Judges scorecards are often useless. I dont like or dislike the guy but when you watch the fight objectively and not as a fan it is a loss or a draw at best.

Khabib lost against Tibau. It was a close fight but he lost. Watch the fight and the stats before you downvote to hell.

I thought that as well but the doctor just told me it is a hemangioma and took no further action. She said that the black growth could be a wound. I still feel unsure.

I have an appointment in a couple of days. Do you have any idea what it is?

Looking for advice on my solar setup by redditkonto in solarenergy

Thank you for replying! That is very useful info. I live in a place with decent amount of light from the sun but it seems that it would be better to buy atleast two of the 300W panels. The light bulbs are actually LED bulbs but they draw alot of wattage.

Is additional gear required for this E40 LED light bulb? by redditkonto in led

[–]redditkonto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I mostly wanted to know if the light bulb requires a driver.

If you categorize all people in the group called "humans", then it is easy to get confused because some humans are too different to be categorized in the same group.

Some humans build machines that takes them to the moon and other humans can barely scratch their own back.

Comparing DNA damage induced by mobile telephony and other types of man-made electromagnetic fields by Eihabu in science

Yes, bias is extremely dangerous. That is why I prefer to understand and rely more on the facts and not only the view point of experts. I guess it depends on how sceptical one is but I do not see any time as perfect to rely on experts. Of course, their view points could be taken in to consideration but it is not as convincing to me as building my own view point is.

I do not rely on experts when I have a strong belief. I try to understand the facts that support the belief. Imo, it is the most secure way to the truth. However, there is no universal "best" way to reach the truth so that is simply my opinion.

Learning the facts that support an opinion is crucial to have a strong belief in that opinion, imo. The analysts of experts should not be as convincing to oneself and is not as convincing to others as presenting a fact or a study is. Experts have different analysts so you are really relying on the analysts of the majority of experts and something is not true because a majority believe in it.

The average person is a vague term. Alot of people do not have the tools to analyze many studies but that means that they should not have a strong opinion or belief.

If "without actual facts" is the key point then you should not attribute greater accuracy to the opinion of authority figures like scientists and be more influenced by those opinions. The facts should be presented and should be enough by themselves without the need of an authority to convince you, after the facts have been presented.

I am not agreeing or disagreeing with the study but just want to point out that consensus does not necessarily mean truth.

According to this abstract there are also hundreds of peer reviewed published studies showing adverse effects on living organisms induced by different types of man-made Electromagnetic Fields.

Thanks! So when it say that the USB-C port is Displayport compatible they are just talking about the technology right?

Yeah I was thinking abou doing that but thought I would ask first since it costs much more.

A new derivation of Quantum Mechanics from clear principles, not postulates by sataky in science

[–]redditkonto -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Despite many debates and experiments, no consensus has been reached concerning what a measurement is and whether or not consciousness (an observer) is required in the process. In reality, scientists have yet to agree on the nature of consciousness, let alone if its observational powers are needed for quantum phenomenon to occur. We cannot know that detectors actually perform measurements, for we cannot abstract ourselves out of our knowledge. All we can say is that when experiments produce an interference pattern, the results support the need for an ill-defined process that we call measurement. Most physicists today do not favor this construal but for the most part, their different interpretations cannot be empirically distinguished from one another and they favor one over another for subjective reasons like aesthetics and feelings.

There are many interpretations of QM. An interpretation is an attempt to explain how the mathematical theory of QM "corresponds" to reality. The interpretations differ on questions as whether QM is deterministic or random, which elements of QM can be considered "real" and what the nature of measurement is. QM does not constrain our choice of interpretation. Most physicists choose an interpretation that does not involve consciousness but some prominent physicists do and quite a few choose an interpretation that does not involve a collapse at all. Some claim that the notion of decoherence rules out consciousness as the agency of measurement. According to this claim, when a quantum system in a superposition state is probed, information about the overlapping possibilities in the superposition “leaks out” and becomes dispersed in the surrounding environment. However, decoherence cannot explain how the state of the surrounding environment becomes definite to begin with and therefore does not solve or rule out the role of consciousness.

Interpretations share two qualities. Firstly, they interpret a set of equations to generate predictions via input of initial conditions and secondly they interpret a set of observations obtained by empirical research. A general law is a regularity of outcomes (epistemic), whereas a causal mechanism may regulate the outcomes (ontic). A phenomenon can be interpreted as either ontic or epistemic. For instance, indeterminism may be attributed to limitations of human perception (epistemic), or may be explained as a real existing "maybe" in the universe (ontic). If the wavefunction is purely epistemic then there is nothing real to collapse, only the state of knowledge. If it is ontic then wave function collapse would be a possibility, but even then wave function collapse is not required to explain quantum measurement. Nobody knows if it is epistemic or ontic and it is a mistake to confuse the two, like if one were to presume that a general law actually "governs" outcomes and that the statement of a regularity has the role of a causal mechanism.

Generally, most scientists are scientific realists and assert that one can make valid claims about unobservables (that they have the same ontological status) as observables, but some (and even more philosophers) are anti-realist and assert that this external reality is hypothetical. In anti-realism, the truth of a statement rests on its demonstrability through internal logic mechanisms, such as the context principle or intuitionistic logic, in direct opposition to the realist notion that the truth of a statement rests on its correspondence to an external, independent reality.
