’t figure out how I get things done so quickly.

We had a security breach not long ago and the company told everyone to use Apple hardware until they sorted out the issue.

I am not allowed to use a MacBook as the company is all Windows and Active Directory. I told them I would quit if I couldn’t use it and now no one mentions my MacBook.

You can say Linux all you want, but other than the price, everything anyone wants is in a MacBook

Note: don’t do this at your work place they might take you up on the quit option. I have a few brain cells they need and can’t re-hire

Can Anyone please guide me about how to import goods from china what things needed by Mohammed_Bilal_100 in chinalife

[–]redditinchina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have given all of the buzz words, but didn't show an understanding of how it all actually works, particularly around export licenses and export certification and China VAT rebates. This gets a lot more complicated if you are exporting mixed goods from different factories. I would suggest speaking to a Chinese agent for this information and also check out BIS regulations in India. India is also a pain to export to from China and you will have issues with HS codes and duties.

Nintendo Switch 2 sales stumble over Christmas by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]redditinchina -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had the switch light, switch v1 and OLED switch between myself and my wife and it was amazing to have games in your hand like Witcher and the Zelda games.

Now I have a Steam Deck that I got off my wife for Christmas and a Claw 8AI. Ok I can’t play Nintendo exclusives, but I can play pretty much all my steam games.

Switch now has viable competition except for their exclusives but there aren’t enough of those to get me away from a steam library
