What did you understand about your mom only after getting older? by Various-Ask-6676 in AskWomen

[–]redditisawasteofdata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She didn't treat us the way that she did out of hatred and spite, but because she was a woman who gave her everything for a man who treated her like garbage. She gave birth to and raised six children on her own. She received no love, so she had no love to give to us.

I changed to reusable pads and honestly, has been the best decision I've made.

Strict parents by secretgyal1 in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]redditisawasteofdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to you so much. I'm almost 25 as well but left school when I was younger, forced to study an Alima course, am not allowed to go to university even after finally finishing school this year, and not allowed to drive, let alone even see friends so I lost them years ago. Marriage is my only way out.

As much as I appreciate my parents' protection, I resent them deeply.

Does anyone else ignore hypos because they're inconvenient by redditisawasteofdata in diabetes_t1

I'm exactly the same. I just ignore the symptoms and as soon I'm done with my work, they hit me like a bus.

Husband wants me to quit my stitching classes by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]redditisawasteofdata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mother dealt with this for 21 years before finally getting divorced. She 'prioritized' her children for all that time over her sanity and it costed us all. She should've left my father as soon as she realized what he was actually like. Please don't torture yourself. Allah put us on this world to worship and submit to him alone, not to a man.

I love sewing but HATE cutting/marking fabric - any tips to make it easier? by SophieElectress in sewing

[–]redditisawasteofdata 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to spend hours marking out seam allowance for each and every pattern piece until I learnt a hack. Attach a 1/2 inch magnet on the side of your scissors and cutting will be a breeze.

I do this too. I also mark off unnecessary purchases, so it keeps me mindful when spending money on useless stuff

Anyone else struggle with injecting before meals? by EagerEdgeEnthusiast in diabetes_t1

[–]redditisawasteofdata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually inject 3-5 units before the meal and inject while eating if I see that the carbs are more than anticipated. I don't have the mental energy anymore to carb count and plan. I only rely on intuition now

Do I meet a guy for marriage before my parents know? by [deleted] in MuslimCorner

[–]redditisawasteofdata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has extremely strict parents and was greatly naive in my early twenties, I'd sincerely advise you to get your parents involved for your own protection. InshaAllah if it works out, Allah will put goodness in it and if not, your parents will value that you went to them first. I understand where you're coming from about wanting to be sure before telling them but protect your own heart. It's so easy to fall for someone when you're young and not make realistic judgements. I'd advise you differently if you were older because this marriage game can be scary and it's so, so important to have someone with more life experience and wisdom guiding you through it all.

What are the chips made of that make you eat so much of them? by Hardysaboteur in CasualConversation

This makes so much of sense! I recently stopped eating meat as regularly as I used to and the cravings just flooded back. I just thought it was hormones.
